  • Never Again

The dealership had my registration and never notified me that there was a problem with my registration until I called them trying to verify what was holding me receiving my permanent registration. I was referred to them by my mother who was promised $100 and they told her she wasn't receiving it because I got such a "great deal" on my car.

  • Ridiculously dishonest; do not go to Plaza Honda

1 out of 5 starsby neddardstark on 07/31/2014

I called Plaza Honda in Brooklyn with a price quote from a Queens Honda dealer for an Accord Hybrid; they guaranteed that they would beat the price. Once I got there, Dexter (the salesman) gave me a BS story about not having the car because they just sold 300 hybrids to a taxi company in Florida and tried to convince me to buy a different car! When I insisted on the hybrid, he asked me if I was willing to wait a couple of months for it to become available, and that I would have no choice in color. Really? I informed him that at least 5 other NYC dealers had the car in stock. In the most cliched salesman tactic out of the worst B-movie, he left the room and came back saying he found 5 hybrids shipping to Florida but that he would "lose the paperwork" on one of them so he could sell it to me. Does he think people are that stupid? When he crunched the numbers, his price was $2000 higher than the quote I had called in with. I was ready to buy if they would just meet, not beat, the other dealer's price. He came up with a new number that was still $800 higher than the other dealer's quote. I refused and the manager was brought in. When the manager saw the price I wanted, his eyes nearly popped out of his head. He went on and on about how his price was amazing and that all the other quotes I got were lies. I told him I was willing to drive around to other dealers and get a fair price and he nearly lost his mind; he said he would be losing money if he sold it to me at the price quote I showed him. He lost his temper and guaranteed that I would not get my car at the price I wanted, that he knew every dealer in NYC and no one would sell it to me. He was very aggressive and even physically overbearing; it was the most terrifying sales experience I've ever had. When he saw I wasn't budging on price, he finally thanked me and showed me to the door. Plaza Honda does not respect potential customers: they are trying to get as much money out of you as they possibly can, hoping to cash in on your ignorance. Next, I went to the other Honda dealership in Brooklyn (there are only two). They matched my quote and actually included a ton of accessories at a reasonable price. (The salesperson over there told me that Plaza had lost 80% of their workforce about a year earlier when nearly all of the salespeople and managers quit at the same time. Half of them ended up at the other Brooklyn dealer and half somewhere else. Come to your own conclusions about why employees would leave en masse!) Bottom line: Plaza Honda is a disreputable dealer. They will use sleazy tactics and outright lies to squeeze every last penny out of you. Don't fall for it. Do your homework and stick to your guns. And find honest, respectful dealers; there are at least 10 Honda dealers in or around NYC. Go anywhere else but Plaza Honda.

  • Bad experience

1 out of 5 starsby Alexrtk on 07/16/2014

I visited Plaza Honda dealership and had conversation with dealer and manager. Their last offer was $1800 due signing and $438 per month for 2014 Accord EX-L V6. My offer was 0 down and $370 per month (including taxes). I showed them my calculations that based on average cross country lease deals for this type of car. Their offer sounded ridiculous. For now I'm leasing Acura TL 2012 (which is more upscale car than Accord) and I'm paying $424 per month (with $1000 due signing). My conversation with dealer and manager was not so pleasant. They told me how much money they will lose on my deal and joking about my russian roots. Not sure that I'm willing to have a business with people who treat me so bad.

