Suprisingly rude service
by sheesh721 on 05/25/2009I went to this dealership because I found a used vehicle online that I wanted to check out and haggle the price. Their used vehicles all seemed to be fairly priced, however, the one I was looking at was almost $4k overpriced. They were… asking $13500 for a car that most dealerships in the area were asking $9k for. And their model was the complete base model at that and had torn up carpet everywhere. I assumed it was a misprint and figured I could haggle a little. The used car salesmen assisted me. He gave me the keys and offered for me to start it up. He asked what I thought of the car and I told him it was overpriced, but we could work out the details later. He agreed and then asked if I wanted to take it for a test drive, which I did. I drove the car for about 3-5 minutes with him and then we went back to sit down and talk numbers. As we sat down he asked what I thought. I told him it drove OK, but again said it was overpriced. O didn't even throw out a number before he got on his high horse. He got furious with me, tells me the price is the price and it costs them money to list a vehicle online and there was no mistake. I told him that car doesn't sell for more than $10k anywhere else in the state and there must be a mistake. Without checking the value of the vehicle he berates me and tells me there was no mistake and that if he knew that's how I was going to be he would not have allowed me to take the car for a test drive. He goes on to say that's now the way he does business and carries on for about two more minutes of ranting about how I don't know what I'm talking about. I told him I'm sorry if he felt I was wasting his time and got up to leave. He asked me to wait, and for some reason I did. He goes to speak to his manager and and comes back to tell me "$10.5k." I told him he'd still need to come down a little more to make the sale on that vehicle, but I wouldn't buy from him if even if he offered me a good deal after the way he treated me.honda CAR ACCORD

TOTALLY WASTE OF TIME AND VERY FRUSTRATING
by aborshch on 08/25/2008Past saturday I went to take a look at '09 Honda Pilot. At first the salesman was very professional and knowledgable. He assured me that they have a big selection of Pilots in stock and the color and equipment should not be an issue. As… long as we agree on the price we should be fine. As usually he went back and forth 20 times and finally we agreed on the price and were ready to write up the deal. Guess what, it turns out they do not have the vehicle. More over, they can get the vehicle BUT it is going to cost more. I was really disappointed and I called the dealership manager. Guess what nobidy returned my call. This dealership is full of sales reps who have no clue what they are doing there except socializing with each other. Do not waste your time !Beware. They do not keep their word
by adam74 on 08/20/2008Went on a saturday to check out CR-V. We were assisted by a sales person (George I think). He was courteous and polite. I told him that I have a lower quote from another dealer ($1000 less) and is open road ready to match it. He said… yes. I didn't make the deal that day since I wanted to check out Rav-4 too before making a decision. We called George on the following Thusrday, he was not there. We went in anyways and was served by a sales person named Imran. When I told him about my discussion with george, he said they cannot match it. and some guy (imran's superior) started saying that george could not have agreed to match. They all just wasted my time. But it was nice for george to call and apologise for the whole thing. We finally bought our vehicle from [violative content deleted]. THEY KEPT THEIR WORD UNLIKE OPEN ROAD HONDAYou gave them 5 stars?
Disappointing way of doing business...
by harmoni on 05/17/2008We were at this location in search of a good car to buy....but were highly, and we mean very highly disappointed with the discourteous way of the sales associate who dealt with us....He came across as a person who did his best to turn away… the potential customers....the arrogancy and unprofessionalism of the associate will definitely cost a great deal to this place... Right that morning he had confirmed the availability of the car and the price and by afternoon, everything had changed and the way of conveying it to us was very rude and came as a shocking surprise to us...Being a sales person, he did not have any information brochure for a different model that he suggested, and did not express any intention of finding one for us.....Afteer reading all these negative reviews on Open Road Sales people I wonder what the average term of employment is at this dealership?

