Welding Defects and expansion issues
I purchased a new 2024 Encore GX Preferred in April 2024. After leaving the dealer, it had to be returned for tire issues. three defective, two replaced and all well over maximum pressure. On return of the car two days later, there was an ongoing snapping sound from the B pillar where it meets the ceiling crossover. GM the dealer assumed that this was the plastics and looked it over. With no change, I spoke with a retired GM employee who passed this to the regional quality office. The dealer recalled the car for 5 weeks, leaving me without a vehicle. They sent an engineer who then consulted with two others. I provided video recordings and a log indicating temperature, test location subjective road conditions, speed and other characteristics of the samples. Well, they ended up fixing the unibody structure in areas I didn't know I had an issue. They completely missed the actual complaint and after 5 weeks, it was the same. Tracking shows that they didn't read the complaint as they were testing on bumpy roads and highway speeds, places where the problem didn't exist. This is a smooth road, hot, summer condition problem. I'm frustrated that I have a defective car. Insult to injury, they never fixed the wheel balance issue from day 1.. Now, they want about 25,000 (Canadian) to put me in another car and expect me to eat the depreciation which is about 35% of the vehicle price... this car is 6 months old with unusually low mileage. The quality office has goine silent and the dealer has gone silent. Nobody is going to fix my brand new car and now I'm stuck knowing that I was ripped off. I wouldn't even believe this if I wasn't experiencing it! I've actually turned around and gone home in the middle of trips out of frustration. What an absolutely awful new car buying experience.

Great Little SUV
This is an aggressive but very attractive looking little SUV. Handles quite well but, to me, it has a rather stiff ride (read bumpy). This normally wouldn't bother me but for some reason, seemed a little more than I am used to--could be because I'm coming from a slightly larger wheelbase? That being said, front seats are super comfortable. Has quite a bit of pep w/the 1.3 turbo--kind of fun car to drive. Decent leg room front & back. It has a little more room in hatchback area than I expected & back seats fold down for more room. This SUV has all the gewgaws + some I wasn't expecting--they thought of practically everything. It has a decent size info screen. Attractive two tone interior. Price is a little above comparable vehicle but, to me, I think it was worth the extra as I plan on keeping this vehicle a while.

Luxury in a Small Package
The look of this car is eye catching. Sharp looking inside & out. My friends are impressed. That isn’t why I selected this car tho’. I am a Buick fan & 5 Buicks later this car does not disappoint. It has get up & go. Just filled the tank yesterday & was pleased by the mpg reading. The comfort ride is notable - not the expected bouncy suspension system of yore. The tech is amazing & I admit I’m in the learning mode once again. It’s not overly challenging. I’ve only had the car for 2 weeks - so I look forward to utilizing all the special tech that is an upgrade from my 2021 Encore GX ST Essence. OnStar premium comes with the Avenir. A great perk. Cargo space is impressive. Leg room comfy. From my humble perspective-this is a wonderful luxury crossover. Admittedly, I’m not a car expert. I do know what I like & I LOVE this car. It’s way above perfect for my needs. Critics be damned. 🤭

Where's the Heat?
Lots of useful gadgetry and a handy touchscreen for phone and audio. Presets on radio won't retain non local stations that are sometimes available. Brake pedal is too sensitive and too easy to make abrupt stops. The biggest negative is the inability to heat the driver's side of the front cabin no matter what you do. It almost seems like insulation was forgotten in the body cavities at floor levels. It's actually a fun car to drive overall however. Zippy responses to acceleration and comfortable ride. Hands free phone is clear and user friendly. We were surprised to find more luggage space than anticipated. "It's the heat man!" We have winters here.
