I actually thought all car dealerships were the same after 30 years of buying cars. I had no idea a dealership could actually treat you like a guest instead of a… dollar sign. I have purchased 5 of my last 7 Subaru vehicles from Irvine and will soon buy my 6th from them. I don't live exactly close and could go to 3 other locations that are shorter driving distance, but I know what I would get elsewhere. I'd get "Let me talk to my manager about that" while the guy goes to get some coffee. At Irvine Subaru I get an efficient transaction, a good price, and nice people. Desiree is simply the best.New car purchase

by vurncsaeturn on 05/26/2014updated 04/27/2025I went in to buy a car and asked for a test drive, I was questioned with "are you buying?" ; does this mean that only buyers can test drive cars? Is this normal? Although it pissed me off, I still attempted to work out a deal and ended up… leaving. Following this event I wrote an email to express the situation and was accused of calling the salesman rude, here is the email conversation you decide on the interpretation: Me: Hey Desiree, I wish we could of spoke sooner. I walked into Irvine Subaru today ready to buy that particular vehicle and was denied a test drive, salesman was named Jean(Male). I was so pissed off I left. I have a pre-approved loan and was trying to work out a deal, and in my opinion the gentlemen did not take me seriously. If you can assist me in any way I would appreciate it. Her: He was not rude to you. He asked if you were ready to buy and you wanted a discount on the vehicle and he told you that there was no discount on it and you are the one who said no thanks and left. If you want to buy it at MSRP that will be the price. Me again: I never said the man was rude, you are correct in that I left because we could not work out a deal. I was pissed off because I asked for a test drive and he ask "are you buying?"; which i interpret it as, if your not buying you cant test drive, in which I was intending too. At msrp we would be above my pre-approved loan and would not be able to make a deal.Excellent sales staff

Rusty, one of the other sales managers, took my… call to the dealership one evening, when I was asking about on online finance application. He took the time to manually input all of my information for me, and also gave me a great finance rate. All in all, I had a great experience, and I would definitely buy another vehicle from them.Best Subaru Dealership!!!!

by nlgrunner on 09/04/2013updated 04/27/2025I have been a Subaru owner since 2005...and while my car was in good condition I was closing in on 200K (yes, these cars go the distance) and thought it time to get a new one....I saw the Crosstrek and knew it was for me...I went through… Costco to choose the car and Dustin and the staff couldn't have been easier to deal with...they knew I was serious but there was no pressure and I walked away having a new car and a great experience with an amazing deal.Wouldn't take my Suby-Roo anywhere else

They really make you feel like your business is important to them. This time I waited for my oil change. They estimated an… hour and twenty minutes, which would have been fine. My car was ready in 45 minutes, washed and vacuumed !Easy

I had done my Internet research on the TrueCar.com site as well as shopped at another local dealership. It was the end of the month, last day in fact, so the… salesman I worked with over the phone went to his best price quickly. Between the TrueCar price and his internet/fleet salesman, he came up with his lowest offer. This was about $1000 less than the other local dealership. Due to an unfortunate injury, I didn’t get back to him until two weeks later. He stuck by his original price quote and I was very happy with the sale price. The dealership site itself is small, but “mighty.” Lots of cars, lots of staff, friendly and professional. I recommend Frank’s Subaru for your next purchase. L. After reviewing many deals from the surrounding Subaru dealerships, Subaru Irvine provided me with not only the best deal (lowest purchase price and monthly payment), but was also… very concise and straight forward. They provided me with all the information I asked for in an organized fashion! It made my decision so much easier and less stressful. I would definitely return for another car, although I'm thinking I'll love this one enough to purchase it!Arrived Convinced, Left Relieved

