  • BAIT AND SWITCH??

After several emails and calls, I was promised a test drive on a manual transmission AWD-TL. They said the car was available, in the color I wanted, and we made an appointment for a test drive. I show up, we spend a half hour filling out… papers...and lo and behold..."Oh, I'm sorry, we don't have that particular car here.....you can try a manual TSX or an automatic TL, if you like" or "If you leave a deposit, we can have the car brought here". I told them EXACTLY what I wanted, no ifs, ands or buts. They just wasted my time...so I just walked out!!

I called Paragon Acura on April 21, 2013 and spoke with a person named Stefanie and I inquired about the 2010 Certified Acura TSX 3.5 they advertised online. I was assured by Stefanie that the car is available for sale so we drove for… almost two hours to go to Paragon Acura and was advised to go see Angelo N. When we got there we were told that the car was already sold and we were shown different cars instead. This is a typical bait and switch deal. We told Angelo that we were only interested in the 2010 Acura TSX 3.5. We left the dealership. Then we were 4 blocks away from the dealership and Angelo called my son who was with me to inform us that the car is available for us to purchase after all. He told us that his Sales manager, Robbie gave him the approval to sell it since the customer who first purchased it cancelled the purchase. We were asked to put a deposit of $5000 and we can bring the balance the next day since we are purchasing the car in cash. Joel, another salesperson wrote the Purchase Order and took our information. We put in $5000 credit card deposit and we were given a Purchase Order. As far as we are concerned, I purchased a 2010 Acura TSX with VIN # JH4CU4F47AC003513 for $19500. We came back to Paragon Acura today, April 22, 2013 with a Certified Cashier Check for the remaining of the balance. We even took days off from work just to pick-up the car since we are almost two hours away from Paragon Acura. When we got there, Angelo N., our salesperson told us that the car was already sold even though we can clearly see that the car was still on the lot at 58th Street. This is clearly a shady dealership who try to do a bait and switch tactic, who even went at great length by providing us a Purchase Order. We pretty much wasted 2 days dealing with this shameful dealership. I hope people will learn from our mistakes and not ever deal with Paragon Acura ever. I do not know why the State of New York still allows this unscrupulous dealership to still remain in business.

I liked being welcomed by a sales agent the second I stepped into the showroom. I liked the professionalism, no pressure, no stress, no hassle dealings. The whole experience felt like friends (that includes the finance manager !!) were… helping me shop for a new car with my satisfaction as their only motivation. How exceptional is that!

My husband and I went into Paragon Acura and worked out a deal with the salesperson Cara C. for a new 2012 MDX. She was pleasant enough and we think we got a fair deal. We were told to come in the next day (which happened to be New Year's… Eve) since the car was stored on an off-site lot. The next day, I call Cara around 3pm and was told to go start the financing paperwork and by then our car would be ready. We get there around 4:30 and did not finish the paperwork until 7PM because there was a long line for the financing dept (they totally need more than 2 guys processing these?!) We were then told they car was NOT delivered yet, possibly delayed due to New Year's Eve traffic. Cara's manager Sam Y. who was the WORST came in and gave us a bunch of excuses while offering us nothing for our trouble. We made 2 trips and spent hours at this place and now they say they don't have a car for us? Being that it was New Year's Eve, there was nothing anyone could do, Mr Y. said he would call us day after New Year as soon as the car gets there. Now, it's the day after New Year's and I'm chasing these guys and they are giving me the runaround! Sam finally gets on the phone and tells me the car has been reported stolen and is in Florida. What?! Seriously?! They basically sold me a car that doesn't even exist on their lot. I've put in calls to their General Manager and have not heard back from anybody yet what they plan to do to make things right. I already paid over $10,000 in deposit and completed all the financing paperwork! I spent hours there for nothing, I could've gone to any other dealer and had a car by now already! Very annoyed and angry, they better not be playing games with me and offer me the same or better car for the same price!!

Our experience with the Sales team at Paragon has continually been top notch. Over the years we've purchased & leased vehicles from Paragon and, frankly, wouldn't consider another Acura dealership before these guys. Rob S. (who worked on… all of our deals) has continually gone above and beyond to get us the vehicles we want. On our latest deal we also worked with Mike T. who was really professional and patient with us -- I can be a little picky and we were considering several CPO cars. To make a long story short, after our latest visit to Paragon we left the dealership the same way we came in: As happy, loyal, Paragon Acura customers. Keep up the great work!!!
    • We appreciate you taking the time to provide such wonderful feedback and the 5-star rating! We are dedicated to providing excellent customer service so it does not surprise us that Rob and Mike have continuously been willing to go above and beyond for you. We are glad to hear their professionalism and helpfulness are the reasons for your great experience at Paragon Acura. Thank you for your continued loyalty to and patronage! We hope you'll think of us again when the time comes to service your new purchase. Until that time comes, be sure to check us out on Facebook and Twitter. We offer exclusive deals and specials to our fans! All the Best, Brian Benstock General Manager

