Before buying this car I tested the new A4 and the C class Benz. I admit the Audi is the best looking of the 3 but once you take it for a spin- none of the other cars come even close to the BMW. The acceleration is seamless and I love the sport automatic/ steptronic mode. I love the perfectly balanced steering and the handling/ grip on the road is fantastic. I love how solid the car feels. The Audi's steering felt too light and the acceleration/handling does not compare.

Best car I've ever owned

Where to begin; I've always been a huge fan of BMW but started driving Mercedes for a while. I finally switched back because I found this car at an incredible deal and since then my love of driving has returned. The interior for this car feels like it's made with significantly higher quality than competitors, there is no comparison in the drive quality as it's one of the main things BMW is known for, and I've found the car has less repairs than others. I will concede that the car is a bit on the small size, it's perfect for me cause I'm short but my husband (6'2) struggles sometimes to find a comfortable spot with headroom. Once he finds it he loves the car as much as I do and usually takes it to work and leaves me his car (not nearly as fun). All around it's the perfect car for me but if you aren't into the BMW feel then you'll most likely feel meh about it.

Nice car with some issues

Nice car with lots of delightful features (especially with the almost fully loaded car). There have been a lot of complaints about the run flat tires. They are noisy and makes the car handle poorly. A great car has been a bit handicapped because of this choice by BMW which maybe should be offered as an option to buyers. Note that runflats are not installed on BMW's pure sport M3 model. This shows you what BMW themselves think about runflat tires. The base audio system is also very poor IMO. But there are tons of details and safety features that one should not overlook and other than the nitpicks above this is an awesome car. There is a reason why this is very popular in this segment

An unmatched car - when properly maintained

The 2009-2011 BMW 328i is the last great 3 series. These cars carried on the defining features of prior generations of the 3, while also being a handsome modern BMW. Between the straight 6 engine, firm ride, sharp handling, and perfect steering feel, the 328i is a true "driver's car." These features went away in the next generation, introduced for the 2012 model year. The 328i has just the right amount of power - plenty for getting up to speed and passing on the highway, but you can also go through the gears without reaching illegal speeds. My car is an AWD model which adds some weight, it is still a quick car, not necessarily fast though. Styling has held up great after 12+ years. The revisions that came in 2009 modernized the 3's design, and it does not look its age. Build quality is very good, and the interior is well thought out. I do not have the optional navigation system, and prefer the simplicity of not having it. This completes the analog driving experience. While one can buy a 2009-11 328i for a fraction of its original sticker price, these cars perform best when maintained like a $40,000 car. Keep up with all fluid changes, know the common spots for oil leaks (valve cover, oil filter housing, oil pan), and make sure the cooling system is in good shape. If maintenance and repairs are done proactively, the N52 engine is extremely dependable. I do not hesitate to drive mine anywhere. Parts aren't cheap like American or Japanese cars, but you are paying for the driving experience. BMW, or any other brand for that matter, will never make a car like this again. Get one while they're still plentiful! Update 4/2024: I still look forward to driving my 328 each day. While I've had some expensive maintenance in the past year, the cost is worth it to me. It's never stranded me and nothing newer drives quite like the E90 chassis. I don't plan to get rid of it anytime soon, especially now that I've addressed so many trouble spots. These cars are certainly becoming less common on the road. Update 4/2025: Still own the car and it's never left me stranded. However, the expensive repairs have persisted. Even though I've done so much work to the car, it continues to have issues. Most are annoyances, not items impairing drivability. At 15+ years old, they're getting harder for a regular person to use daily; it is both a time and financial commitment to keep them operating in like-new condition.

Calling it free service is a gimmick

Having owned multiple BMW's I can say they are great cars. But the company uses the marketing trick of saying service is free, when in fact, they determine what normal service is, so don't really do much service to the car. BMW says the car can go 25,000 miles between oil changes, has lifetime coolant that never needs service, and they don't check the car out for issues until about end of the 4 years of free service .
