2012-'13 Jeep Wrangler Recalled for Possible Loss of Transmission Fluid

• Chrysler is recalling an estimated 180,131 2012-'13 Jeep Wranglers because the power steering line may contact and wear a hole in the transmission oil cooler line, resulting in a loss of transmission fluid, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
• Chrysler told federal safety regulators it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, fires or property damage related to the recall.
• The recall is expected to begin in July.

WASHINGTON — Chrysler is recalling an estimated 180,131 2012-'13 Jeep Wranglers because the power steering line may contact and wear a hole in the transmission oil cooler line, resulting in a loss of transmission fluid, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"A loss of transmission fluid may result in a loss of transmission function, which may increase the risk of a crash," said NHTSA in its summary of the problem.

The affected Wranglers are equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine and an automatic transmission. They were built from January 23, 2011 through February 23, 2013.

Chrysler told federal safety regulators it is not aware of any accidents, injuries, fires or property damage related to the recall.

Jeep dealers will replace the power steering return tube assembly. The recall is expected to begin in July. Owners can contact Chrysler at (800) 247-9753.
