Awesome
by Vstein on 06/23/20152nd time purchasing within 3 months from Sheman a Dodge. Have to say both times our experience was nothing but great! First purchase our salesman Lanny went out of his way to come in on is day off which was much appreciated! 2nd purchase… Bob Kay and Abe exceeded my expectations in helping us find and get the car we wanted. Also have to thank Victor for getting us in and out during the last part of the deal after a long day. Defiantly will recommend to any one looking to purchase. Awesome experience, great job to all!!!FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!

Pushy salesmen don't know when to let you go
by ipstenu on 11/16/2009My friend bought a car from here and was very happy, so when I said I was looking for a car, she offered to give me a lift out there to shop. The people were polite enough when we walked in, happy to show us around, let us test drive three… cars, explained why some cars ran better than others. They don't have a lot of eco-friendly cars, which I didn't like, only flex fuel, and those were pretty limited. The used stock was varied, but unimpressive. If my review stopped there, it would be pretty solid. The problem was when we said 'Well, we like this car, but we want to shop around and look at other cars.' Out came the manager who sat us down, chatted, and asked what he could do to put us in that car today. We said 'Nothing. We want to go home and think about this.' I wasn't sold on the make/model (Jeep), and I had yet to test drive from other companies. But they kept pushing, pushing. Lowering the price, offering incentives, throwing the car at us to make the sale RIGHT NOW. And I hated it. We walked away and, as every mile between us grew, I felt better and better. The next day, they called, dropping the price on the car by $5k. Red warning bells went off, and I researched the car here and on KBB.com only to find how terrible it was. So we said no thank you. The calls kept coming for another week until I explained "We bought a Ford." Were it not that my friend had her car through them, I would have been meaner, but instead I thanked them for their time and said "If anyone I know is looking for a Jeep, Dodge or Chrysler, I'll recommend you." It's no lie, but I won't be recommended a Jeep, Dodge or Chrysler to anyone any time soon. If ever.STAY AWAY!!! PLEASE BEWARE!!!!
by nlisa on 08/14/2009The entire used car portion of this dealership is a sham of [violative content deleted]. I was called by Santino and Mike of Sherman Dodge and told I was pre approved for a loan of 25,000 at 13% interest with no money down and 2 months no… car note. I got there and Mike who said he sees people "by appointment" so he can give them "personal attention" was "busy with another client" I was told by this young black guy (cannot remember his name). This new guy then proceeds to ask me questions as if they do not already have my information (I applied online, had been speaking with Mike and Santino and had been pre approved, remember!) One of my degrees is in psychology....having tier 3 or 4 credit does not equate to being desperate or unknowledgeable. This used car lot uses a typical bait and switch system. The guy I arranged everything with for a specific car (over the phone) was not available (but i can see him walking back and forth doing nothing while im sitting there with the other guy). so Im working with another guy who then *tries* to infuse confusion by acting like he's going to do me a "favor". They did not follow up on the package discussed with me over the phone. Actually, I spoke to Mike about two specific cars. When I got there the guy is gone for 10 minutes trying to find the keys only to come back to me to say the car was sold. When I said I spoke to Mike about the car the night before (red infiniti that still shows as available on their website RIGHT NOW) before and was not notified it had been sold....so he then shows me a BMW. The BMW had no sticker on it, had DL plates, and was about 6,000 miles over advertised on their website - basically it was obvious that someone there is using it as a personal car. After the "test drive" this guy needed to go into an office with 5 other salesman (you can see them behind a glass wall) only to come out to tell me the price of the car is $10000 more (and 6000 miles over that listed on the website!) Of course I had a printout of in the info on the car so I challanged him and he tells me it was "probably a different BMW." I give him the stock number from their website, he walks away with it for 5 minutes and comes back with no answer! He then proceeds to tell me they appraised my current vehicle ($9500 appraised fully loaded Nissan with sport pkg by two reputable sources) for $4000!!!!! This is when I left! They insult your intelligence and the population of custormers that you see in there really appear to be desperate or uneducated. Neither of which is me. Do yourself a favor and stay away from them. They are a prime true to life example of the stereotypes you have always heard of regarding used car sales...! Also, they do not know show you anything on the vehicle like most car salesman do...they leave you alone with the car (because as another person's review already mentioned) they do not know anything about the cars! They only care about trying to get you at a table to sell it. Strange! They are awful.