by tcpip on 01/22/2008STAFF: LISA GRACIA and DAVID CHAVEZ DATE: Jan 21 2008 Beware of this dealer as they lie and lie and lie till no end and they won't feel ashamed about it!! I was out to buy a Black or Gray Honda CIVIC EX-L and talked to LISA GARCIA… over the phone. She said she can arrange the black car and had gray in stock. I told her I want the black one. She said she can give me the VIN once I put the deposit and car by wednesday. Sceptical about their reputation, I told her that I need a clause in the agreement that I reserve the right to take back the deposit if the car is not delivered on the given date. She agreed. All this was done over the phone. I told her I am coming to make a deposit. On reaching there, she said that she didn't have the VIN but can get it by wednesday. I said thats fine but I need the clause. She cam back saying that this clause cannot be entered. I was annoyed and asked her why did she agree over the phone and wasted my time. Her response was that I was putting lot of pressure on her and that she is doing me a "FAVOUR" by arranging the car!! I told her that I am paying them the asking price so there is no question of favour...its simple business. I asked her to show me the gray car and she cam back saying the car is in transit!!! (WHAT THE HECK). Her manager DAVID CHAVEZ said that if we want to buy the car its fine otherwise it does not matter. As a customer, I felt OPEN ROAD HONDA EDISON did not appreciate my business. The worst thing is that they wasted my time and money. I contacted VIP Honda ([violative content deleted]) and went to see them the same day. It was a pleasant experience and the guys from salesman to sales manager to finance manager were all professional. They answered all my queries and gave me enough time to make a decision. The best thing is that they BEAT the deal I had from OPEN ROAD HONDA. I have bought my car from them now. Though I had to spend 100 USD to visit VIP Honda, I still ended up saying 400 USD on the deal!! BEWARE OF OPEN ROAD HONDA EDISON...they are shameless [violative content deleted] and will spoil you car buying experience.OPEN ROAD HONDA
by bill316 on 11/01/2007WARRNING Be careful and check it out before you bay it. I bought a NEW 2007 Honda Riddeline from Alen Burger. The next Morning I noticed that the Rear Door was a differant Color. I called OPEN ROAD HONDA and explained the Problem. I was… directed to bring the Ridgeline in for them to inspect. This is a damaged Vehicle that has had Repair work done to it. All they want to do is paint it. What about the Body Damage. Watch your Paperwork for prices!good sales, not so good aftersales
by airnj1910 on 10/02/2007I bought a car from them a month ago.The sales guy was great. The finance manager was able to convince us to get an extended warranty,They said someone's going to call me when my plate becomes available, which the sales guy said about 10… days.I called them repeatedly and after a month the girl there said it's been there, and that they have called.I told her I have an answering machine and that my celphone is always within reach and I never got a call from them. She could not tell me, specifically when they called cause they never did. Then just recently I got the extended service agreement that's printed on a Nissan booklet, and it says there my dealer is Openroad Morristown NJ, I called the guys from Morristown they said I should call OR Edison, cause there's obviously a mix-up.I called Open road Honda, the operator didn't know where to connect me, after three departments I was connected to Finance. The finance guy said, it's normal practice for them to route extended warranties to dealers within their group with lower rate for the same extended warranty. I asked even if I bought a Honda and not a Nissan? My simple mind cannot fathom their "usual practice", as he said this is normal practice to dealers.I pointed out that this wasn't explained to us at the time of purchase. He reassured I can still call the Nissan number for a Honda question...??????...Not so happy about the aftersales.Above Average for a Honda Dealership
by jersey55 on 07/21/2007I purchased 4 cars from Open Road during the past 20 years and never had a bad experience. Of course the Finance Manager will try to sell you an extended warrentey but he is only doing his job. Don't expect to get much value for a… trade-in though, your better off selling on your own. It's a high volume dealership that I avoid on the weekends when things get a bit rushed. Do your homework, give them a fair price and you should be OK.A great experience at Open Road Honda
