The Chevrolet Equinox EV is one of the best bargains in the electric vehicle space. It offers more than 300 miles of range, great passenger space and a starting price of under $40,000; if you're looking for a useful EV that won't break the bank, this is one of the best options out there. We don't expect Chevy to make major changes to the Equinox EV for 2026, but the lineup — which currently consists of two trim levels and a handful of option packages — could be fleshed out a bit.
Edmunds spotlight: Goes the distance
Considering the Equinox EV's reasonable starting price, its range is its most impressive feature by far. The EPA says that it will travel nearly 320 miles in the single-motor front-wheel-drive configuration. However, we did even better than that. On the Edmunds EV Range Test, the Equinox EV hit 352 miles, beating its estimate by almost 12%. Even if you need all-wheel drive, the Equinox EV should deliver range close to 300 miles, which is better than just about everything at its price point.
Competitors to consider
When it comes to comparing prices, the closest rivals to the Equinox EV are the Tesla Model 3 and Kia Niro EV. However, the Equinox EV is a bigger vehicle than both of these alternatives, putting it more closely in line with the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Though it’s considerably down on power, the Chevy is by far the most economical option here, once again demonstrating its great value.