  • Terrible Service Department experience

    2 out of 5 starsby ari_vederci on 10/08/2011
    updated 04/25/2025

Terrible Service Department experience. Three months prior to my horrible experience, I bought a 2010 Acura TSX with manual transmission from an Acura Dealership in Manchester CT. Only drove the car for 2800 miles and 3 days into my 10 day… vacation in New York City, my brand new clutch burns out rendering the car non-drivable. I couldn't believe it, a brand new car with ~3K miles driven on Connecticut road and traffic and the clutch burns out!!! Mind you, I learned to drive on manual transmission and have 10 years experience with two prior cars (Ford Probe and Honda Accord) with stick shifts transmissions. So, Paragon Acura agreed to accept my car for diagnosis and Acura roadside assistance provided free towing to them. Three days later, I am contacted by K.e.v.i.n C.u.n.n.i.n.g.h.a.m (service assistant) regarding the clutch, who states that the clutch meets the "wear and tear" criteria and is NOT COVERED under warranty. When I heard this SHOCKING news, I met with M.i.k.e T.i.m.p.o.n.e (Parts & Service Director) in their shop. He persistently told me that the brand new clutch burnt out due to wear and tear issues and not a manufacturer defect. You have to understand that Wear and Tear items (such as clutch or breaks) are not covered under warranty. I took this up with Acura Client Service (800-382-2238), who assigned a district manager to the case. So the next day I get a phone call from her and she tells me she LOOKED at "pictures" or my clutch and upheld the decision of the service managers. I went on a rampage and argued with the Paragon Acura service department, while M.i.k.e brought his henchmen in attempt to prove that the clutch was what it was!!! Basically it was David vs. Goliath. My only options, were either tow the car or repair it at Paragon Acura for twice the cost at an independent transmission shop. The invoice Paragon Acura provided for repairs was $1,600 with $340 for the clutch parts and the remainder for hours and labor. I towed the car out of there as soon as I could and paid $850 for repairs at a transmission shop down the road. There is lack of empathy for the customers, and Paragon are [violative content deleted] hiding behind a big corporate name (ACURA!!!) The reason I gave it 2/5 stars, was because ACURA did provide a loaner car for the duration of my car kept in the shop.

Thought I negotiated a fair price for new MDX w/tech from online but when I showed up in person, the price went back up to MSRP plus. The sales person Rob was rude and bully, making sarcastic jokes and question I could afford the vehicle.… It was a total wasting of my time.

Words cannot express how much this location makes me want to rip someone's head off. The latest of a pile of issues since 2009 is the wonder of why I would drop off my car for service at 8AM Wednesday morning, inform that I will return… first thing Thursday morning for pick up, only to discover that it was never serviced. It was never even put in as an order. And what does the service tech say to me in response? "Oh I thought I had more time." Sorry, I was unaware that it took more than 24 hours to change oil and check a clutch. No apologies. No other explanation. No people skills. Just because I don't cause a scene, does not give a customer service rep the right to test me & take advantage of my patience. I cannot wait to be rid of this relationship.

Went to dealership after seeing 2 cars of interest (an Accord and an MDX) for sale online that day. After sitting for a total of 20 mins with the salesman getting up numerous times and being asked the same info 2-3 times (salesman may have… had trouble w/ English) I was told that one had been sold and the other was across the street. At some point after mentioning that I was interested in hearing what else he may have in those two models, and that I would also like to test drive an RDX he curtly responded by saying that "you must decide whether you want an SUV or a sedan". Eventually I went across the street at that point to find out that the other car had been sold already as well. Wasted 40 mins for nothing!
    • I apologize for your recent dissatisfaction. This is not how we do business and we strive to make sure to satisfy every customer and take their time very seriously. I am extremely happy and satisfied with the service provided by the sales person ( Joe Rosa). He gave me a great deal on the acura TL. It has been 1 week and he has reached out to me twice about the VIN verification that I need to get done… for the plates to be processed. Joe Rosa was extremely helpful and I would recomend this dealer to my friends and family. The other person who did an excellent job was Wendy Deshais. She patiently walked us through all the features of the car and had all the answers to our question. Overall a great buying experience at the dealership.

I have time and time again been patient and forgiving of this location. But they always take my kindness and patience for granted. They promised to polish my car when I was making the purchase. They said they would get rid off any… scratches, marks, and change out the old tires for newer ones. I SHOW UP FOR EACH AND EVERY APPOINTMENT ON TIME AND EACH TIME THEY STAND ME UP. THEY ARE IRRESPONSIBLE [violative content deleted]. THEY NEVER PICK UP MY PHONE CALLS, AND I CAN NEVER REACH THEM. NOONE CAN GIVE ME AN ANSWER. The manager I spoke to is a [violative content deleted]. He would tell you one thing and never do it. The whole showroom is in on it together. They will make it seem like they are working on it, or to make things better. But NOTHING IS EVER FIXED! The sales person plays little tricks like standing you up in the morning, then will show up in the afternoon after you've gone. I caught him off guard one day and he once again played his stupid tricks. THIS ENTIRE DEALERSHIP IS A SCAM. THEY HAVE THE WORST SERVICE ON THE FACE OF THIS PLANET.

