  • Service representatives lie, and cover for each other

1 out of 5 starsby Alexander on 02/04/2025

As stated above I had bad interactions with their service staff in which the service writer attempted to gaslight me as to the service intervals, under the assumption that the employee was merely misinformed, as I had been employed in the automotive industry, I called back in an attempt to reach a supervisor before leaving a critical review. Upon calling I was informed that no manager was available. Given this course of events I asked to leave a message for a manager, to which the individual agreed, however rather than take the message down I was interrupted multiple times in defense of the first interaction. Which to be fair is pretty much the same tactic employed by the first employee, to gaslight. It's truly a shame because my prior dealings have been positive, if not quite expedient. If they had simply taken down my message that the information provided by the first employee was misinformed or misconveyed and that it was my opinion that the money gained from this tactic isn't worth the deterioration of their integrity and my estimation of their overall quality, then there would be no review criticizing then as to err is human, however to not recognize sources of failure and honest criticism is an indicator of a corrupt or flailing buisness. It is my sincere hope that their management reads this and can correct the actions of their employees.
  • Dont Walk, Run away from Toyota of Morristown

This dealership after service support is the worst. Picked up our new 2024 Venza Limited on a Thursday at 8:30 pm, yes in the evening. Venza was out-side in the dark when we picked it up. The next morning noticed a small ding below the rear license plate. E-mailed our sales person Josh, he never responded, then called him and left a message, never responded. Next called the service manager, she never responded. Finally after a week of waiting, called and left a voice message with Ray Maglione the sales manager, he never responded. We are talking maybe a $250 ding repair. This quality issue should have been caught when Toyota of Morristown performed the PDI which Toyota pays the dealership to do. This will be our 7 Toyota purchase, first from Toyota Of Morristown and the last. This dealership is the worst of the worst after they have your $$. STAY AWAY.... Terrible customer service...
  • Toyota of Morristown CAN NOT FIX MY CAR

1 out of 5 starsby Tamara Zuchi on 12/02/2024

Service man Doug Muller is one you do not want to be dealing with at the service Department at Toyota of Morristown! If you get assigned to him, ask for someone else PLEASE! THE MAN IS RUDE, NOT WELL VERSED IN TOYOTA CARS, AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ! This person said the tech reproduced the problem we were having BUT CAN NOT FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR! THE MAN IS A TRAGEDY AND GOT VERY ANGRY AND ANIMATED WHEN I TOLD HIM WE WERE NOT PLEASED! HE WENT ON TO SAY AND I QUOTE..."THEN LEAVE YOUR CAR A FEW MORE xxxx DAYS AND WE WILL CHARGE YOU MORE!" WE LEFT AND I CALLED AN ASSOCIATE OF THE OWNER Johnathan Brauer TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS TOTALLY INCOMPETENT SERVICE PERSON THAT IN MY OPINION SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED ON THE SPOT FOR TREATING A CUSTOMER LIKE GARBAGE. PS I HAVE MY OWN AUDIO AND VIDEO THAT HE WAS UNAWARE OF THAT WAS RUNNING AS HE ACTED LIKE A FOOL THAT SHOWS THAT WHEN I GOT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DOWN, HE POPPED HIS HEAD AND ARMS ON THE OPEN WINDOW SHOUTING AND SCREAMING AT ME. AT THAT POINT MY DRIVER AND I LEFT THIS USELESS UNPROFESSIONAL RUDE UNEDUCATED PERSON BEHIND AND LEFT!!!!!! To protect our identity our girl friend wrote this review....you may ask why? Look at the THREATS by the owner that replied to so many negative reviews about his dealership....he uses his legal team as threats in many of his replies. I am sure he is another one you do not want to deal with like his incompetent service person DOUG MULLER!

Terrible experience. Went to price out a car. They offered me a good deal but needed to think it over. Proceeded to pressure me and no, not in the way car dealerships normally do… it was much more aggressive and down right rude. At one point the sale person told me when I go to Honda they will take my keys (to appraise my car) and not give them back to me until I fight them. I was with my 5 year old son who obviously overheard this. When we did get to Honda he kept asking if I had my keys and cried when they guy needed the to appraise my car. I’ve never seen a more bizarre sales tackle in my life. Woman don’t shop alone there!
  • They Try To Throw You Off with Tricks

    1 out of 5 starsby Andrew R on 03/03/2023

They advertised a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid online, so I went up to see and buy the car. It was a mess from the start. The person I made the appointment with, Matt, never even showed up. Then, the woman manager spent 30 minutes saying over and over again "How could this happen?" She became totally flustered. I couldn't have cared less. The big thing was I brought my own financing approval with me. The managers who play your friend in the beginning all of a sudden are saying "You can't do that!!, or "We don't deal with credit unions!' or "We will only take a personal check from you or our financing!", which none is true. Their rate was absurd! I signed up with their rate, and I will refinance before the 1st payment is due. They make money on their financing, and they count on that. They have slick gadgets in the finance department to impress you, and try to distract you while you sign. CHECK EVERYTHING WITH THIS AGENCY!!

