Questionable Business Practices

I tried to buy a truck from this dealer but they sold it out from under me. I had been working with Joe at Plaza Ford for about two weeks on an F-450 that was ordered for a customer and the buyer was having issues with financing. Finally I… got the word that the truck was available and I could purchase it. I told Joe that my preference was to use my financing, then his financing or I would pay cash. Joe sent me an official quote, a credit app and asked for a picture of the front and back of my drivers license. I applied at my bank, completed and returned his credit app, a picture of my drivers license and secured insurance. I even offered to put a deposit down on the truck. The next day Joe went dark, would not answer text or phone calls. I called the dealer who transferred the call to Joe who then informed me that they sold the truck to another customer. He could at least had the intestinal fortitude to let me know the truck was not available instead of hiding. I contacted the General Sales Manager (Hugh), who listened to my story but had little to offer than sorry. As a business owner myself I do not appreciate Hugh and team waisting my time. As a potential customer I believe I did everything possible to negotiate in good faith and do not believe this situation should have occurred.
I did receive call backs from Hugh and Darren apologizing for the situation. From what I gathered from the conversations, several salesman had buyers for this truck. It is close to the end of the month and being in sales myself, I understand they wanted this sale in Nov and not let it slip into Dec. I believe Joe is not the top salesman at Plaza Ford as another salesman sold to management that his buyer was ready to wire the money and didn't mention I was willing to pay cash. I assume that getting the sale in this month was more profitable to Plaza Ford than also having the revenue from financing.
If Mr Walls (President/owner at Plaza Ford Inc) is listening, Hugh might be a nice guy, but if he is not managing his sales people and have well defined processes in place he is not helping your business. From my point of view, I see neither of these two things.

Passenger Side Chrome Running Board

by 302BigOnes on 11/12/2015Plaza Ford is awesome. The paper work I get back lets me know everything that was performed and what might need attention in the future. I had a blower motor for my heat and a/c fail and it was taken care of very professionally. Just one… area of improvement, You should offer a loaner car if any Plaza Ford customer is having service done in your facility and they need to leave it over night. I did get a loaner but was given the feeling that a loaner is not freely given to which I asked, how am I getting home and just as important, how am I getting back to pick up my car and more important, how am I getting to work (by 6:00am). There is a dealership very close to you that offers a loaner with every car that has service done at their facility and you keep that loaner free of charge until your car is ready whether it is later that day or over night. It's a good selling point, just saying. But still, Plaza Ford is doing a fantastic job.It was truly a pleasure to do business with you, 302BigOnes! I told him a Toyota 4Runner but couldn't afford it. He showed me the Edge. After driving it, the Edge was… a home run. It has all the features I wanted PLUS it's AWD. The Bronzefire color has caught the eye of all my neighbors. I was out on the road driving my new Edge in about an hour. My wife was 41 weeks pregnant when we went in for a test drive of a vehicle we ended up falling in love with. She actually began to have contractions after leaving… the dealership. Our sales associate, Mario, contacted us to see how my wife was doing. I could not believe the genuine care that he exhibited, so when we were released from the hospital later that day because the contractions my wife was having was not labor contractions, we went straight to Plaza Ford and purchased the vehicle. Not only did we receive great guest service from Mario and our finance specialist but the whole staff of Plaza was extremely kind and extended an offer of helping my wife with anything that she would need to make her more comfortable. We have purchases several vehicles from Plaza Ford in the past and always dreaded taking them in for service. In the past,staff was not very helpful, bordering on rude. Once I… had to crawl over a snow pile and try to get my car out of a very tight spot when picking it up after service, and no one offered to help, or offered to bring the car around for me, they just watched me struggle from the service bay! That was there standard M.O., but not this time, thankfully. I found my service experience very good. My service rep, Don , was extremely helpful and expedited a rental car for me over a holiday weekend. Service was completed earlier than scheduled, for the exact quoted price. I applaud the change in service management! Finally ,I can recommend Plaza Ford Service Dept without hesitation!Quick lane is just that quick!
