I bought my '08 Equinox Sport new from a Dealer. I loved it from the start. However, the small narrow space between the console and the seats is impossible to retrieve anything dropped down there. I keep a 2 ft. "grabbit" just for that reason behind my seat. Too narrow for a hand and the seat track is too close to the console wall to get in there. Now, my tranny blew and is being called an "Internal proble" something to do with the valve body. The trans has to be replaced at a cost of $3900! Ouch! Anybody else have the transmission problem?

We bought this vehicle used with 60,000 miles almost 2 years ago. Since it was used, we went ahead and got the extended warranty from the dealership. we had to replace the plugs for the car chargers, we had to replace the heated seat sensors twice w/in 2 weeks, the ignition cylinder had to be replaced so that the car would stop cutting in and out. Then just after the warranty expired, we were told the routers needed to be replaced, but in order to do so the entire brake system had to be done. We've had a slight power steering leak, and today while driving down a country road the transmission went out!! Ahhh, stay away from this money pit. Not worth the problems and money

I have had numerous electronic issues with my sport, and at 50,000 miles I got an engine ticking. In Dec 2014 the timing chains and tensioners were replaced. within a week the catalytic converter had to be replaced. A couple months later the shifter assy. I now need an ECM, and the timing chains have stretched again. I am told it is unsafe to drive, with no permanent fix, so GM will not do again. I got under 10,000 miles on the repair to which I paid the GM "Loyalty" deductible to have done. We have purchased 6 GM vehicles, 5 from the same dealership, and the only thing we are being offered is "great rebates" on a brand new GM product, and $3000 for our trouble. I have gotten a couple other opinions who are second guessing the quality of the repair, and need to pull the engine and transmission to change the timing chains. Update: I paid out of pocket for the ECM, numerous sensors that have gone bad, and $2,400 to replace the timing chains, now for the second time. Within a week I broke down, and had to be towed back to the dealer, who said I had a lot of gunk in my engine from poor quality oil. ALL of my oil changes are done at the dealership. They did not call me to advise repair process, instead 1 phone call that it was repaired, and I owed them $889.00! For my next oil change I went to an independent repair shop, who found that the dealer never removed my dip stick when putting the oil pan back on, which bent the dip stick, and it could not be removed. I then had to pay for that repair, and a new dip stick/tube assembly. NOTHING ABOUT THAT IS OK! The dealer said they cannot help me since I had the work done elsewhere. I ask you, what could they possibly have done for me in this situation that would make anything that has happened better, and how much would they charge me for that repair!?! I am done with any GM product, EVER.!! I will NEVER purchase another GM vehicle, just because of the way I have been treated, lied to, and charged for things that I should NEVER have had to pay for. Shame on you GM, I have been loyal to you for 30 years, and you treat me like this!? You do not deserve my business. UPDATE: Timing Chains stretched, and started making noise AGAIN, Transmission started acting up, and not shifting out of first gear, thus forcing me to pull over, shut it off, wait a few minutes, and restart. The good news is that this worked about 8 out of 10 times that it happened, however it took 2 days for the check engine light to go off. After researching, and test driving other brands, I can finally say good riddance GM!! Between the money I lost on your stocks in 2009/10, and the unacceptable experience with my last vehicle, I am the very proud owner of a BMW!!!

This car is terrible. Always had GM vehicles. This one is terrible. It slides in the rain, no one knows why. Never happened with my Blazer or Jimmy. Dealership has been a pain. Owed me more for truck trade won't give up $1000. GM said they would still waiting. I will never buy GM again. Hello Tokyo...

I bought my 2008 Equinox in 2012 as a certified pre-owned vehicle from a reputable dealership with 70,000 miles. My check engine light came on almost immediately and the struggle went downhill from there. I am finally 4 months away from payoff and was just old I need a new engine, among other things. This comes after a $3,000 repair job only two years I ago. I have maintained regular maintenance on this vehicle since I bought it and have driven it modestly. My plan was to keep this car long after it was paid for and now I will be getting rid of it before a few months shy of that happening. There were major and minor flaws in this vehicle and I would not recommend this model to anyone. Poor turn radius, blinker gets stuck, door audio cables came loose very early into ownership and, power locks went out soon after purchase, headlight held water leading bulbs to blow frequently, A/C and heat do not cool/heat the back seat well, sun visor screws constantly came unscrewed, dome light got stuck and never could get it back out, timing sensor error (common in this model) was repaired by a Chevy Dealership only to malfunction again two years later, and the list goes on and on and on. Most of the minor stuff was too costly to deem worthy of fixing/replacing early on. Resale value decreased so quickly I was never able to sale and get out of my loan without having negative equity.
