  • A suprising experience.. in a good way!

    5 out of 5 starsby mjgiants90 on 11/13/2009

I was recently wrecked my 1997 Honda Civic and needless to say did not receive much from my insurance company. With what little money I had, I went out looking for something decent I could get into that I could afford. My credit wasn't theโ€ฆ best, and I found several other area dealers to be rude and abrupt once they saw my credit report. It's almost as if they didn't want to sell me a car! I traveled a half hour from home to Metro Honda, desperate to find someone who would work with me, and I was not disappointed. I explained my situation to my salesperson, Jason Hoefel, and then spent some time reviewing my credit report. We found a 2005 Honda Civic that I fell in love with, and then waited as Jason went to his managers (assuming he would come back and say he could not help). Instead, I was shocked when his manager Lisandro came over to sit with me, again going over my credit report trying to see what the best approach would be to get me into a vehicle. After speaking with Lisandro (who was wonderful), he and Jason went to sit with the finance manager who spent time working with several banks to see who would approve me for a loan and they got the job done! They detailed the car while I met with the finance manager Marcus. Instead of getting "strong-armed" into buying more at insane prices, I found Marcus to be very courteous and professional, and even gave me a great deal on a service plan through Honda! I regret all the time I spent going from dealership to dealership, I shhould have gone there first and would suggest the same to anyone looking to have a pleasant car buying experience. Ask for Jason H.!!!

We bought a vehicle (Honda Odessey 2009) with Metro Honda Jersey City, New Jersey and the sales person we have dealed with is Ellis Tavarez about a month ago (February 2009) the deal was 4yrs lease, after a week or two we recieved a callโ€ฆ form Ellis Tavarez (Metro Honda Sales Person) concerning some issue they asked us to come back to their office and when we came there they want to hold the car due to some visa issues so we came to decide that we just want to return the car and get our money back if that will be the inconvinience. but they tried to work out our issues and the finance manager named Danny let us keep and drive back home the car. then after a couple of weeks they let us come back to their office again and when we came there they informed us that the lease will be reduced for 2yrs. if we are willing to accept it. and we agreed on it. then just last Tues (March 24, 2009) We are on the process of getting the plate number but they're unable to release it. due to a lot of concerns so they hold the car again yesterday (March 25, 2009). inexchange to that they will provide a service car but for us to have the "service car" we need to comeback again to their office which is today thurs (March 26, 2009) and when we came there they refuse to give a service car the dealer Ellis Tavares and his Manager was not there because it was their "off day" we have spoke to the sales manager unfortunately we didnt catch his name he was so rude to the point that he just turned his back on me while i was talking to him and he just walked away totally ignored me and I felt dis-respected, humiliated, and discriminated. We cooperated with them in a very well manner and this is what we get after we went back and fort to their office. This is not a very good business practice. we just wish to get our money back we dont want to deal with them anymore.

Make sure you know what your vehile requires for each service before you go here. They tried to take advantage of a pregnant woman.. they tried to tell me that i was supposed to do all this work that was not required on my car. I went inโ€ฆ for a 15K oil change. and they said i had to do a $250 service on the car. at first i said ok, then I called the dealer i bought the car from. the other dealer said all i require is an oil change. within 3 minutes of giving the service guys my keys, i told them all i want is an oil change. the guy told me they already removed the tires and drained all the fluids, WITHIN 3 MINUTES?!?! i told him i want to see my car immediately, he paged the mechanic and told him that the customer (me) was not budging and was being adamant about it (all this in a sarcastic not so nice tone). Ripped off and insulted at the same time! (plus they refused to show me my car) Anyways. he said tires were off nothing he can do so i got stuck with a tire rotation too. had to pay $80 ...when all i needed was a 24.95 oil change...they also got mud on my drivers side car mat..[violative content deleted]
  • Awful Service Department

3 out of 5 starsby munteni on 12/23/2008

This dealership has a very poor service department and high costs. I've bought the car here and had problems in the first year. They took them 3 weeks to fix the car, they left a tool inside the car and messed up the interior with greaseโ€ฆ and only after I started proceedings with the lemon law they started to get their act together. 2 years later my spare key was not working (I never tested it before) and they wanted to charge me $95 to program it, a 30 second job. I escalated to the General Manager and got the key programmed free of charge.