  • Stay away unless you want to get screwed!! Bait & Switch dealers

    1 out of 5 starsby hoffy5 on 06/27/2014

Let me start by saying I usually don't leave reviews especially not negative ones! But the experience I had today with Plaza Honda I feel obligated to share so hopefully others won't suffer what I just went through (I have also filled a complaint with NYC consumer affairs) I have leased leased & purchased 7 brand new cars in my life (even 1 from Plaza Honda in 2010, what a difference 4 years make) so I know quite well how dealers operate. I walked in to trade in & lease a new odyssey. Right away the sales guy asked me are you serious because a lot people just come in to test drive & don't purchase.. (I didn't even ask to take a test drive because my brother has one so I drove his) after apologizing for being rude they appraise my car & he comes back with the info. I gracefully thank him for his time & tell him their prices doesn't work for me as I was looking to get more for trade in and lower lease rate. So he asks me to please let him speak with his manager which I agree. Salesman comes back with handshake & tells me I have the deal you asked for and asked me if I can give him a deposit, which I answered yes, please tell me the colors available, we pick a color & write agreement for price agreed & we both sign the form and they charge me cc for the amount on agreement which is first month & plates. 3 hours later I'm back to pick up new car witch already has my insurance on it, I'm shocked with no words to express to find on bottom of our agreement form is written in with new handwriting & darker ink INSEPTION Fee of $2450, being in a state of shock I ask the manager what's this all about, first he tries saying taxes but when I tell them we agreed & you knew from the onset that I'm putting zero down except first month & plates (which to salesman tells manager yes we did say zero down) manager changes & says we can't give you that much for your trade in. So manager & salesman walk away to discuss this bait & Switch & manager offers me my money back. They even tried taking away my agreement by saying they need it to issue refund.... I was able to get it back from the general manager Sasha after I threatened to get my attorney involved.

  • Avoid this dealer especially the finance department

1.3 out of 5 starsby zengl on 03/09/2010

I recently have done lots of extensive research online about purchasing a car. So, I ended up buying the car from the Auto Plaza since they can offer me a invoice price for the Honda CRV 2010. The salesman is ok. I bought the car ( I specially asked black color car only, no other secondary option). After I signed and put down the 500$ deposit down, the sale person called me about 2-3 hours later and said; " Sorry, We don't black color CRV in stock right now. Would you like to change it to a deep blue one instead." I was thinking the deep blue color is almost same as the black. So I agreed. But that makes me a little bit unsatisfied. The worst thing comes at the second day. the finance. So I was assigned to a guy name Mike in the Hyundai department. I was convinced that I need to buy a extended warranty which cost about 2500$ in order for me to get approved for the auto loan. I was specially told I can only buy the extended warranty from them, no other place. If I didn't buy the extended warranty, I would not be able to be approved for my loan. So I was silly enough to trust the word and bought the extended warranty which cost about 2500$ in which I can get from other place at round 1000$. They make ***** 1500$ out of my extended warranty. That is insane. Couple days later, I called to this finance guy and asked to cancel my extended warranty, the guy avoided my phone. ( " Sorry, I am talking to a client right now, and i am off on Tuesday, Wednsday, Thursday, Friday, Please Call me back next Monday. ) I was like [violative content deleted]. Now, I knew I was cheated and I don't know what to do. I would report this fraud or scam.

  • Unprofessional, dishonest, would not recomend

I requested a quote on a new Honda Odyssey from this dealer. Dealer responded with a quote via email promptly and then insisted I "book an appointment". I booked the appointment for 9am the following day via phone, and specified that I wanted to test drive the Odyssey. When I showed up for the appointment at the designated time, they didn't have any Odyssey's for me to test drive. When I complained that this was the whole reason for my trip to the dealership, they suggested that I come back another day, and that "since I wasn't going to buy today anyway" it was somehow my fault that they didn't have a car for me to drive. Finally as I was leaving they suggested that if I came back again I'd get a "really good deal", implying the original quote they gave me was not the lowest they were prepared to sell for - clearly contradicting the "Premiere Dealer" status they have with Edmonds. DEALER FAIL PS, sales person also lacked basic knowledge about features in each trim level

  • Woman car buying experience

5 out of 5 starsby kors on 01/13/2008

I shopped around for a few months requesting quotes from several dealerships on a Honda Accord. Most of the dealerships I called treated me disrespectful and tried talking me into other options or another car. When I called Plaza Honda, I figured I would receive the same treatment. To my surprise, the sales representative called me back within an hour and patiently answered all of my questions regarding the car of my interest. He quoted me a price on the exact car I wanted and scheduled me an appointment with an extremely nice sales person. I walked in and signed the contract with no hassle; I drove off within an hour in my brand new 2008 Honda Accord EX-L V6. Never thought it would be so easy for a woman. Thanks Plaza Honda
  • Great Experience!