  • Horrible Customer Service

1 out of 5 starsby RD on 10/01/2019

I brought my 2016 4Runner here for a recalled airbag to be installed. when i made the appointment i explained to them that i would need a rental car while they had my vehicle. they agreed and said it was covered. i asked how many days it would take to do the recall and they said it would be done in one day. i explained that i leave morristown at 4pm to commute home and they said it would be no problem. when i dropped the vehicle off that morning (at 7:10am) I explained that the back seat would not lay down using the handle. i also explained that the tire air input nozzle was broken off. I got my rental car and went to work. i texted the number they gave me at 2pm and got no answer. i texted the number at 3pm and got no answer. i called service and asked for my service tech and was told he would call me back. at 3:40pm he called me to tell me that they just put the vehicle on the lift. i asked if it would be done by 4 and he said that the recall takes 3 hours and they just put it up on the lift. i explained that my day ended at 4pm and i had to leave. instead of just telling me that i could keep the rental car, i was threatened with having to pay for it all weekend. As if it was my problem that they waited 8 hours to start work on my vehicle. I explained that i gave them my vehicle at 7am and their answer was to tell me it would be done in 1 day.. Which would be at 630pm. i explained that this did not work for me at all. I explained that this was poor customer service. The service tech said he would call me back. i called back to speak with a manager. i never heard from a manager. i heard from the service tech who explained that i could keep the rental over the weekend. on monday i texted and asked when my vehicle would be done. they said by 4pm. Apparently they needed another entire day at the dealership. when i picked up the vehicle i was met with a $450 bill. I paid for a bumper to bumper warranty when i bought this vehicle. At a minimum, the fact that the seat was broken and would not lay down should have been covered. they did not cover any of it. they argued that it was all wear and tear. i paid and left. i have an email out to the service manager to call me. i am still yet to hear from them. i am also going to alert anyone and everyone out there of how this place does business. so i will be writing this review on every single website i can. What a complete disappointment. I have been bringing my vehicle here for 10 years. I will never come back and will never purchase from this place.

  • Great Experience

5 out of 5 starsby MariPeter on 07/30/2016

A friend highly recommended Toyota of Morristown, we drove almost an hour and we are very happy we did it!!! It was truly one of the best car dealer experiences we have ever had starting with the meet and greet at the front door to the salesman, Jose Canales and the General Sales Manager, Jason Ratti. Both were very helpful, honest and understood our need. That same day we drove away with the car we wanted and a great offer. Highly recommend Toyota of Morristown, they work with you and have great prices. Will definitely be back to renew my lease again for another Toyota!
  • Charged for Unnecessary repairs!

    1 out of 5 starsby harrym82 on 05/12/2016

DO NOT GO HERE! THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR WORK THAT YOUR CAR DOESN'T NEED! In September of last year I began bringing my car to the Toyota of Morristown Service Center, located in New Jersey. I needed a water pump replaced. I was also told that there was another part that needed to be replaced on that visit, which I obviously agreed to. I was told that my back left rear bearing needed to be replaced, and did so in December. After this visit I was told that my back right wheel bearing would also have to be replaced. Since that visit, I had been told by several people that the $950 that it cost to replace the wheel bearing was too expensive by about $300 so I decided to go to a service station in my town from now on. At this service station, as well as at my Costco Tire Center, I was told that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my back right wheel bearing. In other words, the service station in town refused to take my money for a part that they said was working perfectly. Obviously this concerns me on many levels. The level of dishonesty exhibited by Toyota of Morristown astounds me. In addition, I wonder if the additional part that needed to be replaced along with the water pump, as well as the wheel bearing, had to be replaced in the first place, or if the mechanics looking at my car were told to drum up business. I believe that I should be reimbursed for these two repairs as there is no way to know if they were necessary due to the subsequent dishonesty.
    • Dear Harry Musto, At Toyota of Morristown we hold ourselves to a high standard of not replacing or performing any service that’s not needed. Al l of our technicians are ASE certified. This is the highest certification in the automotive industry. If you would like to return we would be happy to show you our findings. At this point we will not be issuing any refund. • Car Buying made Easy

