  • Watch for the Bait and Switch

    Responded to an internet ad for a used 2016 Sonata. Heard from Brandie their internet sales rep. She confirmed the price, that there were no hidden charges and that it was a certified car. Since I had a tow hour drive to the dealership we confirmed a time and she assured me the car would be put on hold for me so I didn't drive all the way there for nothing. She told me she would be off but that I would be =meeting with Eric. So far so good. When I got there Eric was off,no one knew I as coming and the car wasn't on hold. Fortunately the car was still there and I dealt with James. He confirmed the price and we took it out for a spin. I liked the car and we sat down to negotiate a deal. Turns out you have to give them a credit card before the salesman can present an offer to the sales manager. I agreed and then the manager came over to tell me the price was actually $803 higher since iit was a certified car. He couldn't tell me why James and Brandie quoted me a lower price. Instead he tried to convince me it was still a great deal. At that point I decided not to give my business to a dealer who would try to pull a Bait and Switch like this. So, I wasted for hours driving but learned a lesson. Not to buy a car from this dealer.

    As advertised on their website: WE WILL, Stock A Great Selection (No more than any other competitor, and the dealership lot is located in a really hard-to-get-to spot deep in the bowels of Fall River. Not worth the effort and aggravation) WE WILL, Find The Right Vehicle For You (There was no effort, AT ALL, in this department. It’s all on the customer) WE WILL, Offer High Trade-In Allowances (They low-balled and resisted every inch of the way to negotiate a less-than-reasonable “GUARANTEED” verbal agreement made by the Assistant Manager, Paul. Within the first three minutes of arriving, they reneged on that agreement and stood firm on an allowance $1,000 less. They knew I had driven almost 400 miles to get to their dealership) WE WILL, Deal With Integrity And Respect (I shopped online and ended up speaking with their internet branch reps Nicole, Brandy (awesome professional), and their manager Casey who were great. They sent me an e-mail with an official quote listing the rebates, which each rep assured me I qualified for, and the price of the car minus doc fees and sales tax. I scheduled a date/time to drive almost 400 miles to purchase the car. I received a call the next day (day before I was to drive down) saying they advertised the wrong dealership rebate and my car would now cost $1,000 more. After speaking with the Assistant Manager Paul, who quoted me a new negotiated price and promised me $10,000 for my trade, I drove down to complete the deal. When I arrived I was met on outside by yet another salesman (their sacrificial lamb) who sternly brought me in, gave me instructions to complete some paperwork which I’d already completed and never explained where Paul was and what happened to the two days of prep work I’d had to do before arriving. Within just a few minutes, the salesman presented a document with completely different numbers than agreed upon. Once I spoke with Paul, their outright bullying tactics and belligerence began. After I had asked for my keys several times so that I could leave them and their now totally dissolved “deal”, the General Manager, Joe, came over and started literally bellowing at me. The last thing Joe said as he walked away was “Go ahead and put a bad review on our website. I’ll just take it down when you do.”) So Joe, when you read this, just remember this isn’t the only website I will post to, nor the only place I will lodge a complaint—and a reminder, I am retired. WE WILL, Do Our Best To Earn Your Trust (I can’t even begin to tell you how far from the truth this is except to use another reviewer’s words and say “RUN!”) WE WON'T, Pressure You (Only when your mouth is moving, and it’s not pleasant)

    Recently bought a 2016 Elantra from this dealership. Being from Rhode Island we visited a few dealerships here but couldnt get terms and deal we wanted. So we figured we would take a ride to Empire in Fall River So glad we did. Our salesman Rob Collins & Finance Mgr Duarte Arudda are 2 of the finest individuals you will ever meet Empire is lucky to have them. We also have used the service dept. which is fantastic otherwise i wouldn't drive all the way from Coventry, RI. i highly recommend you check it out for yourself.     Tony Santos was the sales person that assisted me. He was very helpful, knowledgeable, fair and pleasant. I was frustrated with the car buying process having visiting several dealerships. He made it easier even though I was very difficult to deal with. If you are in the market for a new vehicle and are considering a Hyundai, see Tony. You won't be disappointed.