by Ramkey01 on 03/02/2013updated 04/12/2025I had a great and wonderful experience at Open Road Honda Edison - when I leased Honda Accord LX 2013. On the outset when I contacted them, they promptly returned My call and allotted a flexible time slot to me. The premises has a great… ambiance and very neat and clean. When I reached there, Mr.Muhammad J. - Sales Associate received me and inquired what I want and Listened to me very patiently and answered all my questions with all details. Mr. Muhammad J. has exceptional knowledge of all technical and finance details. He is very helpful and friendly and finally gave me the very best offer in clinching the Deal to lease the Accord LX and also explained the pros & cons of leasing vs. buying. It was really an amazing experience whether buying or leasing at Open Road Honda Edison, especially the courtesy extended to me by Mr.Muhammad J. Mr. Tony - finance officer and all other Managers and staff are very cooperative. I recommend any one to choose Open Road Honda for the best & competitive purchase/lease of an automobile. by srotem on 06/28/2012updated 04/12/2025I had been looking for a new car for the past 6 weeks, needless to say I spent many miserable hours at different dealerships all over the city, that is until I stumbled into Open Road Honda. They had the exact car I wanted and made me an… unbeatable deal. I could not be more pleased; thank you!!!!!FALSE ADVERTISEMENT, DECEPTIVE SALES TACTICS
by NisargS on 05/27/2014updated 04/12/2025First of all let me start by saying, these people do not respect customers. They let them roam around freely around the lot without any acknowledgement or a simple "can I help you?". 2nd of all, they do not respect your intellect and simply… think you're stupid and you won't read what the asterisk next to a price means; In other words the "fine line". They had a sign in the showroom which had a 2013 Honda Accord EX advertised for $20,995 which had an asterisk next to it. The asterisk read the flowing on the bottom of the sign: "*Price excludes destination, tax, and fees, plus military/college grad rebate. Above special is non-transferable and can not be combined with any dealer specials, coupons etc. Call dealer for details. Expires 6/2/14." I typed that exactly as it was written underneath the sign. Our sales associate then proceeded to crunch numbers and added 20,995+500 student+500 military+ fees and taxes which brought the price of the vehicle close to 25,500. I then asked him why was he adding the 500+500 rebates in the price if they aren't included as per the asterisk, meaning if the price advertised on the sign is without any rebates or discounts, why is the rebate added on to the advertised price? He then had the audacity to tell me that I was reading the sign wrong and questioned my intelligence. I'M THE CUSTOMER BRO! YOU NEVER TELL A CUSTOMER HE'S WRONG! NEVER! I've been in retail most of my life and worked at various retail chains/stores and despite of customer disputes about pricing I have never told any customer that he's wrong about anything, instead I would accept the mistake and simply apologize or walk away and find out correct information. This particular individual was an egotistic sales person with 5 stars to his rank or he was just simply tired and had a long day. But in any case, how can you add a $1000 rebate to a price which the asterisk clearly states that it excludes all fees, taxes, rebates? His explanation was that, the price is with rebate and since you do not qualify we add the rebates on top of the advertised price. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the purpose of an asterisk or a fine line is to tell people that the base price do not include any rebates or any other restrictions? I mean if anything it should've read that it includes the $500 grad and $500 military discount and since you don't qualify we will mark up the vehicle a $1000 MORE than the advertised price. He then gets a manager or a supervisor whom also tells me that I'm wrong and I read the sign wrong or interpreting it wrong. I also told him the same thing but he seemed to side with the sales guy. We then stopped arguing due to lack of these peoples integrity. We obviously wasted his and our time on a beautiful memorial day and simply walked out just the way the sales guy walked away from us after shaking our hands. I will definitely contact honda corporate and have them clarify this promotion as this individual said that it wasn't in the dealerships hands and the promotion was actually passed down from honda corporate. His exact words were "this is how it works, this is how it gets people in" I meant to ask him if he meant that "since we're deceptive and manipulative about our promotions that's how we trap people into deals."In our many years of excellent customer service we have noticed that customers do not like to be approached while they are browsing the lot. We have sale staff available at any of our entrances when a customer is ready. Quite often we are asked "what is the very best price" for a vehicle. Honda provides certain rebates for college graduates so a college graduate can buy a vehicle for $500 less than someone who does not meet the discount criteria. If a price is going to be the very best price it should by definition be the very best price; that does not mean everyone can get it but it is still the very best price.
