Audi's A4 has long been a leading choice among compact luxury sedans, and it gets a redesign for the 2017 model year that makes it even more enticing. The upgrade leaves the A4 with a roomier cabin, more power under the hood and an expanded list of standard and available amenities. All models come with features such as a rearview camera, a frontal collision mitigation system and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. Both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) are offered. A seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission is standard, and a six-speed manual is available with AWD models. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine powers the A4, providing 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Pricing starts at $34,900.

Newly launched for 2017, the Cadillac XT5 melds bold design with comfortable driving dynamics and a roomy interior. This compact luxury SUV replaces the Cadillac SRX, which was the brand's top seller. Standard features include a power rear liftgate with memory height, Wi-Fi hotspot capability and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring. Both FWD and AWD are offered, and all models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The sole engine choice is a 3.6-liter V6 providing 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. Launched by parent company Hyundai, the Genesis brand is a new arrival in the luxury car segment. The G90 is one of two models introduced by Genesis for 2017, and it holds the distinction of being the manufacturer's flagship model. The G90 boasts refined handling, an impeccably constructed cabin and a robust array of amenities. This full-size premium sedan comes in two generously appointed trims: 3.3T Premium and 5.0 Ultimate. Every G90 includes features such as adaptive xenon headlights, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, a sunroof, tri-zone climate control and heated and ventilated front seats. All models are governed by an eight-speed automatic transmission, and buyers can choose between rear-wheel drive (RWD) and AWD. The 3.3T trim comes with a turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 good for 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque, while the 5.0 Ultimate trim is motivated by a 5.0-liter V8 generating 420 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Pricing starts at $68,100.

There are a lot of excellent choices in the fiercely competitive compact crossover segment and the 2017 Infiniti QX30 cruises into the fray with a proposition that emphasizes luxury and style. It has pleasant handling and a versatile interior, and its eye-catching sheet metal presents fluid lines and a graceful profile. Standard features include keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone climate control, satellite radio and Bluetooth connectivity. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine powers all QX30 models, generating 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission shifts the gears, and both FWD and AWD are available. The 2017 Infiniti QX30 has a base price of $29,950.

Pricing starts at $40,990.

Lincoln has resurrected the Continental nameplate for 2017, and the all-new sedan features a sumptuous cabin and a selection of robust engines. Luxury cars rise or fall on their ability to create a premium environment, and the Continental impresses with high-rent amenities such as a 30-way power-adjustable driver seat with an available massage feature. You'll find FWD and AWD in all models, and all come with a six-speed automatic transmission. Lincoln makes three engines available: a 3.7-liter V6 with 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 providing 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, and a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 offering 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The 2017 Lincoln Continental has a starting price of $44,560.

For 2017, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan benefits from a redesign inspired by its larger, more opulent sibling, the S-Class. The E-Class enters its 10th generation with a modern, coupelike exterior and a state-of-the-art cabin dominated by a standard 12.3-inch high-resolution central display screen. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine provides 241 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, and it's mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Both RWD and AWD are available, and pricing for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan starts at $52,150.