5 out of 5 starsby andypapas on 01/06/2008

I submited a request for a quote and recieved it in about 2 hours. I then scheduled an appointment and purchased the car for the price that I had been given. The next day I picked up the car with my wife and was in and out without any problems or surprises! The process was straight forward and the staff, from the representative that I originally spoke with to the Salesman and Manager, were polite and professional. Good people!
  • My mistake was in dealing with these people.

1.8 out of 5 starsby jazznart on 11/09/2007

This may be the scuzziest, slimiest dealer I have ever dealt with. I avoided buying a car from them for the last 45 years because the 5 or 6 times I've had to deal with them have resulted in either my being insulted, or having to go back several times for simple stuff, or both. I finally bought a car from them last week. What a mistake! The car is fine but the experience left me ranting and raving. They lie routinely, they BS just for the hell of it, they negotiate and then break their word, they insult you directly and indirectly, the entire experience took about 3 weeks plus a final 3 hours before I finally got my car at the price we had agreed upon. I finally rejected the entire deal when they added all kinds of nickel-and-dime numbers to the final price which I wouldn't have noticed if I handed bothered to add up all the numbers on the computer-printed contract. I kept insisting they correct the agreement, the kept tearing up the old one and printing out a new one that had a few less bucks added on. They did this three times and finally insisted that I was trying to cheat them over $45. I got up to walk out - not because $45 makes anyone richer or poorer but because I wouldn't allow myself to be insulted like that. Finally the sales manager, who insisted that he was "a man of principle' (yeah, sure)gave in and waived that $45 thus bringing the contract down to what we had originaly agreed upon. Afterwards I checked with several people who had purchased or leased from Plaza and discovered their experience was similar to mine; they routinely do this. A week later I went back to the Plaza parts department to buy a few air filters so that my mechanic could do my oil and filter changes. I can buy a cheap oil/filter change for $15 or $20 but I prefer to pay my mechanic $25 for the full job. Plaza wanted to charge me $28 just for one air filter. 'Nuff said.

This dealership advertising one prices but when you go into the dealership they tell you that the real price is an additional $750. Then they also want to charge you a $99. fee because they put "nitrogen" in the tires.

I leased a new Honda accord from This dealership on 3/31/12, after i spend from 11 am to 7 pm in dealership, they finally called to to finance department to sign all the papers. Guy was very rude to me and start saying that i need to pay some extra hidden fees even though it was aggregated with dealer that everything was included in price. After talking to manager over a phone i signed the papers because i just was very tired and misleading knowing that i am signing not the same deal that was discussed. Never again i will deal with them. I would rather overpay instead of dealing with [non-permissible content removed].

These people will force you to go through their finance + buy all kind of Warranties costing atleast $3000- $4000 , and when you dont go through their finance - they have a million reasons to NOT accept your check. they ask you to bring another check and another check till you get pisssed off and finally finance from them. if you have no issues financing with them please CHECK THE CALCULATIONS ON THE FINANCE SHEET , THEY CHARGE YOU THE SAMETHING AGAIN AND AGAIN , because many people dont understand INTEREST calculations they take advantage of this and try to confuse you. DONT GET CONFUSED TRY TO BREAK THE LOAN AMOUNT PER YEAR AND YOU WILL GET AN IDEA if he is charging you extra!!!! ITZ better to avoid this dealer when we know these people can go to any extent. MAy be other dealers would do the same but I am sure this is the WORST. AVOID THEM!

