by dsfeatherstone on 06/26/2018My brand new Passat was recalled within a month of buying it, and I've been told that they will have it for a few months. They expect me to keep paying my $500/month car payments while they have my car. The rental car they gave me is 5… years old, and has none of the features that led me to buy my new car. This is robbery to expect someone to pay $500 a month for a car that they don't even have. After reaching out to them and playing phone tag for weeks, they've said that they aren't willing to do anything to help me.Used car + dead battery
by jeffreyb5 on 07/23/2015Very disappointed in our used car purchase at Volkswagen of South Charlotte, I will not be going back nor will I be recommending this dealership to anyone I know. The battery on the car was bad for starters, and when I called to inquire… about it, they just kept telling me they would call back and never did. On the second day the vehicle would not even start, so I took it to get the battery tested. The tester at the auto shop said the battery was bad, and had been for a while, so they obviously did not replace it and/or test it. Also the mechanic stated that the dealership was mostly likely not answering or calling back because they knew if they waited a day longer we would not be able to bring the car back. I do not know if NC has a rescission law (depends on who you talk to it seems) but lo and behold, they would finally talk to me after the three day period. There answer was they would not replace the battery since they did not 'make enough money' on the sale of the car to us. I understand that used cars are mostly 'as-is,' but come on! They knew the battery was bad and since they did not make enough money on us, they will not even come to the table to make this right. I asked to speak to the used car manager, and the first answer I got was he is too busy buying cars on an auction site to talk to you. When I finally convinced them to transfer me, the sales manager was not even interested in the conversation. He stated that he would get back to me personally (presumable after his used car action was done), but 20 minutes later he had the sales man call me back and reiterate that they cannot do anything because they did not 'make enough money on the deal.' The buying experience was not the best either. They advertised the car for one price, and when we went in to test drive and draw up the paperwork they tried adding on over $2,200. Typical used car sales tactics I know, but it was the way they tried sneaking it in that irked me. They wouldn't have even told my wife that amount before finalizing everything, I specifically had to tell the sales man 'Moe' to stop and get the final price and bring it back to us on paper. Even then, he hesitated and made it seem like we were inconveniencing him by asking for the totals. If you want to deal with shady salesmen maneuvers from dealer, well this is the place for you it seems. Even more unfortunate is the fact that the dealership seemed to have better than average reviews, guess the joke is on us.Best Dealership In Charlotte Area

Paperwork all ready to go when we arrived and finance had us out the door in half the time as… normal. There was an alignment issue on one of the cars from the factory. The dealership got us squared away quickly at no cost.Thanks for the great review and the five stars! Were happy to hear that we were able to be so accommodating and were able to get you in and out of our dealership quickly. Ralph Blum and Clovis Brussi made the entire process quite simple. They were honest and courteous… from the beginning until the end. My initial contact was via the internet, and Michael McM responded very quickly with an offer that certainly got my immediate… attention. I later visited the dealership where Michael had two cars pulled out for me to compare. He of course asked me to buy once I seemed to have decided, but did not pressure me in any way when I decided to "wait another day" to get things lined up. All aspects of the buying experience were conducted very quickly and professionally, Michael made sure that I was familiar with the car but was never overbearing. I'm loving my new Jetta TDI Sportwagon! Call Michael and get you one!Knowledgeable, personable and not pushy sales people
by BamaBill on 08/25/2014I had done some research on-line for different new cars and I just wanted to visit showrooms to see vehicles in person. I never expected to spend 4+ hours with the sales person and drive away with a certified pre-owned car. I was able to… save 17% by getting a 10 month old "VW executive driven" used car with 10,500 miles. This is the average to expect as soon as you drive a new car off the dealer's lot. This opportunity is rare so I jumped on it, and you should too if you get the chance. Another plus for the "VW certified pre-owned" program, is that they are (currently) the only car company that offers a complete 2 year extended warranty that starts after the original factory warranty runs out. In my case, I have a slightly used car with a warranty period and mileage that exceeds the one that originally came with the car! The sales person knew that I was primarily interested in hybrid technology, but also introduced me to the concept fuel eoconomy from a diesel engine. I was impressed, but was encouraged to get the hybrid since my hilly, short trip, city driving was better suited for the hybrid. They had newer, more expensive diesels on the lot, which tells me the salesperson was truely looking out for me and not their wallet. I have never enjoyed car sales people, but this experience was enjoyable. I was also happy to see a military veteran being gainfully employed. All of this helps explain why VW of South Charlotte is one of the highest ranked dealers for sales and service in "North America" as of 2014.WeÂre glad to hear that you enjoyed your experience with us here at Volkswagen of South Charlotte and are thrilled to hear that you were pleased with our prices and our extended warranty on certified pre-owned vehicles. Dishonest and Disorganized
by bokatok on 01/19/2009I purchased a 2008 Passat from this dealership about 6 months ago. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. They misled me about the history of the vehicle (best to ask for a CarFax). I was told I was purchasing the "manager's"… car. In reality they were selling me a previous Enterprise rental car. There were small scratches on the exterior of the vehicle that they promised to fix, in writing. When I picked the car up from the "scratch repairs" it was as if nothing had been done at all. The bumper had a terrible scratch that was to be fixed, to this day that scratch is still there. After setting up a meeting with their GM (because I filed a BBB complaint due to their dishonest behavior) I was advised that the bumper would be completely replaced, just to make me happy, I reiterate, the scratch is still on the bumper. While in the meeting with the GM they were replacing one of the pulls on my back window shade, it was missing. I could have replaced this myself given the replacement part, they replaced the wrong one, (I would have assumed that impossible myself but their level of ignorance caught me off guard). That piece is still missing to this day. They gave me some VW gear as a peace offering. I asked them to order a large hoodie for me, they had me drive all the way there to pick up the XXL one that they ordered. The list goes on and on. You should be able to find the full breakdown of my complaint on the BBB site if you are interested. I am actually driving all the way to [another dealership] to avoid these people. Take my advice and do the same.Great guys