by cmelazzo on 03/24/2009I will try to tell me story as quickly as possible. Was in the market for a used car. Saw a Saab of theirs online. Went in to look at it. When I voiced concern over the reliability of a car with a turbo (the saab I looked at has a… turbo on it), he assured me that the car didn't have a turbo. Surprise, surprise... they lied, the car does have a turbo. They also assured me that the car had been serviced, and was in good condition. They also said that I had a 3 month powertrain warranty on the vehicle. Again, a lie. When the engine needed replacing, they claimed that the failure had been caused by a part not covered under the warranty, therefore the repairs to the engine weren't under warranty. LIES LIES LIES. Here is what has happened since I bought the car 4 months ago: 4 times my car has died. 3 times I had to have it towed. 3 times they said there wasn't any major issues when I brought it to their service dept. 4 times they failed to diagnose the failing coolant pump which eventually caused my entire engine to fail. 1 time I have had to have the engine replaced (they claimed the warranty didn't cover this). 2 times I had to bring the car back after the engine was replaced (1 time the same day I picked it up), because it would stall and the check engine light would come on. Finally I took the car to a reputable dealer, who looked it over. Here were all the problems that they had failed to catch: 2 front sway bar links needed replacing -Rear brakes had not been attached properly when last serviced... the entire rear brakes (rotors and pads) now needed to be replaced. -Radiator had crack in it -Hoses to transmission were bad -Throttle body was bad and needed replacing -Serpentine belt was bad. -Coolant hoses had been routed wrong when the engine was replaced. Overall... I have had to put more money into fixing the car in the 4 months since I owned it, than I did purchasing the car in the first place. Sherman dodge is the worst.IF YOU HAVE BAD CREDIT PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS [violative content deleted].
by kalua on 12/26/2008When i went to the dealership i got in trhogh "the wrong door"a salesman immediatly asked me if i had bad credit when i asked for joe,i said no and he send me in a not so nice way back outside to a different door onthe back of the bldg. in… a make up office for people like me i guess, long story short they tried to the most to get me on their cars even though they said over the phone they could get me the suv i wanted on the auction with no problems,i waste 3 hours and they finally got me an "approval" for an suv hell thy even had my cousin who was with me at the time sign as a cosigner, even if eh is not working at the time, they said it will help, well that was more than a week ago and still no suv mi credit will go even lower and when i call to the number that robert t. the "manager" gave me somebody else answers the phone pretending to be him,and sayin its all right suv is comong from florida thats whys taking long,"LET ME CALL MY GUY TO FIND OUT WHERE HE IS AND ILL CALL YOU BACK IN 10 MINUTES" i even told guy (robert t.) if it is really his name if he didnt call me just forget about the deal or just tell me honestly if i should go somewhere else or work on my credit ,i just got more lies and lies,DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT PUT A FOOT ON THIS DEALERSHIP UNLESS YOU ARE BUYIN THE CAR WITH CASH OR YOU HAVE 800+ POINTS ON YOUR CREDIT SCORE even with a bankrupcy more than a year ago i managed to get my scor over 620 but thanks to this [violative content deleted] dealers now i will be back down again, THEIS IS WHY DOMESTIC CARMAKERS DONT SELL SQUAD ANYMORE.Used Car Buyers-Go Someplace Else!
by morpheus2 on 12/27/2007I was never victim of a swindle until now, but in the past, I'd always dealt with reputable dealers. These people portrayed themselves as "angels of mercy", letting me split my down payment in half with two checks they would deposit on my… next two paydays. The 2000 Ford Focus they showed me and made a big fuss over had some obvious flaws which I had to ask for them to take care of. It was snowing that day and I had driven another car out there, so I obviously wasn't planning on taking it with me that day. But they were all too happy to let me have it "as is." I had to ask them to do an inspection on the engine, the brakes, brake shoes, lines, etc. . . When I got the car a few days later, my salesman told me the car was ready, except for the scratches on the rear bumper. Now he was saying I had to make an appointment for that. The car ran okay for four days, then died out on me. At this point, I wanted out of the deal and I told them they would have to send a tow-truck for the car, and I wanted my checks mailed back to me. When the guys and the tow-truck arrived, they took a look at the engine. Earlier I had tried to turn the car on, but only got a clicking sound. He immediately saw the problem and so did I. I know very little about cars, but I know blue goo is not supposed to come out of the battery. He said the battery was corroded, which is why it wouldn't start. He gave it a jump and it started, but he didn't know how long it would last. I told them to take it away as planned. On the day that the first check was to be deposited, or rather that night, my phone rang. It was a man from Sherman Dodge who bellowed, "you owe me $400!" I told him the dealership had my two checks. He said they don't take checks, but he could do a debit over the phone. I refused and said I'd be speaking to my salesman tomorrow, which I did. Now he was saying that was just the way they did things. I asked him why he didn't say so at the beginning, to which he did not have much of an answer. I am so angry at these people for thinking that I was sufficiently gullible enough to accept a car with 85,000 miles on it without them doing a thing to it. Well, they did something to the car. When I took the test drive, I didn't hear any noise. Once I had the car, there were two distinct noises, one of which got progressively louder. I'm filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, because the business practices of Sherman Dodge in Skokie, Illinois are shady, manipulative, and dishonest.Pricing Scam!