Wow, I'm really glad I didn't actually read the reviews before I came to Plaza Honda! I skimmed over the amount of stars they received and went for it and I have to say, I'm really happy I did. It was my first time every buying a car and I was anxious and excited. I worked with Brian L who was courteous and professional. He took me on a test drive in both a Civic and an Accord because I was having a hard time deciding which I wanted. He was extremely knowledgeable and taught me how to use all the features in the car. When it came time to get insurance, Brian helped me call multiple insurance companies to make sure I was getting the vert best quote. I ended up using Plazas in house insurance company Regency because they were about 40 dollars a month cheaper than everywhere else! I definitely recommend Plaza Honda and my Sales Rep Brian L for anyone in the NYC area because as far as my experience tells, Plaza will make sure you drive away happy with your decision.

After seeing a commercial for the 2011 Honda Accord Cross Tour on TV I went online to get more information. I filled out the information and the following day a gentleman named Don called. Don was extremely helpful and suggested I come in and look at the car. I originally was not going to purchase the car until after I got back from my vacation in June but was excited to see the car. Don gave me excellent directions, since as a native Staten Islander to me Brooklyn is a place over the bridge. I parked my car down the block from Plaza Auto Mall walked down and when I got to the receptionist I told her I wanted to see Don. A young man by the name of Dimitriy came over and stated he would help me. When I told him I wanted to see Don he said Don was the (Internet Guy) and he was a salesman. He took me over to the Cross Tour and wanted me to get in, which I chose not to do. We went to his desk and I explained that I wanted to trade in my 2005 Honda Civic and purchase the Cross Tour. Dimitriy stated that they had a very good lease plan, which I said I did not want, he said they had a great payment plan for purchase which I stated I did not want at which time Dimitriy wanted to know what I wanted. I told him I wanted to buy the Cross Tour, trade in my 2005 Honda Civic with less than 24,000 miles and pay for the Cross Tour. Dimitriy left and came back and told me the book value on my car was $6300, and they were happy to give me that. At that point I asked him if I went over to their used car Honda lot across the street would I be able to purchase a 2005 Honda Civic for $6300.00. After a few pondering minutes Dimitriy asked what I would want for my car. I told him $8000.00 only because that figure jumped in my head. I really went to see the car in person not purchase it that day which was 04/21/2011.Dimitriy left to talk to the manager, who came over introduced himself as Lou and welcomed me to their showroom, and said they would be happy to give me $8000.00 for my car, but wanted Dimitriy to take the car to be checked over, which was fine with me, but I told Dimitriy not to get in an accident with my car. Dimitriy came back and we sat down to write up the order form. I told him I wanted either the Glacier Blue Metallic or the Opal Sage Metallic and I wanted black interior. After writing up the order he stated I needed to give $500.00 in order for them to order the car. I gave a check made out to Plaza Auto Mall in the amount of $1000.00. All this was on 04/21/2011. I left very happy with the idea that I would be getting a new car. The balance would be $27,473.02 payable on delivery. The following week Dimitriy called and said he had good news and bad news. I told him to give me the bad news first. He said the car had come in but it was not blue or green, but was grey with black interior. I was getting the EX-L SEDAN. I told Dimitriy that was nice but I wanted blue or green. He said I would have to wait and I said fine. On May 2,2011 Dimitriy called around 10AM and said to go to the bank and get the check he was going to get the car. He gave me the VIN# told me to call the insurance company and give them his fax # so I could drive home that day. I was paying $300 for motor vehicle paperwork to be done as I was keeping my plates. He was going to call me as soon as the car was in. I called my insurance company explained the situation give them the fax # and they said it was an email number. The insurance company said there was no problem I paid $24.16 and they would take care of it. I went to the bank got the Cashiers Check ,got my title together with the other papers, took the things out of my trunk and vacummed the inside and waited for Dimitriy to call. At 6:34pm Dimitriy called and said the car was not in. He stated he looked all over for it he went to the Bronx and to New Jersey and said he was told the car would be in in a couple of days.So now I had insurance on a car I did not have and no insurance as of 05/03 on the car I had. I called Geico and told them what happened and they said I could cover insurance on both cars, which I did. Dimitriy had said he would call Wednesday morning. I knew he was off on Tuesday and Thursday so when he never called on Wednesday I was not too happy. I called him on Friday,at 9:15am naturally got voice mail and left a message for him to call which he