I'd bought 4 new Fords over the years (still have two Focuses in the driveway); so when my wife told me she was starting to worry about commuting in her high-mileage '07 (165k-plus), which… had twice recently overheated on her—due to an apparent leak which neither I nor our mechanic (who had pressure-tested it TWICE) could find, it was only natural that we should start looking at new Fords. After all, FMCC was eager to finance us yet again, and offering us a ridiculously-low interest rate! But this time I decided to cast a wider net, using the internet—so with due diligence, I began researching other makes & models, as well; and before long, I’d had a stunning epiphany… In each of the three categories considered MOST crucial to automotive purchasing, I learned that the most-respected authorities in all three categories all agreed on one thing: SUBARU IS THE BEST CAR SOLD IN AMERICA! 1.) In fact, that isn’t my personal opinion: it is an exact quote –from Consumer Reports!! 2.) The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) ranks it #1 in resale value retention 3.) The National Highway Safety Administration (NHSA) gives every Subaru built its Highest Safety Rating—in fact, Subaru is the ONLY manufacturer that gets that rating ON EVERY CAR IT MAKES! We visited the Irvine dealership (which is actually in Lake Forest) twice—and as a former car salesman myself, I confess that the first visit was intended for no other reason than to determine how aggressive the sales staff would be… That’s when I got my second pleasant surprise: while we were not ignored (2 folks offered assistance), once I told them that we just wanted to look around a bit, we were allowed to do just that. And when we headed off the lot without asking for a test drive, we were allowed to do that, as well— without annoyance!! My wife speculated that they might be over-busy (or under-staffed)—but knowing what I did from my online research, I suspected that the truth was, Subaru itself discouraged use of such hi-pressure sales tactics—because their vehicles literally SELL THEMSELVES! This was proven true when we returned a second time, and were treated EXACTLY the same as before! Except this time, when WE were ready for a test drive, they were right there to make it happen—and the salesman answered our questions confidently, but without constantly “closing” us; later still, when WE were ready to sit down to learn about the many & varied purchase & lease options available to us, again we were impressed by the complete absence of customary “closing” phrases we recalled from our previous purchases! Whereas my wife & I had previously been forced to ignore such tactics as an annoying-but-apparently-unavoidable by-product of the car-buying experience at other dealerships, one of the first things we wanted to say to each other when we found ourselves alone was how noticeable those tactics seemed, here at Irvine Subaru—BECAUSE OF THEIR GLARING ABSENCE!! Since this is our first Subaru, I cannot yet personally comment on the accuracy of the rankings by Consumer Reports, NADA & NHSA; but surely, that’s more philosophical than intellectual— sort of like saying, “Since I haven’t yet ridden in THIS elevator, I cannot personally comment on its likelihood of reaching the top floor.” Philosophically rich, perhaps—but intellectually bereft… One thing I CAN tell you—and it’s the real reason I’ve taken the time to write this review: Had I never driven a Subaru, I might never have noticed how much “normal” cars shake & rattle – EVEN WHEN THEY’RE BRAND NEW!!! But I’ve now driven (& ridden in) our new Impreza under enough different road conditions to share with you the most noticeable difference between it and our previous new cars: THERE IS PRACTICALLY ZERO VIBRATION FROM THE ENGINE & DRIVE TRAIN!! On a smooth road, a passenger can practically close their eyes & imagine themselves sitting in a favorite armchair at home… Color me IMPRESSED!!!! Slight correction–I can tell you one other thing: if our Impreza ever DOES wear out & need to be replaced, I guess that’s when I’ll be buying my SECOND Subaru!!!Great Buying Experience

Drove an Outback, they had two in pearl white, a base and a limited with options we… wanted. After about an hour of discussion we bought the limited and drove it away. No hassle, no intimidation, just a great buying experience. We are thrilled with the car, keep finding features that we like. Give them a chance to sell you a Subaru without the usual games. Will probably go back there and buy another Subaru in a year.Fabulous!

He helped me get the most out of my… trade-in, and we were able to negotiate a better price than many other places that advertise they can get you the best deal. The whole transaction was smooth, fast and straightforward, no hidden pitches for anything. Michelle, in the finance department, was superb, efficient, clear, very professional. While doing all that, the service department was getting my new car ready, and it was waiting for me when I got done, in "showroom" condition. Dan gave me an introduction to all the different features and controls in the car, even helped me set up my Bluetooth in a couple of minutes. They all had a very personalized approach towards me, and that made for a very comfortable experience. I wish other businesses would follow their example. Right off the bat they told me the price of vehical and it was by far cheaper than any other… dealer offered me and instantly gave me the best offer available. The dealer has a great stock of vehicals and had the exact vehical i wanted in which no other dealer had. The dealership is very friendly and has a great family business feel to it. Im so stocked on what a good car buying experiance i had i could go on and on about it. Thanks Desi and the rest of the crew at Franks Subaru of Irvine.
