2002 Cruiser computer trannie trouble

Help!! I am looking for information re computer trouble and whether or not it is natural for the torq converter & tranny to go at the same time?? Purchased new, my 2002 PT has been lovingly cared for through 161,000 miles. Always hand my vehicles down to family and wanted to do the same with this but think a dealer has trashed my car!! Without previous trouble, my car ... Read More...

Re: Confirmation of credentials [chdabren] 2002 PT Cruiser Missfire

We replaced the plugs, that was the first thing, and the sensor was stalling at 4000 rpm. He checked the ignition circuit too, though I don't know about the second one, I'll ask. The computer has had the latest update of TCB stuff too. Apparently, he can make it fire in perfect sequence without the computer. He said something about the computer receiving the right ... PT Cruiser Tires and Wheels

Re: internal corrosion in aluminum wheels [teach2]

I'm having the same problem! The folks at Just Tires say this corrosion is well known to them on PT Cruisers. I have had rim leaks due to corrosion on my 2002 PT three times in the past year. Luckily I bought a cheap warranty from Just Tires and so they repair my wheels for free. But Chrysler should RECALL these wheels already! Read More...

Chrysler PT Cruiser Transmission Problems

Is it the tranny or a sensor?

Hi, I bought my 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser used in Oct of 2006 with about 75,000 miles on it. I had no problems with it up until this past week. My fiance drove it to work and he said it drove fine, on the way home,he said he had the cruise control set at 55 mph, and he said all of a sudden,it started losing speed and downshifting. It is an automatic transmission. He pulled ... Read More...

Chrysler PT Cruiser Owners: MPG-Real World Numbers

Re: Chrysler PT Cruiser Owners: MPG-Real World Numbers [KarenS]

I've got a 2002 classic with the manual trans, having clocked over 75,000 miles since purchased new. I've added a K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit (or FIPK) and removed the muffler and added a 5 inch diameter by 24 inch long diesel truck stainless steel "echo pipe" and with running plus or middle test fuel, I consistently get 28 -32 MPG driving 500+ miles per week. ... 2004 PT Cruiser GT

While it's not mine, I wanted to pass along the sale of another PT. My mother-in-law traded her 2002 PT Touring Edition for an inferno red 2004 PT Cruiser GT this afternoon. While she loved her old PT, she wished she had leather, sunroof, bigger wheels and more power. Now she has it. Between our 2 Chrysler vans and her 2 PT Cruisers, we have bought 4 Chryslers in the ... squealing brakes

I only noticed one post about squealing brakes. I am considering buying a 2002 Cruiser. I have had 2 Chryslers in the past with brakes that squealed and a friend of mine has had the same problem. Is this a problem with most PT Cruisers? Read More...

PT Cruiser Turbo

Cannot find perfect vehicle for $25K or less.

I am looking at the Mini, the GT Cruiser, the Honda Element and they all have problems. The Mini has a bone-jarring ride on the Cooper S and you can't get an automatic on the S, but if you get the plain Cooper CVT, you don't have adequate power. You can't win either way. The Honda Element lacks a moonroof and is supposed to be slow with the automatic. I was glad to see that ... Read More...

Return of 5 Doors

These cars have attracted lots of interest in the past year or so, with big articles in both Car & Driver and Consumer Reports in the last few months. And I expect that in the coming year even more people will be drawn to 5-door hatchbacks, which offer some SUV functionality with a better driving experience, better gas mileage, and a better price than the trucks which ...