He simply showed me the car and asked me what my needs were. Lied to.
by dbrockner on 06/07/2013updated 04/25/2025I made the mistake of trading my Lexus SC 430 for a 2008 Eos. First of all I was told by Mark C, the General Manager that my car, Immaculate 2004 SC 430 didn't " Excite Him" and he couldn't give me much on a trade because he would have to… wholesale the car out. The very next day I drove past the dealership and my traded Lexus was detailed, out in front with a price tag of 6000 dollars more than what they gave me on the trade. I knew then that I was scammed. Not to mention that the CPO I purchased needed brakes within 500 miles of this deal ad I had to pay for them. They obviously have there own definition of CPO certified pre owned. I will never buy a VW ever again.Customer satisfaction is our highest priority here at Volkswagen of South Charlotte. We would never want one of our customers to feel that they had been treated unfairly. I would appreciate it if you would contact me directly at 704-552-6500 to review your situation. Then we went back to finalize the loan paper work with a "finance" guy. He asked up if we wanted a bunch of extras that the dealership tries to sell… you, that are basically pure profit to them. We politely declined them all. He informed us that they had a "special" the day we were there and that the fabric and finish protectant was "free". However, we discovered on the loan document down at the bottom under "other" they added $499.99 into our loan. When we asked what that was he said it was for the fabric and finish protectant that was supposed to be free! He took it off and it reduced our payment by $8 per month. Read everything and watch them and all car dealers like a hawk. Otherwise our experience was good and we feel we gota good price and deal.Thank you for your feedback. We value our relationships with our customers and their experience with our dealership and staff at every point in the process. We do not take your concerns lightly and will look into this matter.

Honestly, nothing spectacular

You'd probably like to think, something makes you spectacular; but you're not. You'd probably like to think Volkswagens are great… cars, but they're not. I know my Golf is going to have problems; all cars do. But I've owned 6 VW's and none of them have been too onerous to own. I could have bought a Golf from anybody else and been just as happy. Sadly, I knew I was going to buy a Golf and it didn't matter to me, if I bought it from you or from a bum on the street. Nothing differentiates you from the 100's of other dealers (VW or otherwise.) I've actually bought a car from you before, and I don't think you ripped me off too badly before, so I felt somewhat safe dealing with you again. Face it; nobody likes buying a new ____ (insert any product class). We don't like playing games in life. I'd rather have a root canal, in a hot, dark, smelly prison cell, with Osama Bin Laden as my dentist, than to have to buy another new car... from you or anybody else for that matter. But alas, some things in life, I'll just have to do - like dying and paying taxes. In that respect, dealing with you guys was not abhorrent - for which I am grateful. I am unperturbed... ambivalent even... which is probably the best you can hope for, given my experiences with other dealers.Thank you for taking the time to write to us and tell us about your experience and for your repeat business. A different experience

I entered the facility with the intention of getting some information on the Passat; however, after walking through the small yet… progressive, customer-centric facility; meeting with Mazen T, a seasoned veteran of the automotive industry; and looking into the service bays I closed a deal on a new car. There were no high pressure sales techniques;only answers to the questions I posed. Spiros was extremely knowledgeable on the vehicle and on German engineering overall. He was very personable and made my first car buying… experience very comfortable and enjoyable. I was able to tell Spiros exactly what I wanted from a car and he was able to give me exactly that; I felt no pressure from him at all, which made me feel very at ease. My sister and I have now both purchased cars from VW of South Charlotte and I know we will return again. I was greeted by Robbie C, the most professional automobile… salesperson I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I did let him know upfront that I wanted information without all the personal questions being asked before any information would be given to me. he respectfully honored my request and answered all questions promptly and professionally, treating me exactly as I had requested. I also told him I was not going to purchase the vehicle that day. he did ask me to buy before I left, but with the way he treated me during our time together, I could not have expected anything less. after all, that is his job. when i decide to purchase my next automobile, i will not consider dealing with anyone else but mr. c. thank you for the best experience i have ever had at an automobile dealership.Thank you for the great feedback!