    5 out of 5 starsby Chaz1103 on 02/11/2016

It took two weeks to make my choice of the Rav4, and I wanted to go to an off highway Dealership. I chose a family owned Toyota dealer in Morristown. NJ, recommended by my daughter, and she was right it was worth the 35 minute trip. they had the loaded limited I was looking for and I had a no hassle experience with Marlon Roberts my salesman. The deal was quick and honest from the price of the new vehicle; to a very honest value on my trade. Marlon was knowledgeable about all the features of the RAV 4. He also helped with the setup of Entune; and Bluetooth and answered all my questions so even I could understand this very complex SUV . Jay Ratti (management) was quick to get everything approved on the management end for a truly easy way to purchase my new car.
  • Good experience gone bad

3 out of 5 starsby jdsmicro on 02/03/2016

The sales team tried to make my experience hassle free. Len Pizza is my kind of salesman. No gimmicks or nonsense and treats the customer with respect. The problems started from the moment of delivery. The fact that the vehicle developed starting/electrical system problems the moment after I took delivery makes me wonder if the dealership knew or should have known there was a serious problem. The dealership has provided a loaner car for 2 days now while my vehicle sits in service however it is very troubling that they are not able to identify the source of the electrical problem in that time. Of course, I called Toyota USA and they don't want to discuss anything other than referring me to their Warranty Terms. So much for Toyota Customer Service and reliability. The saga continues but at this point I believe Toyota should immediately exchange my "lemon" for a new replacement.

  • High Pressure!

    3 out of 5 starsby oldcarguy42 on 10/30/2015

First of all I want to mention I traveled 1.5 hours to see the vehicle I was interested in. My main salesperson Jose was fine. I have no complaint at all with him. He was great the whole time. The other guy was the problem. I'm not sure if he was Jose's superior or mentor but he was wearing on me by the end of the deal. While I was pondering whether I wanted to make a deal or not was when he came on the scene. He started out very nice but turned high pressure as time went on. I was determined not to buy on impulse and this guy was annoying after awhile. I was either going to buy this vehicle or keep what I already had. I needed to decide if it would fulfill my needs more than anything else and worth the cash outlay. He wanted my keys so someone could look at my trade. My trade was worth nothing compared to the vehicle I was interested in due to its age so taking time to check it out closely would be a waste of time as it was in great shape for it's age. Meanwhile they held my keys for what seemed like an eternity I guess so I wouldn't leave. I even asked for them once and they said I'd get them back meaning later rather than sooner. I really don't believe anyone looked at it. At that point I almost left even though I had decided on the new vehicle. Even after I agreed to a deal it still took forever to close the deal. I was paying cash so there was no financing involved thank goodness. Then he wanted me to leave my trade and take the new vehicle home that night even though I had told him repeatedly I needed to take the trade home to take some items out of it. The new vehicle wasn't ready either as it needed some accessories installed that had to be ordered. I just wanted to go home and clean out my trade and come back when the new vehicle was ready but he kept the pressure on I assume so I'd buy it on impulse. He just didn't get it. I wasn't going to spend 80K+ on impulse. All I can say is I hope this guy wasn't teaching Jose. Luckily Toyota is a great product which is why I gave them a 3 star rating. The sales pressure was a nightmare and nothing I would want to go through ever again. A couple of months earlier I had purchased another Toyota for my wife locally and it was the smoothest and most pleasant deal ever. The difference was the dealership.
    • Dear David Spurin, We are sorry to hear about your experience. Please know it is never our goal to put pressure on any customer. We believe our positive reviews are evidence of this fact. You came in on a Certified 2014 red Landcruiser, and you came from Pennsylvania because you were looking specifically for a red Landcruiser which is a very rare and discontinued color. Our corporate policy is never to hold a used car, and you asked us to hold it for one week since you live in Pennsylvania, almost 2 hours away, and you could only come back on another Saturday. We are so sorry you felt pressured. We simply wanted to explain to you that we do not hold used cars because they are one of a kind. In addition there was tremendous interest in this Certified 2014 Landcruiser. We never intended to pressure you into buying this vehicle. We only wanted to be sure you understood that could not be held for you, especially for one week. If there is ever anything else that we can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact our store. Our phone number is 973-540-1111, and the email address is jratti@toyotaofmorristown.com. Thank you for taking the time to write a review, and we hope you are enjoying your Landcruiser.

I was super stressed and needed a new vehicle ASAP. I had a VW CC which was "possessed" and almost worthless. Somehow Marlon Roberts was able to get me close to the trade value I needed and into a certified pre-owned V6 Camrey just slightly over the amount I had budgeted but with the warranty I needed, which was most important. He was a no pressure, professional salesperson who was super efficient, knew his inventory and made my deal happen! Thanks Marlon. :-)