by Mamadontplay on 04/29/2014updated 04/26/2025This place is why car dealerships have a horrendous reputation; they are a bold faced scam artists. We went to Sherman on saturday looking for a Dodge Dart to purchase for our daughter as a graduation present. After researching the web, we… were thrilled to see Sherman had what we wanted for 5k below another dealer we were looking at. We started our day at the other dealers store and had the sales guy give us a quote, we then told them we saw it cheaper at Sherman, he was very patient the quote he gave was as low as he could go and told us we would be back. I initially thought that guy was the typical [non-permissible content removed] because he could not offer us the Sherman online price but boy was I wrong. After arriving at Sherman we showed the sales guy our other deal from their competitor and said we wanted the online price they were offering of around 14k. Well low and behold it was a bait and switch , apparently we had to qualify for one hundred various rebates incentives etc.. basically it was something insane like if we were a graduating college student, who was a veteran, who owned a small business, with one eye, red hair and was born in iceland would we then qualify for All of these rebates. So I said fine could he do better than the other dealer.. he walks away and comes back 10 minutes later and said .. actually I am really sorry but that car was just sold however I have another one I want you to see.. at that point I lost it..my husband and I quickly left and called the other dealer from our car.. he was actually very nice considering we had left earlier "in search of a better deal". We bought the car from the first dealer Not Sherman. And I advise everyone to look elsewhere and do not waste your day getting the run around from Sherman like we did.Don't believe the price
by guinessman on 10/07/2011updated 04/26/2025They are misleading about the pricing but if you have your head on your shoulders you can walk away with a good deal. They try to sell you something ridiculous every step of the way, but don't they all? One thing I really did not appreciate… were the "standard" charges added to the prices, including window etching ($400) and hydrogen in the tires for ($99) which I refused to pay and didn't. Again, you have to pay attention and catch these things. I did and in the end I walked away with a great deal. I love my car. I will not service my car there because they seemed so dishonest in the sale of the car. This is a perfect example of how you DON'T retain a customer. Be diligent, pay attention, know what you should pay and how much your trade in is worth. If you do, go ahead and deal away. They will honor a fair bargain. I actually liked the manager I worked with because he was willing to negotiate fast and hard. We reached a mutually acceptable deal fairly quickly. I was a little disappointed by the lack of preparation. By car came with no manuals, no antenna, and only one set of keys. I had to make a special trip back to pick up the second key (it was locked for the night when I bought the car) and the rest of my stuff. Just not very professional or customer friendly service. Overall, if you feel comfortable dealing with a sneaky dealer, you can sure make a good deal. Just remember, they have to make some money, too. It's why they are in business. Be fair and courteous but watch for the sneaky charges.2011 Jeep Patriot 10miles
by mrsgscott on 07/26/2011updated 04/26/2025I live in the city, about 15-20miles away from Sherman Dodge. I received a phone call from Sam while I was at another dealer whom attempted to sell me a car with 70k miles on it. I was insulted; yet when Sam called me I was completely… honest with him. He asked me what kind of a car I wanted, I told him I wanted a reliable car with a price that made sense. Sam assured me that I would not be wasting my time driving all the way from Chicago to Skokie. I arrived at 5pm, on a Saturday and was out by 7ish'. I can't tell you that I have ever purchased a brand new vehicle in 2-2 1/2 hours!!! Outstanding service, I would recommend that anyone who is seeking good service, and a reliable car to come to Sherman Dodge Chrysler Jeep. How could I forget, I drove off the lot with a brand new 2011 Jeep Patriot!!!Great truck great price
by reseeding on 06/04/2011updated 04/26/2025I purchased a used gmc Yukon from Sherman last week and I love the truck I got a great price they even gave me a $1000 more for my trade than I thought it was worth Great place thanks to my sales person Anthonywhen it comes to customer service, these guys have no clue
by hakeemish on 04/22/2011updated 04/26/2025to not have to write this over again, this is the email i sent another dealership in my area : only thing i didn't mention in this email is after a year, only a year after purchasing a "new" 2008 charger with 3,000 miles on it, the breaks… went out and they charged me a $1000 to replace it. how do break go out in a year?!! that wasn't even the worst of my experience at sherman, read on.... I am reaching out to your location in hopes of hopefully getting a better experience than the ones I've had with sherman dodge. I bought a 2008 charger from that location, and even after receiving sub par service, went back to that dealership in hopes of purchasing a 2011 dodge charger se. i hate to write a long email, but i was treated very rudely by the management staff at this store. when i originally went to sherman dodge in 2008, i was appalled at how arrogant and condescending the manager i dealt with was, not to mention rude. the sales person was ok, but me being from the sales and customer service industry myself, i am a more of a knowledgable consumer than most. in other words, i know how the sales environment works, as i am a retail manager my self. that doesn't give a manager of any type of location the right to talk down to a customer. going on, my sales person, after days of negotiating to close me on the price i saw on the dealer website!