I'm Electrified!

Been wanting to go electric but waiting for the much anticipated $34,995 Equinox EV version to become available. Finally here so I traded in my 2020 Equinox gas powered vehicle for the 2025 Equinox EV. I've seen reviews saying "its acceleration is considered "lackluster" and not particularly exciting" but I found the acceleration to be superior to that of my former gas powered Equinox. I love the one-pedal driving feature that allows the vehicle to slow down and stop using only the accelerator pedal. This regenerative braking helps to recoup and store energy when the vehicle decelerates. Took a bit of getting used to but now I often take an entire trip without touching the brake! All this, and an MSRP of $34,995, the Clean Air Vehicle rebate of $7,500, military discount of $500, and the trade in value of my old Equinox, made it an offer too good to pass up. Not to mention I love driving the vehicle! Mine is an Equinox EV 1LT but there was only the option to select the 2LT model in Vehicle details.

Vehicle delivered with major water leak

Nice car, BUT…..Vehicle delivered with major water leak at seam of deiver’s A pillar and roof headliner. Dealership discovered this was caused by a known defect listed on service advisory. Water is entering from faulty sunroof assembly. Sunroof needs to be replaced, but is on back order with no date promised for fix. I bought the car 10 days earlier. Not even offered a loaner car.

Only 2 things bug me!

I really liked the price ($28k out the door for 2025 Lt with power and heated seat, voice command navigation, phone Integration etc etc). My knee keeps hitting the heat control knob, changing the temperature setting. The available range numbers on the display are way off in Michigan winter driving. I have to multiply by . 61 to get a real estimate. Chevy could have done that for me.

Decent car, terrible infotainment system

The best features are the 300 mile range and large wheels. The infotainment system is so horrible that I will NOT get another Chevy EV unless it is changed. Other than google maps, everything loads so slowly that I rarely get updated Content on the apps before my 15-20 minute commute has ended. Content on the same apps in my phone is automatic and can be played on carplay or android auto immediately. Fortunately I'm about 1/3 of the way into my 2 year lease.

Great car but noisy and difficult to heat

AWD. Great acceleration if you are on sport mode. Great on ice and snow if you are on ice and snow mode. Better acceleration than in the Bolt. Great range. Great that it can charge using Tesla chargers, which are frequently near freeways and towns and always have space to charge a vehicle quickly. The other charging stations are slower to charge and are often only a few units so that you have to wait for a long time until a space opens up. Works great with Google maps and music on my iPhone. My only criticism is that there is a strong wind noise when you are driving fast and dust comes into the car if you are driving behind another car on a dusty road. Another problem is that it is hard to heat the car. In cold weather my legs get cold from outside air. I can’t and the dealer can’t understand where the noise and cold air Is coming from. They said that the noise was normal for the Equinox SV. The gasoline Equinox I tested was quieter, but I’ve not tested its heating system in cold weather. I also am installing the V2H charging and home battery backup system. This will help us survive the multiple power outages we have every year. We can use the EV battery to run the house for more than a week, and can be charged from the back-up battery in the house. , when necessary. If we were to have a long outage, I will be able to charge the car at a local Tesla charger and then return to the house to continue powering the house and recharge the house backup battery.