Freakiest dealership i ever saw
by nikolas1 on 05/28/2011updated 04/12/2025Hello everybody, look just want to share my today 05/27/2011 experience with Open Road Honda (at least used sales department) absolutely HORRIBLE place to be. First of all my Honda Accord 2008 lease was finished so I called to Honda… financial to find out what to do next they check everything (inspection, payments) and told me to bring the car to the Open Road Honda even this almost one hour drive from my town I was feel fine to know that this will be quick in terms of return procedure. OK I brought the car and the manager dept said NO we will not take you car and that gentlemen I think his name Rick communicate with customers in form of statements NO WE DON'T ACCEPT YOUR CAR, YOU don't have a copy of inspection NO we don take you car My car lot is too small NO WAY, YOU did not buy car from us WE don't take your HONDA I was under impression that guy thinks he on some other dealership other then Honda, not to mentioned how this character even work with people anyway I call again Honda Financial explain everything they called that freaky Manger of Open Road Honda, asked for the fax and sent him the copy of my inspection plus I guess reminded to him that he still sells Honda After that they kind of sobered up and set some sails person to finish return it took after call from Honda Financial about 5 min. Those guys are frisks the costumer service is absolutely horrible they literally started yell at us ( I was with my wife there) ant trying to prove us that Honda Financial and North America is just nothing and they can do basically what they want cause they are independently owned corporation forgetting the contract their owner signed with Honda Anyway the place is bad just watch out. I would NOT recommend it to my friend !!!!after 9th honda never again

by vito4884 on 09/09/2012updated 04/12/2025My wife and I wasted an entire day trying to buy a minivan from this unreasonably managed dealership. We have excellent credit and were willing to do a deal immediately. The salesman was very accommodating but management would not allow him… to come down $1.00 on the asking price and totally insulted us on the trade in offer. I would never go back there and tell anyone I know to never waste a minute at this terrible excuse for a car dealer! At open Road Honda of Edison we always advertise our most competitive pricing online reducing the negotiating process and making the car buying process simple. We value our customers and always go above and beyond to achieve 100% customer satisfaction. We are always willing to addres customer concerns so please feel free to call the dealership and ask for a sales manager and we will immediately try to rectify your issue. The 2013 Honda Accord has landed, come check it out at open Road Honda of Edison.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER... NEVER GOING BACK THERE.
by msoberoi on 07/25/2013updated 04/12/2025ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE.. Here is the story... I went online and requested a quote for honda pilot. I got a call after few hours and provided the quote. The quote seemed attractive, so I asked her to check with her… sales manager again about the quote and then send me in "writing" so that I have proof of it. She checked with her manager and sent me the discussed quote via email. I liked the quote and asked to setup an appointment to see the vehicle. So far so good.. The HORRIBLE experience starts when I get inside the dealership... I go inside and request to see a salesperson.. first question I get asked is.. are you here to "SEE" the car or "BUY" the car? I said "BUY".. thats when I got some attention and salesperson asked me to have a seat. I told him that I already have a quote from online department and would like to buy the car. When I gave the printed quote from their own internet department, he took it and took it with him to show it to his sales manager. Comes back and says "there must be some mistake".... and I asked why? He said the internet lady seems to have made a mistake when providing you with a quote. He kept looking but couldnt find anything so said she probably quoted you for a lower model or a totally different car. I again said that she had confirmed with a manager and provided this quote. How can they both make a mistake. He brings in his sales manager (Absolutely RUDE guy) and he said "SHE MADE A MISTAKE... SO WHAT".. this is not the price. Very horrible and he, instead of apologizing to me about the mistake, he started to rude as if it was my mistake that I came in to buy a car from them. Talked rude and just went away. Sent someone else to say "they cant do anything" STAY AWAY!!!!!!!! I read about their horrible reviews before but still took a chance to go there since their quote was attractive. However, I think they are doing this purposely to get the customers inside their showroom and then try to sell their cars at a much higher price. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER... NEVER GOING BACK THERE.Bad Customer Service
