Troubled Transmission

2023 Chevrolet Malibu 2LT 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)

After just 18 months and 25,000 km the transmission is kaput!! We are seniors with excellent driving records so the car has not been abused in any way!! GM says they will replace the transmission but I have lost confidence in the car. Will be looking to replace pretty soon!!

Bought a 2023 Chevy Malibu 2LT brand new. Thought it would be better quality since it is a 2LT. Had it for about 2 months before issues started. First issue was front bumper panel corners popped out. Had it in the garage a couple times. Being told there is no fix, just push it back in. Squeaky driver seat and gas peddle. Air box sounds like a goose when the louvers adjust. Had the air box replaced. Sound came back within 2 months. I will not buy another chevy that was made prior to 2020. Seems like the quality went down hill. Of course chevy will take it in on trade at the value it is worth. Unfortunately, this leaves the customer a couple thousand dollars upside down in the deal.

You Get What You Pay For

2024 Chevrolet Malibu 1LT 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl Turbo CVT)

I purchased this car $4,000 below MSRP. I thought I was getting a good deal. This car has LOTS of road noise when driving at interstate speeds. I owned a 2009 Malibu LT and it was quieter. The 1.5T engine is very underpowered and I need to floor the gas pedal to pass at interstate speeds. The interior is covered in low grade hard plastics and hasn't been updated since 2016 when this generation of Malibu debuted. This does not feel like a 2024 car. For people wanting a "American" sedan, you're better off buying a Camry or Accord. The Malibu uses foreign parts from Mexico and China. Read the parts content information on the window sticker.

I have owned and driven a ton of cars and drive about 1000 miles a week to commute. If you are a driver, you will notice that it's a very sad feeling to drive this thing. It has no power, and the CVT makes it scary unreliable and weird to drive. It handles like an old boat and has annoying cabin noise at 45mph. On the highway, it won't get out of its own way. Accelerator all the way to the floor on the merge ramp and nothing happens. Driving it on the highway drives a person nuts because of the deafening road noise. The seats are very uncomfortable, like a 90s Honda Civic. It's a terrible car all around, and really shows you have given up on life... A minivan is better, because it has at least some utility.

I have owned a 2005 and a 2013 which I bought new and was very happy with them. This 2023 has VERY loud road noise. Sounds like I'm dragging a tin bucket down the road. My dealer says there is nothing they can do. I will be trading it in soon for another manufacturer.