I went on a Saturday to look at the Honda Fit with the dealer's promise that I could drive away with it regardless of my credit and with my promise of at least $1,000 down. Monday morning I go to my bank and stretch as far as I could andโ€ฆ get a bank check for an ample down payment with hopes that it would also be enough for a month or so of car payments. Nope. I got there at 10:45 AM and did not leave till 1:45 PM. Their story changed quickly. They went form "how can we convince you to take the car tonight?" on Saturday to "you can't take the car because you have no credit" which I did mention to the dealer on Saturday when I went to test drive the Honda Fit. They took hours with my credit report, my mom's credit report and then they asked me how much more money I could put down (not including the first month's payment). Mind you I alsopreseented a car for them as a trade in, whose estimated value they would not reveal to me and refused to look at the blue book value I researched for it. Also I showed them a lease quote that I got off the Honda website and they told me it was" not valid and needed to be updated." Then they tell me that I can't afford the Honda Fit to go look at a Civic, which I did to humor them and liked but had an issue with the configuration of the dashboard - the bump where the odometer is. They pushed to get me to finance which I know is more expensive than leasing and you are stuck with the car till it is paid off. I stuck to my guns ... I did... I even fought tears! At this point I am feeling like I am being jerked and not just from thinking that they are giving me the runaround because I am a single woman trying to buy a new car. What kind of confirmed that for me is when I asked if I could look at something "certified pre-owned" and the dealership's manager said to me "there is no point in you looking at certified cars when you canot afford new." I got p-oed and told him "look, just give me a break down in writing so I can take it back and talk it over with my mom (who was going to help me with monthly payments) and think about it." With a real arrogant tone he wrote down the numbers and in a demeaning way said to the dealer "go make a copy of that for her to take to her Mooom." Later on I got a call from the dealer and I tried to be nice. He asked if I was coming back and I told him not any time soon. I complemented his sales skills (it was way too obvious that he was new at car sales) and mentioned to him that his manager was not able to cut a deal that was satisfactoiy for my budget and that I will likely revisit the dealer in a few months, and thanked him for his time. It sucked having to leave that car behind the first time but even moreso, to return with the promise of driving off with a new car and leaving without one once again.
  • Busy, but fair dealership

4.8 out of 5 starsby dukexv on 09/14/2008

The last of three dealers visited and the best. They had the car I wanted at a fair price and honored their internet quote. Did I get the absolute best possible deal - probably not, but I got a fair deal. After all, I only buy a carโ€ฆ once every 5-6 years, they sell dozens every day. The salesman, Ky**g, was polite, knowledgeable and willing to make a deal, as was his manager. The place was busy and the process took longer than I wanted, but you have to expect that on Saturday at 3PM. Overall, I pleased with the deal.
  • To pushy!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 out of 5 starsby nwknewjrsy on 09/10/2008

This dealer is much to pushy!!! I made a visit to check a price on a certain car on the lot. The car was to high for my price range. After trying to thank the sales team for their time and leaving, I went threw about 3 diffrent salesโ€ฆ managers, trying to talk me info looking at completly diffrent cars then i came for. I ended up leaving there very annoyed.. No dealer should try to push anyone into buying something they are not interested.Or try to push people over their expected budget even if the montly payments are promised to be afforable!!
  • pretty quick service

5 out of 5 starsby vullnet on 08/24/2008

this dealership offers fast service, i called in the nightbefore for service on my 08 civic and got an appointment for 8am the next morning, when i got ther they let me in with the 730 appointments, i had a noise coming from the axle when iโ€ฆ would shift it into reverse so they took it in, diagnosed it as a check valve and a stuck caliper, they replaced the check valva and punched out the caliper within like an hour, also had some free dunkin donuts , overall not bad
  • i had a pretty good experiance

4.8 out of 5 starsby vullnet on 08/24/2008

this dealership is pretty good, way way better then [violative content deleted], better prices and way better financing. also the salespeople were pretty straight forward. got my car straight off of the truck, an 08 civic, commnt on theโ€ฆ review from the nonbuying in the market for a pristine 94 civic for 300 or so dollars> i always enjoy a review of someone looking for a car without anywill to buy and also looking for a mint 15yr beater for the cost of eggs, try this dealership i went to [violative content deleted] and had an awefull experiance, also went to [violative content deleted] but this dealership offered me a newer model year for $400 less
  • "Thanks for wasting my time"

1 out of 5 starsby necessaryevil on 04/06/2008

The ad for this 1994 Civic Hatchback read: "...Vehicle in superior condition...interior clean...black exterior is like outstanding condition. We service all our vehicles." My son should have known better as there was no photo in theโ€ฆ above ad. But he loves my Lexus IS300 "Sportwagon" and thought this might be a poor boy's version. When he talked to the dealership on the phone he talked to two different salespeople who both said they'd had a lot of interest so he'd better come on down 'cause this one wouldn't last long. I didn't dissuade him figuring the experience would be good for him. When we got there, no one knew where the car was. The saleskid that took us "out back" (the thrid person we dealt with) didn't know a hatchback from a wagon. Finally we found this beat-up, rusty, black-primed piece of junk missing its windshield trim and having a trashed interior. This was the "vehicle in superior condition" they were asking $3,000 for! The saleskid suggested that perhaps my son would like to take a look at some of the other used cars. Sensibly, my son responded. "That's okay. Thanks for wasting my time." There's no excuse for a dealership claiming to have received "the President's Award for Customer Service" to pull this kind of cheap trick. If they are willing to do this for a $3,000 sale what are they willing to do for a $30,000 sale. Forwarned is forearmed. My thanks to Edmunds for provideing a forum where we could share our experience.
    • stop being so cheap and dont complaint i got my car from there nice car i cant believe all this people write crap and they all people that wants thousand in discounts sales persons have to eat two so stop being so cheap and buy cars at the price that has to be