(the fact i was patient for this process should tell you how my experience was), made it sound like i was getting things included with my car for free(a "special" paint and "special anti theft system) which i actually ended up paying more for which i found out during the payment process, as the total price on a 18,000 purchase after tax title license was 24000! i asked the cashier to explain why it was so high, and he said because i was purchasing "extra" equipement that turned out to be the items that the sales person was painting as included in the price i was paying. after getting "conned", i still wanted to give this dealership a shot since i like to stay loyal. my last visit was the last straw. i saw a price of 21,995 for a 2011 dodge charger on autotrader that actually showed a sherman dodge price! after i finally meet back up with my sales person from 3 years ago, he gives me some bs that 25,000 is the best price he can give me on one, and the price on autotrader is if i was in the military and worked for ups, since, according to him " a lot of our customers are in the military and work for ups, which is why we have that price on the website". finally after some more negotiating, the price was brought down to 22,900 and was presented as if they were doing me a favor. the last straw was the manager telling me it was impossible for me to get a white charger because of, and i quote him "some shortage in japan"... i told this manager that i really had my heart set on a white one, and he looks at me with a disgusted and arrogant face and tells me "well good luck, because you arent' going to find any white ones till at least next January"... really? that's how you treat a customer? i'm telling you, me being a manager myself, and thankfully a much better one than this guy, would never treat a customer like that. finally, as I'm leaving, the other sales guy that was assisting me looked embarrassed for his managers actions, and kindly told me "i'm sorry for that, but we'll take care of you. come back to sherman dodge, we should have some by tuesday, don't go any where else, we'll take care of you." at least this guy was trying to be nice, or atleast did a good job of pretending like he cared about me. and once again this location let me down and i've finally had it. that was last thursday and i have yet to get a call back from this dealership. i actually had to call myself today, and my sales person told me there were 3! my question is , why didn't he proactively contact me?! i actually called him 2 times today, and each time he tells me he'll get back to me in half an hour?! it's obvious these guys don't know how to do business, as i've yet to hear back from him. I've never received as poor service as i've received from sherman dodge. i was also looking at a camaro recently to keep my options open, and honestly to put a long story short about this experience, the chevy dealership guys have treated me like a customer is supposed to be treated. i would hate to miss out on purchasing the car i really want to purchase because of lack of customer service, and go with a chevy camaro instead, which right now is my second choice after the 2011 charger. which brings me to you guys. i wanted to find a dodge dealership that would take care of me, and after doing research you guys have pretty good reviews and are dealer rater certified. i'm trying to remain loyal to dodge because i love the charger. It boggles my mind how i proactively reached out to sherman dodge , even after my initial mediocre experience, and i was still treated poorly. all i want is a white 2011 dodge charger se at atleast the price i see on autotrader, 21,995. i am not looking to trade because i am selling my 2008 charger to my brother, and i am looking to purchase in full. i have worked hard to save up money for this new model, and i hope you guys are able to provide me with the good customer experience that sherman failed so horrible in executing. thank you. ps. they're lucky 1 star is the lowest i can give em... enough said.Bate and switch
by thinktwice2 on 12/08/2013updated 04/26/2025Zero stars. Never going here again. Was told over the phone, yes the cars is here an hour later the story was that it was just sent out to another dealer. How about this other model?WARNING! Sherman Dodge pricing is a SCAM!
by maggiemae2 on 02/14/2012updated 04/26/2025Sherman Dodge is a rip-off. They quoted me a price online and when I got there they totally changed the price back to MSRP. Ron Collins, Jason, Louis/Luis, and Joe Segreti are all [non-permissible content removed]. Stay away from this… dealer unless you like being scammed and ripped-off!RIP-OFF! Sherman Dodge pricing is a SCAM!
by Hippo_LowB on 11/06/2013updated 04/26/2025Learned my lesson in the hard way! NEVER made deposit before you see the Bill of Sale! NEVER believe the sales-man at Sherman Dodge. When they said they will give you something for free to have the deal, you better have that in writing… saying that is FREE! I got rip-off 10k buying 2 cars from them at the same time, after we negotiate the price for two 2013 Dodge Dart, the sales-man told me they will give me the LoJack for free to have me buy the car from them. After some math games and we have the deal to buy the car for 20k and after I made a 1000 dollars deposit on both cars, they end up charged me 5000 dollars each car for the (Dealer Installed Option) on the Bill of Sale, included 3k for the LoJack and 2k for some clear coating package which they never mention. I got rip-off 10k!!! if I don't sign the contract, I lost 2k for deposit.