This place will promise you the world before sign the contract but will not deliver on the promises. Jean who is the financial/loan officer have sold me a warranty....he keep on saying 7 years/100,000 or 84 months/100,000 miles bumper to… bumper coverage for the extended warranty he asked us to buy.....I just recieve the Acura Care Card in the mail the other day and was shocked to find out that Jean trick me by making me believe that I was buying a 7 year/100,00 miles coverage while in fact he never mentioned that since the car is 2008, and I bought the vehicle last month.....the 7 years was actually from the day the car was first serviced that was 2008. He never once mentioned that my coverage will end in 4 years. NOT 7 years that he kept mentioning before we signed the contract....[violative content deleted] Another issue with the dealership is that Camillo when he was selling the car we have mentioned the scratches in the body, a dent in the right fender and a small chip in the same area....he said it will ALL BE TAKEN CARE. But once the contract was signed...he stared saying that it was just the bumpers we agreed on and on the fender dent he will call me and send a guy in my house to fix it!!!! Never got a call and every time you call them the call is being transfer and he doesn't return calls!!!!! Read all the complaints and Warning before you deal with this people!!!!!

Avoid these people at ALL COSTS. They're running a "bait & switch" scam. I originally found these people on [HTML removed]. They were selling a 2007 Tahoe. I called about it and was told that it was still available and that I should setup… an appt to go see it. I setup the appt and had several conversations with Sales personnel via txt. I informed them that I would be buying the truck out-right (no financing needed). I left my house first thing Sunday morning with cash (mind you I live in Edison, NJ) to head to Queens to pick up the truck. I get there only to be told that they sold the truck the night before. I guess since I wouldn't finance the truck, they wouldn't get a kick-back from the Bank, so it wasn't worth it for them to sell it to me. Here's where things get interesting!!!!! Just for the sake of trying, I contacted the dealership again, providing them with a different name, number and email address and inquired about the truck and that I would be FINANCING it. What do you know - they said that they still have it and will have it available for me to see today@2pm. So, just to be clear, on Saturday 11/10 you sold the truck but on Tuesday 11/13 you still have the truck for sale? I checked the listing from [HTML removed] as well as the listing on their personal site [HTML removed] and the VIN numbers are the same. I had my cousin go to the Dealership to look at the truck and what do you know - they just sold the truck (again). But they were quick to try to sell him an Acura as an alternative to the Tahoe he/I was originally looking for. So, let's recap - on Saturday 11/10 they sold the truck but on Tuesday 11/13 @ 1:30PM they still have the truck for sale but by 2:00PM they sold the truck (AGAIN)? Right now I'm in the process of documenting all of this so that I can give it to the Better Business Bureau and the local municipality to seek legal actions. Last I checked - bait and switch was against the law. Beware of these people. Don't waste your time or your hard earned money.

I went to PARAGON ACURA 56-02 Northern BLVD this dealer plan to lease a 2012 ACURA RDX. The sales person name is Justin Liu. We sign the lease contract by only knowing the monthly payment price. I paid full amount of the initial payment and… waiting to come second day to sign all the other doucment and pick up the car. Then he helped me by asking a insurance company called me to purchase a car insurance. Actually its provided by a insurance broker. I end up being charged for $1100 broker fee, also payed $1400 for the half year insurance. In the second day I called direct to another insurance company which only pays $500 something for the half year insurance. So I purchased the insurance at this place and canceled the previous insurance. I called the sales person Justin Liu told him I'm not happy about the whole insurance experience. In the afternoon he just called and noticed me my leasing can't be approved by the bank. I have to either paying more down payment upfront or cancel the lease. I have been told yesterday it will have no problem to take this lease and I have a 730 credit score. I thought he must be unhappy about I found out the insurance thing. He must have some deal with this broker to help him get some money in this deal. Now he saw there is no benfit taken so he ask for more downpayment try to take advantage on me. This is my worest experience every. Called 2 insurance company and now have to cancel all of it. Also waste a lot of time by staying at this dealer store. Sit there over 3 hrs and even don't have a cup of water. I will never go to this dealer again. Because they don't do business honestly always want to take something from you. Everything I posted just want more ppl aware of this, so won't get ripped of again. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only victim from this dealer.

No saleman contacted with you when you do internet quote. The front desk just asked you make an appointment and promised they will match offer from other deals. But when you got there, the salesman plays all tricks to increase the price,… and waste a lot of time on going and coming. Never go to this dealer.