  • Most horrible dealer i have ever heard or seen

    2.2 out of 5 starsby d_tanguturi on 08/10/2007

Hi guys. This honda dealer really sucks...They put one price in internet and once we go there, they say it is just sold....even if u call an hour before u go over there, u get the same answer. And unfortunately (Like me) if we buy a car,โ€ฆ the after sales service is really horrible. I met the guy called - Lisandro Santiago. They dont respond to your queries and they dont respond to your call..nothing...They dont even give you the new licence plates even you call them daily..i dont know what fun do they get it by doing sooo... If you are really thinking of buying a honda, i request you never and ever even go to these guys.... Definitly u will be disappointed...
  • Not the pushy, slimy sales you would expect from a car dealership!

4.8 out of 5 starsby itsallmuscle on 08/01/2007

My salesman was Lasandro. I came in and I was immediately greeted, and treated like I was going to buy their whole inventory, even though all I came to buy was a basic model Honda Civic (which I love). He treated me very well, and told meโ€ฆ everything I ever wanted to know about the car. He showed me every color on the lot and was really very nice, not pushy, not with any agenda, just really tried to help me understand what I was buying. We worked out a GREAT price (compared to the TMV price) and I then spoke with Ellis the financing guy. This person especially changed my views of car guys! He didn't load any hidden fees on the financing, or try to weasel me out of a few hundred bucks, he very clearly explained everything and made sure I was comfortable with the whole process. By the time everything was signed, my car was up front waiting for me, even my WIFE was happy with the whole experience! These guys really took that extra step to make sure I was happy. I'm sure they could have made a little more if they wanted to, especially since Ellis ended up saving me about $300 through a better financing rate, but they sacrificed a little profit to make sure I was happy; something I NEVER expected from a car dealership. If only these guys ran every dealership, people would be happy with their buying experience.

Was in the market for a 2013 leftover Accord and I live 90 minutes away from the dealership. First dealt with Diana in internet sales who was very helpful in answering all my questions and quick responses. Negotiated price via email andโ€ฆ when I arrived onsite my sales consultant, Chace B was absolute AWESOME. Price, which was a GREAT deal, was honored without fail and Chase really did an outstanding job of vehicle orientation..Very knowledgeable, extremely personable and very honest. Finance Manager very thorough with no high pressure..Well worth the 90 minute drive!

I originally was not interested in Honda but I do trust the reliability of Honda from having 2 accords previously. I started my search at 3 other dealers in the area and really just had bad experiences ranging from pushy sales guys to salesโ€ฆ guys just not being interested in taking the time to see what I really wanted. I came in to Metro Honda to just look around and was greeted by Govaia after about 5 minutes of looking around. He was very knowledgeable and was not pushy at all. I told him what I was looking for and what price range I wanted to be in. He was very accommodating and after an hour or so of negotiations & a test drive of a 2013 Honda Accord I was sold and satisfied. The free oil changes didn't hurt either. I highly recommend this dealership and Govaia if you are in the market.

  • Customer Loyalty & Advertising Fee??? Bad Attitude

My husband and I visited metro Honda yesterday after finding a descent selection of 2010 Honda Civics around $14,000. After waiting about 10 minutes in the front we were greeted by one of their sales personnel who informed us that none ofโ€ฆ their inventory would fall within that price. He took as through the lot and all the vehicles we viewed online were between $16,000-$18,000. On top of that he infomred us there would be additional fees. Around $799 for Customer Loytaly Fees, $699 for Vehicle Prep Fees (not document fees, thats separate) $200 for Advertising fees and Then Taxes, Document and registrate/title Fees. This dealership is absurd and I made a formal complaint to Honda, who unfortunately said all they can do is send a written complaint to the dealership.

They had me in and out in 45min with a oil change and recall completed on my CRV. I can't say enough nice thingsโ€ฆ about them, quick, friendly, reasonable and most of all professional.

Found a car online. Checked out the dealership online and found most people were very happy with the service, so we made an appointment for a test drive. Sales specialist Michael B. worked well with us, answering all our questions and weโ€ฆ ended up working out a deal to purchased a 2011 Honda CRV-XL. Happy with the process. Had a good sense of being treated fairly before we got here and am more than happy with the results. This is a good company and they'll do a good job for you!!! Ask for Michael B., but looks like the whole staff is pretty great.
    • Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! Michael will love reading your review. Enjoy your new CRV!

I am a long-time customer of Metro Honda. Whether it is for oil change or regular/ minor/ major maintenance that my car needs I always keep coming back because of its fair pricing, excellent customer service (kudos to Rachel, Dayan andโ€ฆ George), and its fair pricing. Sometimes I failed to have an appointment, but still the wait is reasonable. Now I am braving the snow for my service appointment. Thank you Metro Honda for all you do.
