  • Disappointing Experience from Sales to Finance

1 out of 5 starsby Disappointing on 03/27/2015

My experience with the finance department was a NIGHTMARE!! The process took TWO HOURS and it seemed like this was his first day on the job. The paperwork he gave me to sign was to finance 100% of the car. I had to ask why he didn’t deduct my down payment!!! AND the cash back bonus WASN’T DEDUCTED!!!! (was that intentional to see if I’m stupid so that you “make” money off of me????) THEN he redoes the paperwork and didn’t include the deposit I left a few days earlier! This on top of the sales guy told me that “I did a great job of negotiating without my husband”. I do NOT recommend Toyota of Morristown.

  • Toyota of Morristown Service Experience

    5 out of 5 starsby BettyAnn07052 on 09/11/2014

Efficiency and personal greeting into service area. Ray O kept me up to date, walked me out to a washed car, which was a pleasant surprise. The refreshments and paper make waiting enjoyable.

  • Poor customer service

    2.3 out of 5 starsby chrisn5 on 10/17/2009

They registered my Toyota Prius incorrectly. Although I told them my car was tax exempt and the bill of sales included no sales tax, they paid sales tax on my car to the CT DMV (even though the car is tax exempt in CT). Then they lied saying I was supposed to have supplied a tax exempt form. According tot he CT DMV there is no such form. My boss bought a Toyota Prius from them and the from the same sales man, and he didn't supply any special form. When I bought the car they even confirmed that there should be no sales tax. They made a misstake and let me clean up their mess. It took almost 3 months to get a refund from the CT Department of Revenues and I spent $ and make several phone calls to get it all sorted out. Toyota of Morristown refused to take any responsibility or compensate me for their error. Further, the car was supposed to be registered in both my wife's and my name, and they only registered in my name.
  • AVOID Service at this Dealership

During a Scheduled Maintenance I asked that the tires Not be rotated (I was going to buy new ones soon) hoping to save a few dollars. However, I'm thinking that they then didn't remove the tires to check the condition of the Brake Pads. Because, only 5,800 miles later, I found myself braking on the rotors!!! Of course, I immediately drove to the dealership (not knowing what was wrong) and pleaded that they service my car that day, as it was only noon time, and, "No, I wasn't going to drive it back home and come back the next day." The sound was Loud, like a grinding rubbing noise, and no way was I going to take the risk of driving around in that situation. The Assistant Service Manager's attitude, was one of I could care less, and was doing me a big favor by fitting me in. The total time I was there waiting from start to finish was almost 4 hours. Then I got a bill for over $350.00 which could have been avoided had the brake pads been inspected during the Scheduled Maintenace visit, because the rotors were severly damaged, as there was no pad left to brake on. Heck, I could have gone to Midas or Meinke, and gotten new front pads, for less than a $100.00 dollars, if I had been told after THAT Maintenance visit, that the pads were getting low. Im sure that Brake Pad was obvious then. And no, strangely, I had heard no usual, 'Squealing' sound when pads are thinning out. Anyway, talking with the Service Manager, (on 2 occasions) was an upsetting ordeal, as he was agrumentative and very difficult; the Customer Relations Manager, was no help either, as he promised, but never returned my call: Toyota Corporation tryed to interven - but also was ignored. I've given up and sworn to never, never, never, return to the Toyota of Morristown Dealership ever, ever again. I hope that this review will be helpful to others.
    • Woops! I actually paid $513.05 I just looked up the Invoice; now I feel worse :((

  • Bait and switch

1 out of 5 starsby johco on 06/17/2008

Be very carefull if you buy from these guys. All of the classic sleasey car sales techniques are in play. Most of what I was told by my sales person turned out to be [violative content deleted]. I had a written quote for a car from a manager. I told the manager I wanted the car and he said he would mark it "sold". I tried every day for 2 weeks to pick it up and I got the run around. I was told "they couldn't find the car", "the owners wife is driving it", "we think it might have been stolen" and finally when I showed up in person they admitted they sold my car to someone else who offered more money. They offered to get me another car but wouldn't honor the original quote.
  • Good Experience