didn't. At 9:48 AM I called Don (the internet guy) left a message for him to please call as I was having a problem and left my name and phone #.When I didn't hear from anyone at 10:48am I called Dimitriy left a message for him to tell Lou his manager that I was cancelling the order and would be in on Saturday for a refund check for $1,000.00 and a copy of my original order form that he forgot to give me on the 21st of April. Two minutes later at 10:50AM Dimitriy called. I told him I wanted the car that day (Friday) or I was cancelling and to tell Lou his manager. I was losing interest on over $27,000.00, paying insurance on two cars, and they did not have the decency to call or even answer my calls. He said he would talk to his manager and call me back. I asked Dimitriy the managers last name and he told me he was not sure it was a long name.At 2:00PM still no call. At 2:30PM I called Dimitry left a message that I was redepositing the check and would be in to pick up the order form not previously given and a check for my $1000.00 deposit since no call had been returned. I then called Don a few minutes later from my cell phone and of course he answered, I explained the whole story to him and he said either he or Dimitriy would call me. Fifteen minutes later Dimitriy called I asked what time the manager Lou would be in on Saturday, he said 9AM I said I would be there to get a check and my order form. He told me he did not think I would get the order form because I was cancelling the order. I told him to tell Lou I would be in on Saturday and I said I would get a copy of the order form. Saturday morning I went to the bank early and redeposited the check. I then went to Brooklyn with all my papers around noon. I went into the showroom told the receptionist who I was and why I was there. She went to tell Lou who came out to the reception desk and said I could either get a check or buy the car that day. I told him I wanted the car on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,Thursday and Friday but today Saturday I wanted my refund check and order form. As if on cue Dimitriy walked through the door, and Lou told him to fill out the form for my check and get me a copy of the order form. Dimitriy filled out the form and pushed it over for me to read. I asked what it was he said a form to credit my credit card. I told him I had given a check and showed a photo copy of the check, so he crossed out credit account and wrote check took it to Lou to sign and when he came back he said that it had to go upstairs and a check would be mailed to me. As of yesterday 05/11/2011 still no check so I called the phone number on order form. I spoke to the operator whose name was Janeeta told her who I wanted to speak to (Lou)and why. She asked me to hold so she could call him. When she came back on the line she said Lou told her to transfer me to his line, he was on the line, leave my name and phone # and he would get back to me when possible. I had told her about the check and he told her to tell me that it could take up to 10 business days. I am a retired senior living on social security and a small BANK pension. From the $1,000.00 check deposit on 4/21/2011 which cleared my account in two business days to the call on 5/02/2011 to go to the bank and get the check, bring the title and have insurance put on the car the Salesman was picking up the car = to the call that night that he couldn't find the car and went to the Bronx and NJ (I was paying $780 for destination fee) to the fact that I was losing interest on the $27,473.02 check I was holding, insurance on two cars, inconsiderate attitude on behalf of the Salesman Dimitriy and the Manager Lou that I would expect a phone call and when on 05/7/2011 I went there after I redeposited the check in my account at the bank, and got a copy of a check request form and a copy of my original order form for my Honda Accord Cross Tour fully loaded EX-L I was told a check would be mailed. As of today I do not have my check and the Manager Lou told the operator who I spoke to at the main phone number on 05/11/2011 that I might not get my check for ten business days. It only took two business days for Plaza Auto Mall's check to clear my account. I told the operator whose name was Janeeta, that she should tell him I would call NY1 and I would post the whole thing on Facebook. I am a retired senior who lives on social security and pension and after seeing the Cross Tour commercial on TV wanted to use my savings to buy the car. I do not know if Dimitriy and Lou have a problem with elderly people, women, or customers who do not want to finance, but the people at my insurance company, bank, family and friends all agree that Plaza Auto Mall = Honda need a crash course in customer appreciation. The gentleman (the internet guy who calls people after they research the internet) Don and the front desk receptionist were both the most pleasant and helpful of the four of them. Having spent my career in the financial field I know what good customer service is and always relayed that to staff and co=workers. The Manager Lou and Salesman Dimitriy should be ashamed of themselves, and the overall head office should be made aware of their incompetent help at this office.
  • Disappointed car buying experience from the Plaza Auto Mall

