Audi's Q3 is a subcompact SUV with seating for five, a small but useful cargo area, and an attractive entry price. As Audi's smallest and least expensive SUV, it's a popular gateway to the brand, serving as a stepping stone to larger — and potentially more useful — vehicles like the Q5 and Q7.
Edmunds spotlight: New and improved?
The current Q3 has been on sale since the 2019 model year, making it one of the older vehicles in the segment. Audi is well aware of this, and rumors are swirling that the 2026 Audi Q3 will be an all-new model. Spy shots indicate styling will be similar to the new Audi Q6 E-tron. That means thin, high-mounted headlights and a wider grille, and if the photos are true, Q6-esque rear styling as well. While we don't know exactly what will power the new Q3, we'd be happy if it kept the current car's 228-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, eight-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive. Our wish list would include better fuel economy, though. The interior is also a mystery, but we'd expect it to include the big-screen motif that we've seen in newer Audi models.
Competitors to consider
The extra-small luxury SUV market is flush with competition, with top picks including the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Volvo XC40. All represent solid choices, but if you're less brand-conscious and just want something that has a premium feel for less money, the Buick Encore GX might surprise you.
