  • Extremely satisfied

    5 out of 5 starsby Hernandez98ana on 04/10/2017

I would recommend going to Valley Nissan in Longmont over any other dealership I know due to the fact that I was treated with amazing customer service and felt like I was part of the team in finding my new car rather than sitting on the sidelines. It was incredible to feel valued and know that they were there to fulfill my goals instead of take money out of my pocket. If you're looking to buy/lease/trade in for a car, I would highly recommend Valley Nissan and of course Eloy, the salesman who got me into the car of my dreams.
  • Reason Car dealers get a bad reputation

1 out of 5 starsby ericwink on 03/30/2017

For the record, I have never posted a review of a company online before and will likely never again, but I regret the day I ever set foot in this dealership and thought it necessary to warn people so they don't make the same mistake. The salesmen that swindled me at this dealership is the exact reason why car dealers get a bad reputation. The staff uses sales trickery tactics to get you into deals that you will not even realize what you signed until you have left the building. Make sure you get all the details they are mumbling under their breath and make sure you read and reread every word of the print before you sign anything at this dealership. In addition to the swindling, they also carry sub par models of vehicles on their lot. In my case, it was a base model Nissan Frontier. I did not require all of the bells and whistles, but what I did not realize is that the vehicle had zero lining along the bottom half of the car. Within weeks of purchase, I had paint flying off the sides of the car by the handful on a daily basis. When confronted with this issue, the Longmont Valley Nissan management simply took this as an opportunity to try and make more money off of me, after they had already ripped me off. When inspected by another Nissan dealer, it was quickly noted that this issue had already been painted over, therefore it was either well know by the previous owner or dealer. When you are sitting in the office at this dealership and the sales staff leaves to the next room to strategies the most effective manner to take advantage of you, make sure you figure out exactly what you are about to buy. Better yet, I suggest you never set foot in their door period. These guys will trick you, swindle you and rake you over the coals at every opportunity they get. Shame on this business. You have been warned....
  • Avoid Valley Nissan at all costs!

This place defines dishonesty, period. We were in the market for a new vehicle, and had gotten what seemed to be a decent quote over the internet from Valley Nissan - thinking that they would be reasonable to do business with, we went to go and complete our purchase. Upon our arrival, the salesman was very upset when he learned we wouldn't be trading anything - he then told us the quote we were given was not valid. We then showed him the quote we'd been given where no trade was involved, and he immediately started backpedaling (red flag #1). After "talking with his manager" for 20 minutes or so, he returned and said that they would honor what they'd said, although they were under no obligation to do so (red flag #2). We were very hesitant after hearing this, but as it was a new vehicle we wanted to purchase, we figured that not too terribly much could go wrong. We had already spent a significant amount of time to get to where we were with the purchase and didn't care to start over elsewhere. Big mistake! All seemed well until the finance manager, Phil G, came back with a loan rate that was 2 percentage points higher than what we'd been quoted through Nissan directly! (red flag #3) We have excellent credit & know what is available, through manufacturers as well as our bank. When confronted with this, Phil said that this "was the very best he could do" (red flag #4). We told him that was absolutely unacceptable and that we would under no circumstances take the rate offered - we'd simply finance through Chase at a nearly 2.5% lower rate (we inquired before even looking at cars). At this point, Phil, the finance manager, got visibly agitated & began to question if we were even serious about buying (the last warning anybody would need in this situation). We informed him that he had lost this car deal for his dealership, and that we would not be quiet about our experience, which we have not been. The manager on duty that day Jake Liberatore, was "not available" according to Phil, so we took off at this point, never to return for any reason. We have told everyone we know about the aggressive, high-pressure tactics employed by the management at Valley Nissan, and made it known that nobody should ever do business here, as this store does not deserve their dollars. *Jake Liberatore - We've seen your apologies in other reviews for your staff's underhanded doings, please don't bother with that in response to this review. We don't want to call you, we don't want to discuss, we don't want to "go over everything with you" as you implore others to do - so no need to drop your number or some superficial statement about "how sorry you are" about this situation. You had your chance to make good on all of this while we were in your facility, wanting to buy something from you. Frankly, you sound fairly pathetic in your responses to legitimate customer complains, acting as if these are occasional/isolated incidents. You realize you wouldn't have to do any of that if your employees were honest and treated people with respect, right? Damage control does nothing in a situation like this - perhaps if you'd have made yourself available that day (we know you were there as the receptionist confirmed your presence), something could have been done.* Valley Nisssan's culture of utter disrespect and contempt towards their customers must come form the top down - terrible employees are only employed & tolerated by terrible management. Phil, along with Jake, are truly an embarrassment to the car sales industry overall - their behavior and attitude (while somewhat typical) is precisely why people do not trust dealerships and find the car buying experience to be rather unnerving. The ownership would be well served by getting rid of both of these "managers", and finding some staff that actually wants to treat customers with some respect and appreciation. Direct-to-consumer sales, a la Tesla, will have these people's jobs fading into obscurity soon enough. We can't wait for that day to be here.
    • Mr. Green, I am not happy to hear about your experience and I know you have asked for me to not even try to reach out to you, but I do feel like that it is something that needs to happen as I truly care about my customers and feel they are my top priority. That being said I would like to have a conversation in regards to your experience and I understand that I might have lost the opportunity to work with you but I can work towards making sure this behavior does not happen in the dealership as based on what I am reading it is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. That being said I would love to visit with you so that I can get to the bottom of this and get it cleared up. My name as you know is Jake Liberatore and you can reach me at 303-776-0443.I look forward to speaking with you Mr. Green.