I am a loyal customer to Plaza Auto Mall. I bought three cars from this dealer. The first two time I bought the cars from the dealer was a happy and smooth experience. But the third time was a nightmare experience in buying a car because I had encounter two most dishonest and unprofessional sales person. I went to Plaza Auto Mall on 12/31/11 to buy 2012 Honda CRV. Ming C. was my sale person but he was so inexperience sales I ever encounter. After he wrote up the sales order and I paid $500.00 deposit on Honda CRV 2012 that I wanted to buy. I did not pick up the car on 12/31/11 because it was on Saturday, and I was not able to get the insurance. So, I waited until 1/2/12 to get the insurance and wanted to pick up the car on the same day. Somehow Ming C. made a mistake by not taking the car out of inventory that was supposed sold to me. And then Ming's manager who name is Peter Chan(Asia Manager) is taking over my case and promised to delivered the car on the coming weekend which is 1/7/12. When I contacted Peter Chan on 1/6/12 to have him faxed over my purchase order with a new VIN # to my insurance company. The Peter have Ming called me and want to returned the deposit to me and cancelled my sale ordered. Ming said the 2012 Honda CRV was in tight inventory, don't want to sell the car to me until there are more inventory. So I called Peter Chan asked him why I don't get the car he had promised to delivered to me. Then Peter Chan has some guys name "Frank" posed as Plaza Auto Mall manager to talk to me and also promised me, he will get car for me in about 10-14 days. So I waited until 1/18/12 to contact Peter Chan again and ask him what is the status of my car. He told me that the car would arrive to the dealer on 1/26/12 and can deliver the car to me by 1/28/12-Saturday. I contacted Peter Chan on wednesday-1/25/12 to have him faxed the sales order to my insurance agent to get the car insurance for me to pick the car on Saturday. A day went by and no sales invoice was sent to my insurance agent. On Thursday, both me and my husband try to call Peter Chan, he started to avoid our phone calls and not return calls even though we left him many messages. For a sale person to be this irresponsible and dishonest. I don't think he is fitted to be in car sales profession. From the stressed and heartache that Peter Chan have caused me in the process of buying a car in whole month of January 2012. I swear I will never go back to Plaza Auto Mall to buy another car again.

What a bunch of lying, cheating, dishonest [non-permissible content removed]! My husband and I want to lease a Honda Civic. We each called, separately, for a quote over the phone. My husband spoke to Amira; I spoke with Myra. We both made it very clear that we want the final price over the phone, since my husband would have to take off from work to go down to the dealership and he wouldn't have time to haggle when he gets there. Both salespeople informed us that we can have the Civic for $125 a month with zero down and around $1400 in closing fees (tax upfront, bank, DMV fees) and NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES. We asked several times if there would be ANY kind of additional costs; we were assured that there wouldn't. My husband drove down there - it took him an hour just to get there with traffic - and was handed a document that listed charges totaling about $2200 in closing fees, NOT INCLUDING TAX as originally requested. The tax was to be rolled into the monthly payment, which would now be $136.05. Basically, they were adding on a thousand dollars in total to the price quoted! When my husband protested, the person he was dealing with, Malik A., went to consult the manager and then came back to tell him that they cannot honor the original price. Not only did these people waste several hours of my husband's precious time, but they also cost us a great deal on another vehicle. We had an amazing offer on a different, fully loaded car from a reputable dealer whose services we previously used and were perfectly satisfied with. We rejected that offer in favor of the Civic from Plaza Auto. Now that deal is no longer available. So if you are considering leasing/buying from Plaza Auto because of a great quote that a salesperson gave you, save yourself the time and aggravation and look elsewhere, because you can be certain that regardless of the assurances they give you, you will not end up paying the amount you were quoted at Plaza Auto.
