Worst Car Purchase Ever
by BariCal on 07/27/2024I should have known by the filthy condition of the 2020 Ford Escape that Donnie sold us that this was not a dealership that took pride in their product. However, the car had all the bells, whistles and safety features we were looking for,… so we gave in to our 16 year-old who loved the car and was paying for the majority of the purchase. Donnie was diffucult to understand and very frustrating to deal with. The car was still dirty when we picked it up a couple of days so that it could br properly detaijled, (crumbs in the console, stains on the cloth seats (that I was able to remove myself)). What transpired over the next week was nothing short of stressful and scary. The car started to shake after the first day home, the sunroof’s shade woukd not close and one of the doors woukd not lock! This was on a a Friday. I called Donnie and he told me to bring it in on the following Tuesday. I brought it in to the service dept Tuesdsy morning at 8:30 when Donnie said they opened and, of course, they didn’t open until 9. Very long, harrowing story short, our car had a post production turbo (that’ NO ONE KNEW ABOUT) that had not been properly installed, which accounted for, not only the shaking, but had punctured the catalytic converter. During this time I could not reach Donnie nor the pre-owned sales manager, Jason. My only point person was my service consultant, Chuck, which is the only reason I gave Byerly any star at all. Finally, after much grief, Jason agreed to take the car back and refund our money. But even THAT was stressful, as Jason said that everything had been taken care of with regard to the lender, but 4 days later, we still had an active loan with Huntington! Jason was out of the office and Jeff, the finance guy was, first, out to lunch, then, gone for the day (at 2 pm)! The following day, after 2 more phone calls, Vee, the receptionist, tracked him down and got him in the phone. Jeff then explained that Jason did not explain things properly (shocker) and that Byerly would first have to cut a check to Huntingto, overnight it, and then, at some point, cancel the loan. None of this had been explained to me and this was 4 days after “returning” the car, and 2 days after trying to get in touch with the finance manager. I could go on, but you get the picture. Would never go back to Byerly, but would follow Chuck to another service station, should he ever leave!Byerly Ford takes all customer concerns and satisfaction seriously and wants to provide the best customer service possible in any situation. Yes, it was very unfortunate what happened mechanically to this car. Somehow a bolt has come loose on a motor mount which caused the shaking, something we have never seen before. Once we had discovered what had happened, the pre-owned manager, Jason immediately offered a complete refund for the purchase for fear that the loose bolt could have possibly caused unknown damage (no "grief" involved at all) and you expressed complete gratitude for the gesture. Jason informed you that we had contacted the proper person at the bank to execute the cancellation of the bank contract. Yes, maybe he didn't explain in full detail of the process of exactly has to happen however, the cancellation had been executed. You had called a day or two later saying the contract hadn't been cancelled because you went to try and purchase another car and the dealer told you it hadn't been done. I would think any reasonable person who has ever dealt with bank policies and procedures would understand that a contract is not going to be cleared from your credit bureau in 24-48 hrs. We are not sure what we could have done differently in this situation.

Sales consultant Karen Wheeler was PERFECT for helping us… navigate the purchasing and financing process and our options, without pressuring us with any up-sales and helping us keep within our allotted budget. I was very impressed with both Ms Wheeler specifically, and Byerly Ford in Shively overall. I know in a few years when my old F250 with 300k miles is finally ready for retirement, I'll be going back to Karen to help get me into a newer truck. Well done!service of 2018 ford edge

This dealership had a price listed on the vehicle that was unbelievable compared to other dealers, and it meant a 9… hour drive to get the vehicle but it would worth it to save the money. After multiple emails and the sales person knowing how far we lived away, my husband called to talk logistics; then, he is told... well.... the internet prices are actually for ford employees. Ridiculous. Were they expecting us to come that far and then spring an extra $10,000 on us. BEWARE. As long as you are not expecting to get the internet prices, you may be ok.Amazing

Karen was very helpful and nice to work with, The only down side was the finance guy trying to upsell warranties and spray on coatings on… the car even after I told him I wasn't interested at the very beginning.
