What is the A7?
Wagons may not be as popular in America as they are in other parts of the globe, but that hasn't kept automakers from sneaking a hatch into what otherwise looks like a sleek sedan. The 2024 Audi A7 continues this trend, as it's fundamentally an Audi A6 sedan with a lot more cargo area. In addition to a sizable hatch, the A7 packs a strong turbocharged engine and an attractive and comfortable interior as well as lots of available in-car tech and driver aids. The A7 received a number of small tweaks for 2023, and we don't expect that anything major's in store for 2024.
The A7 has a lot of four-door competition, but not a lot of competition that can compete with it on cargo space. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is available as both a sedan and wagon and is one of the Audi's toughest competitors. It's expected to be redesigned for 2024. The Mercedes-Benz CLS is equally stylish as the A7, but it doesn't offer the same utility. The exact same thing can be said of the striking BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe. Some more traditional four-door competition includes the BMW M5, Genesis G80 and Volvo S90.
All are strong, but few offer the same combination of strong driving performance, solid in-car tech and a comfortable cabin with such a stylish wrapping. The A7 might not be getting any major changes for 2024, but it should remain one of the better luxury sedans available today.