    I purchased my shiny red 2016 Elantra on 9/2/15. My salesperson was DJ. He was excellent in hearing what I was looking for in a car as well as the numbers I was comfortable with for a monthly payment. He found me the car, with the features I wanted, for the price I was comfortable with. No giving me the hard sell which is a big turnoff. I hope I'm not going to be needing another car for many years to come but when I do I'll be going back to Empire.

    This is my second car purchase with Empire Hyundai. I had owned my 2007 Tucson for 8 years and had been treated so well by Jeff White in the Service Department that when it was time for a new car I knew there was no other choice but Empire. I was interested in the Elantra GT. Mike Domingos was my salesman - he's awesome. We looked at what was in stock. Picked a shimmering silver with the 17" alloy wheel package and went for a test drive. Mike let me ask all the questions and never put on the "hard sell". When it came down to it, I got the car I wanted for the price I wanted with a better interest rate than the credit union. When it comes to the Finance Department Duarte Arruda is the man.

    I feel very fortunate that I was referred to the Salesperson Forest Thomas at Empire Hyundai. Forest is very knowledgeable and patient, as is the General Manager Joe Carvalho. And not to be forgotten is Jeff White, the Service Advisor, who has been very helpful navigating my busy schedule for the routine maintenance appointments. Rick Torres you have an excellent staff and I will continue to refer all to your friendly, professional dealership!!!!

    My experience with Sales Consultant Mike Domingos was Great! Mike was very knowledgeable and informative, plus he made the whole experience easy and comfortable! Everyone I had contact with made it a comfortable and inviting environment! And Finance Manager Duarte Arruda is Awesome!

    My husband and I went to Empire Hyundai today to trade-in my 2012 Tucson. We left with a brand new 2015 Tucson. Our sales person was Tony Reis. We had talked numbers and knew what we were able to make work for us. We finalized our sale with Duarte Arruda. They were able to make everything work within our budget. We were there for a total of 3 hours. This was our third purchase of a vehicle from Empire. This was by far the shortest and best experience out of them all. I would highly recommend Empire to anyone that was looking to purchase a vehicle. We will never go to any other dealership to purchase a vehicle. Thank You again to Tony, Duarte and everyone who assisted with this sale. We are extremely satisfied with the purchase and customer service we received today.

    My wife and I were treated so nicely at Empire Hyundai last week as we were looking at new vehicles. Our credit is not the best because of various situations we have been trough over the past few years. That being said we are both hard working good people with good jobs. The staff at Empire, especially salesman Tony Reis treated us with the utmost respect knowing of our situation. We left that day with a brand new Hyundai Tucson that we absolutely love. We got a very good deal on the car and can say our overall experience there was outstanding. I would recommend this dealership to anybody.

    I just want to thank everyone that helped me at Empire Hyundai in Fall River Ma. I love my new used car. I just wished that they could have done more for me regarding my noisy hub caps. I brought it to there attention and they told me to take them off or buy new rims. I have only had the car for three weeks and the noise is driving me crazy.

    I bought a used suv I was told that there service dept was the best and when I drive away with my SUV I will have no worries, because they go right through it bumper to bumper.well it broke down warning lights keep coming on big thump when I stop and when I take foot of brake,I heard rattling they told me something broke off in barrel. Had this since Dec, its been parked for four weeks now because exhaust leek coming from manifold thanks for not helping and the crappy truck thousands of dollars down the drain

    I called in to schedule an oil change. The woman Amanda from the service department on the phone told me that the oil change would be free. I was thrilled . When I arrived that had all changed . Amanda said the full 38.95 charge was mandatory. I agree to have the service done . Forty five mins later she told me it was all done anx had the car brought in so I didnt have to walk out in the rain but it was the wrong car. I told her this and she smurked and said sorry then I proceeded to pay and find my car in the rain .

    I had a great experience with Empire Hyundai! This is the first car I have purchased and everyone at Empire Hyundai was absolutely fantastic. My sales consultant, Ron Webb, went above and beyond to help me. My experience was extremely smooth and easy, and I got a fantastic deal on my car. If you are looking to buy a car (new, used, and/or certified), I highly recommend Empire Hyundia, and especially Rob Webb, because they will take care of you completely from start to finish!

    James Washington and the entire Empire Hyundai team made purchasing my new car a wonderful experience. They found me a great rate and got me into a new vehicle when I wasn't satisfied with my original purchase. They are definitely breaking all the stereotypes attached to car sales people.