  • Great Internet Sales

3.4 out of 5 starsby fxoffroad on 01/04/2010

When we purchased our Subaru Outback - we internet shopped and got quotes from several dealers in the Denver metro area. While other dealerships kept e-mailing us, to find out about color and options and such - Valley's quote was accurate (ie. they read the information we submitted on Edmunds - which I guess pushes inquires out to the dealers) including color and options. Valley Subaru's lease price was so accurate that our lease payments match the original quote (including fees & taxes). Months after we purchased, we were still getting e-mails and calls from other dealers - even after we told them we purchased a vehicle. At Valley, there was some seemingly excessive time signing papers, which was a little annoying and the sales manager seemed like an actor when we negotiated the price on the trade (which had no bearing on the lease - we owed less than the balance of the loan). Otherwise the Internet sales team was exceptional. Well worth the drive from Denver.
  • Will Never buy from them again

    1.6 out of 5 starsby cischris6 on 11/29/2008

Don't make the same mistake I did. Be prepared for these guys. They will use every trick in the book to get you to buy the day you set foot in the dealership. I was not prepared because I never planned on buying they day we were there. I take the blame for my mistake but hope to keep others from making the same. These guys are high pressure sales. The first thing our salesman said was they were not high pressure sales when in fact the whole day was high pressure. We said 5 times that we did not want to buy today. We wanted to see what there offer was and test drive. We sat there over 5 hours before we finally left with the car. And we were the only ones who bought a car the whole day. Stick to your guns. The bottom line is I screwed up with the help of a sales team that sells cars every day. They don't care about making sure you are happy with everything and explaining things. They are out for themselves and selling you what they want to sell you and hoping that your inexperience in buying a car will work in there favor. Don't make my mistake, don't trust them and have all your ducks in a row. Do all you research. Speak up if something doesn't seem right. Don't believe for a minute they are looking out for your best interest and making you happy with what you need and want. And In my opinion car dealers can make you happy while still making money for themselves. I got my last car from a Nissan Dealership in PA and was totally satisfied and didn't feel pressured or pushed the entire day and was out of there in 3 hours. Here is what you need to be aware of with them: 1. When they give you an offer make sure you find out exactly where the number came from. They told us one thing and then when the final numbers were on paper they weren't the same because they had added in the rebate after telling us we would worry about financing later but if we took the rebate we couldn't get the .9 Financing we wanted. Seemed like classic bait and switch to me. Make sure every number is accounted for. Car Price, Trade, Rebates and Incentives and anything else. Taxes will be added later after they try to offer you things. 2. The will offer you gap insurance. Gap Insurance covers the gap between the value of the car and what you owe on the car should the car be totaled. If you have a large trade or down payment you don't need it because you will owe less than what the car is worth. 3. They will offer you theft protection. That's up to you. 4. They will offer you an extended warranty. You can get extended warranties cheaper from outside companies. Just make sure you do your research as to what is covered if you want an extended warranty. It is not cheap from the dealership and it cannot be cancelled once you sign the paperwork. 5. They will offer you a number of things that we declined and I don't remember what they were. I know one was the whole fabric and body protection. The finance guy talked to us a mile a minute and did not go over things in detail. He gave the papers for us to sign and did not explain to us anything of the fine print or on the back side. Just make sure that you read all of this and are comfortable with it. They will not volunteer information unless you think of asking about it. Like I said, when you've only bought a couple cars and it is years apart you probably won't think of everything. Bottom line is that they are pushy and pressure, pressure, pressure. I will never buy from them again. I will take my medicine and learn from the mistakes I made. I hope anyone who reads this will think twice of buying from this dealership but if you feel you must for whatever reason please take my advice. Because they won't care if you didn't know something or were confused, or missed something. Don't be afraid to walk out if the numbers aren't what they told you or seem off. After I called to complain they first offered me a Nissan Hat, then 2 Free Oil
  • From bad to worse...

