my wife just traded her 2001 pt cruiser in on a 2007 with 15,000 miles on it at a Chrysler dealership. The car was purchased on jan.2,2008 and at the time we asked where the block heater was as any car that is built for Canada has to come with a block heater. Chrysler makes some nice looking cars, but ownership experience is not great. I purchased new PT Cruiser Limited in 2001 and put only 30,000 miles on it. Since then I had to replace rack and pinion for 1800$, onboard computer and side air bag computer for 1000$, and another repair was for engine harness - estimated cost 1600$. I had a 2001 Touring and achieved 23-28 MPG. Car had 115,000 when I sold it for a 2006 GT. This HO Turbo gets 17-23, but there I only have about 3,000 on the engine. My 2001 MPG increased/stabilized after 3,000 on it. Looking forward to more improvements on the 2006... Read More...

My 2001 PT Cruiser Limited locks the doors automatically when the car reaches at around 15 km/h. This is normal. Many good European cars are made like this. I like this safety feature. I had similar problems. Warranty expired at 3 years/36,000 miles. At 4 years and 36,633 miles the TCM went out on my 2001 PT Cruiser. Local dealerships told me 1-2 weeks before they could work on car so I took it to a professional mechanic. I contacted Chrysler after the repair but they refused to consider warranty. Four months later at 40,831 miles TCM goes out again! ... Read More...
