Great car, Terrible Service
by Jessica on 02/08/2023My husband and I bought a 2023 Volvo XC40 here in early February 2023. First, the short list of positives: We love the car. Jess (Sales Manager) is great. She was a helpful presence in an otherwise catastrophic experience. Here’s why you… should think twice about buying from this location: - A huge lack of professionalism between the sales associate (Jerry) and the finance manager (Robert). From the moment we were approached on the floor, we experienced a lack of clarity, transparency, and helpful service. We’d ask a question and we were told, “we’ll get to that later.” Rather than clearly explaining features of the car, we received countless hypothetical stories and jokes that didn’t actually demonstrate the value of what the car could do. - Miraculously (because Jess stepped in), we actually decided to buy the car there. So we moved onto the financing conversation. We’re sitting in the lobby of the dealer when Robert comes out and starts throwing numbers around and trying to have a financial conversation out in the open without showing us actual numbers or explaining *anything*. You know, important things like how did he actually come up with various interest rates or what’s the value of different terms. When we’d ask for clarity or transparency, he’d almost laugh it off. He was constantly belittling us, thinking he was making jokes without a whiff of empathy for the fact that we’re about to drop a large amount of money. - As we got further into the discussions, my husband and I told Jerry that I would be the primary buyer and my husband would be the co-buyer. But when it came time to sign the contracts, it was the other way around. When I pointed it out, both Jerry and Robert responded like we had never said anything of the kind. When Jess was made aware, she was incredulous because she remembered the whole conversation! Instead of offering to fix it, Jerry and Robert (especially Robert) kept saying that it didn’t matter over and over and he couldn’t change it without having to hit our credit scores again. It felt like a threat and it did in fact matter because that is the way we said we wanted it done and it was completely overlooked. So it was yet another example of how we weren’t being listened to. We hope this dealer can make the changes that it needs in order for customers to feel heard, valued, and respected. Volvos are amazing cars and it’s a shame to see their brand tarnished by poor behavior and bad service. We do not recommend that anyone come to this location.