1.5 out of 5 starsby lindser on 11/07/2008

Terrible.... I was in the market for a used Forester. The sales guys were incompotent and couldn't tell me any of the technical spec of the car. Only the sales pitch from the book. Pushy and generally worthless. When closing the deal the sales guy didn't accept my first 2 times telling him no for the warranty. Then the dealership messed up the title... twice. I couldn't get plates for over 2 months. They then botched the warranty paperwork (after all that work to get me to buy it) and took several layer of management to admit the mistake. Even when they admitted it was their mistake the only apology was 'it's a big dealership and things like this happen'. The car was only 4 years old with about 100k miles... Despite their repeated confirmation about the intense inspection process I had a CEL within 2 months of buying the car. Low compression in cylinder 1 that required close to 3k in repairs to machine the heads, replace the valves and a complete engine tear down. The only good thing about the purchase or service ended up being the warranty they sold me that covered about 60% of the needed repairs.
  • We had a GREAT expreience at Valley Subaru!

    4.2 out of 5 starsby mark_carrie on 09/13/2008

Car buying can be a stressful experience, but this was as smooth as it gets. I started out knowing pretty much what I was looking for. Valley Subaru had a large selection on their lot and had the color and model I wanted. I emailed Deb on the inet and asked for a quote. She responed quickly with a good price. When we arrived the car was ready for us to drive. The price remained the same as quoted and to boot we got a fair deal on are trade. After the purchase, Brian O went over the car bumper to bumper to explain all the features on the car. Thanks Valley Subaru
  • Avoid them like the plague!!!

1 out of 5 starsby sgloon on 05/29/2008

Got what appeared to be a good quote. Asked them to get the car. (the car was not on their lot). The called to say my car was there. Test drove it, and immediately started the paper work to buy. got all the credit/and other stuff. Then, turns out they wanted to charge me $2k more than quoted. They "came down" $1k and "threw in" the Homelink mirror which was in the original quote, but not on this car. they still wanted me to pay $1k more than quoted. I said no. At this point, they said it was a "different car". No warning that the price had gone up until it was time to write the check. Just expected you to pony up the extra $1000 without even telling you what the "differences" between cars were or letting me know the MSRP/Invoice prices for this supposedly "different" vehicle. [violative content deleted] I felt totally lied to. Do not deal with these people. The quoted car is sitting in another dealers lot 20 miles away.
    • I contacted the owner. He sounded concerned, at first. Said he would look into it. He got back to me later that afternoon. Good response time. He said "The $1000 down payment is added to the price we quoted for the vehicle to get to the total purchase price of the vehicle." That was a new one on me. The owner was unwilling to honor a written internet quote that stated "no additional dealer or handling fees. Price is plus taxes only." I had better quotes from other dealers in the area than the "final" price they wanted me to pay. That they whined they couldn't go any lower than... If they couldn't go any lower, why did they quote me $1000 less? The Bait & Switch goes all the way to the top. Good luck if you try to buy a car here.