4.8 out of 5 starsby jesseheap on 01/25/2008

Overall we had a good experience working with the sales team at Morristown Toyota. We recently purchased a Highlander Sport ''08 and spent about 2 1/2 hours negotiating what I believe to be a fair price (including trade-in). The whole negotiation process stayed civil and there was no animosity on either side. In fact, I would say that at times I actual enjoyed the negotiation process...:) The team has the right attitude - they were honest and understood the importance of long term customer relationships. They worked with me on the price and in the end we came to a reasonable middle ground. I always prefer supporting local business's and in the end, Toyota of Morristown made it an easy choice. I recommend them highly...
  • Honest online dealer

I received a quick email response that offered a good deal on the car I was asking about. I arranged to test drive the car and bought the car from Toyota of Morristown. Using Edmunds offered a means of starting the buying process on equal ground with the dealership and wound up with a deal below market value. One of the best car buying experiences I have ever had and they are usually not as positive as this turned out to be.

  • Bait and Switch

After being a customer for 10 years (purchased new cars from them and ongoing maintenance), I recently went to buy a new car. We negotiated the price/ trade-in value, signed contracts, and I put a deposit down on the vehicle. This whole process took over 2 hours. The next day, they call me and say they misquoted the price, and if I wanted the car, it would be $2K more. I will no longer bring cars to them for service, AND, I will never buy another Toyota because of this.

  • Beware of "Galves" appraisal prices

    2 out of 5 starsby bjplayer21 on 03/20/2011

The salesperson Geoff was professional, courterious and responsive. However, this dealership sells cars the old fashion way, salesperson to manager to finance person to whomever-at least a dozen times. At the end, this dealership would not honor the appraisal price quoted by Black Book for this dealership. Instead, they pulled out Galves and gave me a low ball appraisal on trade-in. They had very limited inventory on Limited Rav 4 and waisted many hours.

  • New 2013 Toyota Camry Purchase

I was very happy with the salesperson Stephen H. I feel that I was provided a fair price. In addition, he was patient and extremely accommodating and went out of his way to make me happy by having a car delivered in the color I wanted with the tires that I preferred. In addition, when we went to pick up the car, both my husband and I looked it over before signing for it. However, we did not notice two little dings. The second I drove it into our garage, I noticed them because of the way the light fell. Some dealerships might have said that I had signed for the car and I had signed that everything was fine. The truth is I simply had not noticed this. I hesitated to say anything because I didn't want to be treated as a liar. However, I knew that the truth was that I simply missed it and I thought I'd just bring it up and see if the dealership would help me. I was so pleasantly surprised. The salesperson told me a woman named Judy would contact me that day and that it would be very easy to remove the tiny dents. If I had the choice of providing a fraction of a star, I would rate this experience as 4.75 stars. I'm giving them 5 because I don't have this option. The only reason I didn't rate the experience 100% excellent was that I had to follow up with the salesperson when the person who was going to take care of the repair did not call me after a week. However, she subsequently called after I followed up with the salesperson, I was provided a loaner, and the car came back perfect! This is the second car I purchase from Toyota of Morristown and I highly recommend them.

  • Longtime Toyota of Morristown Customer

Toyota of Morristown has been servicing our different Toyota models for 20 years, and I am convinced that the extraordinary reliability we've experienced with our cars is due in part to the knowledgeable mechanics and scheduled service guidelines they provide. Most recently, they fixed a broken steering mechanism in my daughter's 2006 Rav4 in addition to a regular service checkup. I made the appointment online at a time that was convenient for me, and dropped the car off at 3:00 PM. Within one hour, my service rep called to confirm the problem and gave me the repair quote. He ordered the part that evening, and the Rav4 was ready to for pick up the next morning. I have complete confidence that they only perform the necessary service and charge me accordingly with an itemized list of parts and labor. After so many years of going there, I can definitely say they have earned my trust. I currently drive a Sequoia that is going strong after more than 200,000 miles. Thank you Toyota of Morristown! AMP of Bernardsville, NJ.
