2024 Chevrolet Equinox Consumer Reviews

From a Bronco Sport to an Equinox?!
Traded in a '22 Bronco Sport for a '24 Equinox. Better fuel economy and a larger back seat were the main goals here and the Equinox checked those boxes. Tech integration (Apple car and android auto) are much better/easier to use if that's important to you. The MPG is about 28 in the city. I have yet to take it on a longer road trip yet. It's about 5 mpg more than I was getting in the Bronco Sport with the same commute. Is it fast? No. Can you quickly speed up at highway speeds if need be? Yes. I didn't really like the look compared to Bronco sport, but it's grown on me. The lane assist feature is a bit aggressive compared to other vehicles I've driven that have it. Feels like it over corrects. The steering wheel is also pretty stiff when the feature is turned on. Coming from a Ford (or any other manufacturer really) it drives different. I wouldn't say bad or anything, but it is different. I wish I could better articulate what I mean by different, but anyone who's come from another manufacturer into a Chevrolet understands what I'm talking about. The ride is smoother at highway speeds. A bit rougher when going slower on city streets. I do wish the remote start feature would turn on the AC. Maybe it's in the settings and I just haven't found it yet. But it would be nice to remote start the vehicle on a hot day and have the AC blasting when you get in. It's a good crossover and I'm happy with my purchase.

17 LS AWD and 19, 21 and 24 LT FWDs.
The 17 was not a turbo but it still got great gas mileage. 35 on highway. I liked it. Got a 19 1.5L Turbo It was a little smaller but nicer than the 17. The 21 was almost perfect but Android Auto required a USB cable and was not so dependable. Great gas mileage though, well into the 40s on the highway. The 1.5L Turbo surprised in the mountains as climbed steep and long grades without great effort and gear searching. I like the dependable 6 speed transmission. Not a CVT. I had no problems with any of them. They are all comfortable and easy to drive. They are priced below any real competitors. The later ones with LED headlights and Wireless Android Auto would be the best choice. FWD is fine for my highway and suburban driving.

Space with practical use
First off, this is my second Equinox purchased. My first Equinox was 2020, which I bought for my condo in FL. I bought that car due to the price and I just needed it for limited use whenever I visited my condo. It’s an LS and which I got out the door for aprox 20k prior to the pandemic. I was very happy with this car. No issues, and handles just as well as my wife’s GLC300 Fast forward to 2024, and I got ride of my C300 and not will to pay for Mercedes prices. I got the RS trim with all the bells and whistles. I’m pleased with the car, but didn’t realize it misses a few features a 30k upper trim level I would expect at this price point. These options are not a life and death, but I feel should have been included as standard. The car did not come with memory seats, auto dimming rear view mirror, and auto wipers. The car handles great, the information system is seamless, and fuel economy is great. The car is little underpowered with the 1.5 liter, but it’s not a sports SVU. The room inside is extremely comfortable, which can fit 4 large adults inside. I drove my mother’s CX-5 which I also liked, but the information system is not touchscreen and I always was fumbling with controls to get between maps, calls, and radio. I felt it was kinda dangerous because I had to constantly take my eyes off the road to move the options. The Chevy his seamlessly integrated system with touchscreen. The 360 camera is fantastic (clear and crisp views). Parking warning is great and alerts of traffic when coming for side. The blind spot warning is only a flashing light, I wish it was also an audio warning too.

Dangerous
14,000 kms in, when i had just passed a semi on the highway the reduced power light came on essentially bringing the vehicles speed to 50 kmh, avoided a catastrophic accident by inches. DO NOT PUT YOUR SAFETY AT RISK