  • Total waste of time

1 out of 5 starsby carmacazi on 05/07/2008

Tried to charge more than there advertised price for the car and I don't mean just dealer fees, offered more than $4000 dollars less than conservative book value for trade. The internet sales manager has been sending me harassing e-mails.
  • Good Internet Sales Team. Good quote. No silly back to forth.

4.5 out of 5 starsby mangud on 12/27/2007

I recommend Valley Subaru. Their Internet Team (Deb Salisbury, etc) are prompt in responding and offering quotes. I asked for a quote and I got a response immediately. They followed it up too. The quote I got is a good quote. I would have liked to buy it from them. On a lark, I called another recommended dealer who is rather far. I got a little better quote that I had to consider. If you want honest and straight forward sales experience, Give Valley Subaru a try. They maynot be the flashiest but they work hard to satisfy a customer. --- M
  • Buyer Beware

Buyer beware of this dealership. My brother in law purchased a used vehicle from Valley. The car had several defects that were pointed out before the car sale. Although the salesman said they would be fixed, they never were. When we inquired about fixes after the sale, the dealer shoved an "As Is" agreement in our faces. This dealership is the definition of deceptive trade practices. Basically, take every bad stereo-type about salesman at car dealerships and you have Valley Subaru and Nissan. I would strongly recommend that you purchase your next car elsewhere.

My wife and I had a terrible sales experience at this dealer. Bait-and-switch pricing, and when we called them on it, they STILL tried to sneak in a higher sales price with the final paperwork. We just walked away in disgust. Several friends are aware of our experience, and one couple also verified the sleazy tactics to make more money on a sale. Stay away!!
  • Never Buy a car from this dealership!

NEVER BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP! I love our new Subaru we bought last year, but buying it from Valley Subaru in Longmont was the worst mistake we ever made! After purchasing the car, Morgan in the sales department told us they didn't have the accessories we agreed on as part of the deal, and that she’d get them to us in the following week or so. When we came back, she tried to give us USED parts, that they were pulling from cars they received as trade-in’s. We were also lied to when we purchased the service plan from the finance department. Adam, who does their finance and legal paperwork gave us this whole story about all the service that Subaru recommended in the first 45k miles, and how three of the services involved were $400+ worth of work, so it made the plan worth the money. However, over the last year and multiple times we’ve taken the car in to actually have the service performed, we got a completely different story from the service department. The managers Mike and Roger told us that they only performed the service that was ‘required’ based on their opinion of the condition the car was in. So essentially, all the expensive service work we pre-paid for was just wasted money, because they weren’t even going to do any of it. To make it worse, we discovered the service department isn’t even performing the service they say they are doing and charging us for. I have an invoice from our last service that details out the oil change and tire rotation they said they performed. However, I knew beforehand that one of my tires had a nail it, I didn’t mention it to them, but checked the following day and that tire was still in the same location. The tires are easy to verify, but if they’re not actually rotating the tires after they charged us for it, who knows what else they’re charging us for and not actually doing!?! Take it or leave it, but there’s a lot of Subaru dealerships out there, and I wish we had bought our car from anywhere but this one.
    • Drew, I am sadden to hear about your experience with us as that is not how we conduct business. We would like to visit with you more on it and explore if there might be anything we can do to reconcile our relationship with you. Again, I am sorry to hear about your issues you had with us and I assure you they will get addressed. We appreciate the feed back as well so that we can work on improving! You can contact me at 303-776-0443 and ask for Jake.

Pricing bate and switch .. quoted price of $3,900 on '99 Sentra. They always said when asked the price "I think its $3,900" didn't list the price on their web site. When it came time to make the deal, upped the price to $6,600. These guys are the sleaziest. Don't do business them! "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau.

