This review is an update to the review I submitted when the car was brand new. In brief, this car has been trouble-free since I bought it. It's tight, quiet, fairly fast, and virtually trouble-free (well, almost). The rest of this review was written back when the car was newly purchased. It's only got a 2 liter engine, but it's dual turbocharged!!! That means it's fast. Yet most surprising to me is the fact that this car is extremely quiet. It's so quiet that I seldom can hear it shift, thanks, in part, to its highly efficient 8 speed transmission. In terms of handling, this car corners extremely well, and its brakes are exceptional. I used to own an S class Mercedes AMG (which I bot when new); that car was a high end, extremely fast car. This BMW is slow in comparison (nor as expensive!!!), but it's still faster than many other cars. You owe it to yourself to take the 530e for a test drive. After running it though its paces, I'm confident that you'll be impressed.

Wow Wow....Absolutely amazing ride. Sooooooooooooooo Quiet....and the handling absolutely amazing. The mileage is amazing...46mpg+....great pick up and comfort. Toyota/Lexus/Honda, please take a page out of BMW's book and learn from it.

530e, wonderful car with seriously annoying issues

Got a 2018 530e and love so much about the car. It drives like a dream and looks beautiful. I'm getting really great mileage as well. Two main problem areas: 1. The software is really bad. Backup camera doesn't work 20% of the time. The virtual dashboard also is on the fritz about 20% of the time. Less common is the touch display not working. All tend to self correct by turning the car off and then back on but seriously annoying. 2. BMW uses a plant based cellulose for the wiring housing and it turns out that this stuff is super delicious for rats. Yes, you read that right. Rats love climbing up into the warm engine compartment and chewing the heck out of the wiring housing. This cost me $2,000 out of pocket to fix. Look at some online message boards, it isn't an uncommon problem. BMW needs to fix this issue.

I must say this car is absolutely amazing it’s the third BMW I’ve owned previously I’ve owned two different X5 models 3.0/4.4 as well I’ve owned a Benz AMG 55 car which was extremely fast this but not always confident. This car has the ability of all those cars blended in one minus trunk space. However if you find it equipped properly with a dynamic handling package it actually mimics the M car and can be lots of fun to drive. The ride quality is superb I should’ve upgraded for the Bowers and Wilkins I took the Harman. The hybrid battery does not give you long range but it does a remarkable job of boosting the performance & responsiveness if you’re fortunate enough to be able to plug it in at work or at home you could go a week without using gas or very minimal amounts. If this was BMWs attempt to use me as a guinea pig for their evolving technology I approve. For sure when this car is released as 700+ horsepower all electric Tesla fighter I will build & buy it again! I am a true fan of BMW they are drivers cars they make you better drivers because they’re so compliant. Best money spent you can’t go wrong
