Pros
- Explosive acceleration from its 715-horsepower V12 engine
- Exceptional balance of handling prowess and ride comfort
- Genuinely exclusive
Cons
- Infotainment could stand to be better, especially at this price
- Transmission lacks finesse at lower speeds
- Rear seats are for decoration
What's new
- New high-performance version of the DB11 supercar
- Tag Heuer model limited to 50 units worldwide
- Part of the first DBS Superleggera generation introduced for 2019
Powered by a 715-horsepower turbocharged V12, the 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera is the most ferocious sports car in the famed automaker's lineup. The DBS starts life as an Aston Martin DB11 AMR, with the biggest change coming from the uprated V12 engine, which produces 630 hp in the DB11. The DBS also adds a new diffuser for increased downforce, quad tailpipes for a more sonorous exhaust note, and carbon-fiber body panels that help lighten the load. The result of all these modifications is a touted 0-62 mph (100 kph) time of 3.4 seconds.

Other than a pair of more aggressively bolstered sport seats, the cabin is more or less the same as the DB11's. The interior is crafted with ultra-premium materials, the infotainment system is sourced from Mercedes-Benz, and there's a four-passenger seating configuration (though the small rear seats are only suitable for very occasional use). As you'd expect of a car in this price range, there are a bevy of ways to personalize the interior. Whether that means dual-tone leather, contrast-colored carpeting or even personalized doorsills, you can truly tailor the cabin to your whims.
There are quite a few illustrious competitors in the ultra-grand tourer segment, and the Aston admittedly isn't the fastest choice out there. But if you want a high-end supercar that stands out among the glut of Ferraris and Lamborghinis at the valet stand, the DBS Superleggera will surely suffice.
Edmunds' Expert Rating
Which DBS Superleggera does Edmunds recommend?
The DBS Superleggera is sold in a single trim, and much of the customization will be centered around tailoring its looks to your specification. The options list offers some useful upgrades, however. The adjustable bolsters allow you to fine-tune the perfect position, while seat ventilation prevents the thrones from becoming swampy on a hot day. And we can imagine you could get tired of the V12 wail at some point, so speccing the upgraded sound system is a no-brainer.