I found Valley by internet and was responded to by Morgan Steinbeck. Very courteous and super fast...When we came to the store they were so laid back, no pressure. It was basically like buying a car from friends, they didn't make my wife or myself feel like another number. I LOVE my new outback. However, two days later my check engine light came on so I called her. She responded immediately, sent a tow truck TO OUR HOUSE, dropped us off a loaner car and found out less than an hour later that we did not tighten our gas cap! How embarrasing but I'm really impressed that any dealership would do that. Thanks Morgan and Valley Subaru, we'll definately be back when our lease is up!

Buying our new Nissan Juke here was a positive experience from start to finish. Got a great price for my trade-in and a good financing deal with no pressure, just straight answers from Jim our salesperson and James the sales manager. We went in unsure of what we wanted and came away with exactly the right car. Everyone is very customer-oriented here.
  • Valley paid too much for trade-in, made bogus excuse to get their car back

1 out of 5 starsby valleyvile on 03/26/2011
    updated 04/26/2025

My wife and I traded in our 2005 Subaru Outback for a newer model with fewer miles and nicer options. We weren't in dire need of a new car, but thought we'd see what kind of a deal we could get. Besides, the sales team was really into the pressure of it all, so we played along. Just because we were willing to play does not mean that we were going to break our budget for them to get a sale. The more they persisted, the more I insisted on a price lower than their "best deal," and within our budget. After a few hours, we came to an agreement, and my wife and I left with an affordable car that had all the bells and whistles. A few weeks later, I received a call from the salesman that Valley wanted me to quietly return the car. I was first told something was "wrong" with the 2005 I traded in. When I asked for them to put it on paper, the salesman said he'd call back. A manager later called. To my surprise, my car was "involved in a flood." Again, I asked for it to be put in ink, and that I'd pass it on to my attorney for review. He said he'd call me right back. But wait! There's more! I then got a call from the dealership head, and was told that I scammed them because I did not tell him (yes, him) that my wife and I "resided in a flood plain." On the contrary. First off, the salesman and I joked about moving to Colorado when our family lived less than a mile from the beach. Second, my car was never in a flood, because the southwest Florida neighborhood in which we lived hadn't flooded in recent memory. Third, and most importantly, Valley Nissan Subaru was simply beat at their own game. Their propensity for bad business backfired. I had a strict budget, and sticking to it was not an option. It seems their plan was to give in to my financial needs for the sole purpose of meeting a quota in hard times, and then pass their loss of judgement onto you, the consumer. When customers did not bite, they broke their word and contract. The car that I traded in, the one that was "flooded," and "from a flood plain," was made available to you, the unsuspecting consumer. When I called their bluff, I was told that they would come after me with their legal team, and that I would be charged $50/day plus a fee per mile for the three weeks I had the car. I just wanted a nice car, and by tearing up our agreement that was sealed with a handshake and smile, Valley Nissan Subaru spit in the face of dealers who do business the correct way. They spit in the face of consumers who place trust in dealerships to not rip them off. Valley Nissan Subaru furthered the stereotype that all "used car salesmen" are similar to [violative content deleted] that prey on average people who are just trying to live a happy life. If the salesman had just owned up to the fact that the dealership misjudged the value of my car, that they made a sincere mistake, and had not tried to lie to get the car back, I would have returned the car, and not still resent the dealer a few years later. Just remember that there is a reason for their poor rating from the BBB. Remember that there is a reason for all of the negative comments left. Finally, remember that there are breaches in trust for each voice heard in this global forum. Support local business, but first make sure it's good business that's being practiced.

I am the worst at the car buying game.. as in rude and to the point with sales.. the bottom line is always the money. I knew what I wanted when my wife and I walked on the lot. we had done the homework. Rod approached us and never took offense to anything I had to say, he stayed proffessional. Within about 15 minutes I had already made an offer and the sales manager was involved and telling me I was crazy, and I was driving away to go somewhere else when Rod stopped me and said He might have what I was looking for after all.. at the price I wanted too pay and about 10 minutes later we were doing the paper work on a new Altima S... Rod was one of the most professional sales persons I have met in a long time. If your considering Valley Nissan definately talk to Rod he will work hard to get you exactly what you want.
