The five-passenger 2025 BMW X3 is a compact luxury SUV that is available in two trims: the 30 xDrive and the M50 xDrive. The X3 30 xDrive is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (255 horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque), while the X3 M50 xDrive upgrades to a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder (393 hp, 428 lb-ft). Which X3 trim does Edmunds recommend?
Most drivers will find the X3 30 xDrive more than adequate in terms of power. The X3 M50's big price premium isn't worth it unless you place a big priority on performance. We suggest adding the optional Premium package to either model to get desirable features such as adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, a surround-view camera and premium audio.