by timlounewcar on 03/06/2014updated 04/12/2025Went there, told the guy I needed oil change. They took the key and the car. I went in, sit down, and waited. Two hours passed, I asked what happened, is the car going to be ready anytime soon? they said they NEEDED my confirmation to do… an oil change, and nothing has been done and the car is just sitting there parked. What the ****? I waited two hours there, and there were at least 7 employees walking around and they couldn't ask: oh why is there a piece of paper with a set of keys sitting there for TWO fricking hours? Why did they just take my keys and car after I told the guy I need an oil change without even confirming what needs to be done to the car? If it wasn't for the free oil change service that comes with the car I bought there, I would never service my vehicle there. The service department is horrible and assumes that customers know their work flow. Look elsewhere when you want someone to really care about servicing your car. Not to mention the ridiculous prices for simple things like changing filters and "cleaning" (both over $70)--- then again it's a dealer so I did not deduct points from there. But keep this in mind, when you pay for their services, you are not paying for speedy and reliable customer service.ANOTHER great experience!
by jessmanning on 06/27/2012updated 04/12/2025My mother and my sister bought cars from Open Road Honda last summer and had a wonderful experience. When it was time for me to get a new vehicle, I knew I'd go to Honda. The general manager, Rich Jakubowski, made sure the whole process was… smooth for us. He was so helpful and knowledgable. We got a great deal and weren't even at the dealership too long. Thank you, Open Road and Rich!Waste of Time

by rambo14 on 08/04/2013updated 04/12/2025I recently made a purchase from open road honda in Edison, NJ. When I walked out with the car, I realized that I ended up paying at least $4000 more than what the actual price was. I consider it my problem that I did not pay attention to it… but I would like people to be aware of Open Road Honda's tactics and be prepared on how to handle it. 1. They will try to build pressure that they will take losses if you are willing to make a commitment that day only. Pls be aware that there is no such thing. Always take your time to make a decision. Dont fall into the trap of same day deal. 2. I went with a monthly payment figure keeping in mind that I would get financing for 36 months. During the heat of negotiations, they made me change 36 months to 48 months while my monthly payment came down only by $50-$70. I was not doing calculations and this hit me really hard. Pls remember - if the financing term increases from 36 mos to 48 , your monthly payment should decrease proportionately/drastically. 3. When you say that you are looking for financing, they base their negotiations on your capacity to pay the monthly payment & not the price. Since they made me agree to 48 months (instead 36) of financing at xyz per month, I ended up paying a lot more than I should have. Lesson learnt - always have a pen & paper ready. Calculate the final number before negotiating further. 4. They always have a MSRP on the vehicle which is way too higher than what they can sell the vehicle to. Be cognizant of the fact. they can easily sell 2k-3k less than the MSRP. 5. They say they don't have any financing offer on new vehicles. it's a lie. They do have. they just want to have some wiggle room. Net - net, I wouldn't recommend a dealership where you could end up paying a few thousands more than the actual price if you are not a good negotiator. Beware people. They will definitely cheat you if you are not a good negotiator or you let your guard down during the entire process. I am not going to go back to them ever.
I first visited this dealership maybe a little over two weeks ago. The salesman (Bill) just called me back to ask if I was still interested in the vehicle. I told him "No thank you" politely (he was calling while I was at work). He didn't say another word, but literally slammed the phone down so hard it came through my cell phone as a loud thud. Very nice. Not that I was intending to go back to that dealership to look at cars again, but after that it would be uncomfortable even walking on to the lot.
