Nice but beware

He was ok but his mind was elsewhere. the first problem was my trade-in quote from Mohamed was 16,000 I refused. Four appraisers had my vehicle in the low… 20's that meant nothing to Sloane so they gave me 15,000! The trade-in was a 2014 Toyota access cab 4x2 with 387 miles on it. 15,000 come on really. Why deal with Edmunds-KBB/Black--NADA, just ask Sloane's and save time.Worst Car Buying Experience Ever!

An an internet search of certified trucks within 150 mi with the color / features we wanted located a truck at Sloane Toyota of Devon. We negotiated the price and financing rate, put down a deposit by… credit card and set up an appointment to complete the transaction. The sales manager verified that the truck was in excellent condition before we committed to make the 2 1/2 hr. drive to the dealer. Upon arriving at the dealership, the salesman told us that he was having the car cleaned for us so we would have to wait to see it. We asked why this wasn't already done as we had an appointment, but the salesman wanted to push ahead and get our credit information and complete the sale. When he got to the price and signing the paperwork, we stopped the process as we hadn't even seen the car yet. 30 minutes later the car showed up, we first started worrying about the condition because the headlamp lenses were so scratched that they would not make it through a safety inspection. Entering the truck, the instrument panel was difficult to read because is was covered with dust, the upholstery on the seats and doors had black oily smudges and the dashboard had been burned near the air vent. If this was what the vehicle looked like when the salesman had it cleaned up, what other problems could be hiding? The test drive was only 5 minutes long on 25 mph neighborhood streets because the salesman was trying to juggle 4 different sales at once. We both wanted to go on the test drive, but my wife stayed behind because she was concerned about the salesman leaving our credit information and social security numbers unprotected on his desk. When we discussed this with him and about all of the people that were around his desk that could have seen our information, he attacked us about problems occurring in customer's homes. Upon returning from the test drive the salesman wanted to rush back to finish the sale, but I asked to look under the hood before we went back inside. It was obvious that during the 75 days that the truck had been in inventory at Sloane, that this was the first time that anyone had looked under the hood of this "Certified Toyota". It looked like someone had been cooking their dinner in the engine bay as there were large chunks of food baked onto the chassis, looked like soft pretzel or hot dog bun. Then I asked the salesman about the pool of oil covering the skid plate and he reached in and pulled out a juice can full of oily liquid that was sitting in the engine bay. When we tried to discuss our concerns about the vehicle and how we were being treated, the salesman continually interrupted us and yelled at us about how we needed to trust him and the dealership. When we told the sales manager that we had traveled 2 1/2 hours to the dealership based upon his word that the vehicle was in excellent condition and that was clearly not the case, he was equally unapologetic, "It is what it is and we're not making any changes!". This was a completely different experience from that last time I bought a certified car. The other car company went out of their way to make sure that the vehicle was immaculate and that any mechanical or condition issues were repaired to our satisfaction. We came to Sloane's looking for a positive experience and ready to purchase a new vehicle. But being lied to, yelled at and abused is not the way we choose to do business or the kind of company that we choose do business with. We drove away from Sloane Toyota of Devon without a new vehicle.Great Experience

I have purchased cars elsewhere for different reasons but he is really my go to guy… over the years for family transportation. As someone told me on my first purchase, Mohamed is the man that makes it happen. His after-sale follow up, in taking care of additional needs is exceptional. Tom C. was helpful in working out the financial details. He also presented additional options in a way that made me see the benefits of buying some of these offerings. Good salesmanship for a finance guy. I only say that as a sales professional, who knows that accounting and sales are two different disciplines. He works well in both worlds. I've spoken to or went to every car dealer in the area and out of the area as far as 2 states away. I was even flat out lied to by a… local dealership just to get me away from another dealership who liked to play pressure games. I was exhausted and annoyed when I went on my lunch break and Mohamed greeted me. I told him what I wanted, explained I didn't have much time today, and just needed a yes or a no. He told me yes, relax, and have faith in him. While initially this was an exhausting experience, I'm glad I went through it because it made me realize what an honest hardworking person he is. Also, the financing process was by far the easiest I've ever went through as far as them having everything together. There was also no pressure tactics at the end and it was a breeze. Sorry, I forgot their finance guys name but he's been there 30 years and he streamlined the process. Too many car sales people look at you as a commission or a check and forget that a long term trusting relationship is for more valuable.Claudine, we're glad to hear of your wonderful experience with us! one of the worst dealer
by esspee on 07/21/2011updated 04/25/2025Not sure why the sales people are not trained to deal with the prospect customers. They think they are very smart and others are fools. Here is list of grievances I have and experienced: 1. The Internet sales guy sends you a quote through… email and when you try to contact them over phone, he is never interested to take your call and feels is doing a favor by talking to you. 2. I asked to send a shuttle since I didnt have a car to go the dealer. He initially says he would send one and when you call again, he says he doesnot have any car available to send. FYI, the dealer was just 2 miles away from my work. 3. After taking appointment I went to the dealer by renting a car. The gentleman was very busy to come and meet me in person. The receipnist asked someone else to help me to show the cars. 4. When they realized that I am new to the country, they were tried to exploit the situation and quoted 18% APR !!. All this happened on the last week of December 2010 when any dealer would try to make as many as sales they could. All these bad experience not only stopped me in going to the dealer but even Toyota. I ultimately went for Honda Civic which I got in a day from Mainline Honda, Ardmore, PA.Mohamed is the Epitome of Ethical!!

He did not sit at his desk and "size me up" through the windows as I approached-an experience that… I've had previously when trying to buy cars. I am a lone female and have been dreading this experience for months. Although I consider myself somewhat intelligent, I also feel that I am mechanically-challenged and vulnerable at car dealerships. This was the first time that I have ever felt respected, listened to, and treated like someone with a brain at a dealership. Mohamed stayed within my budget and provided excellent car choices. He valued my time and did not torture me with the typical car dealer games and "double-talk". He was very genuine, ethical, and honest about my options. When it was time to do the paperwork, everything was thoroughly and patiently explained. When it was time to take my car home, Mohamed had the gas tank filled and had service drive my new car to my home. Mohamed is now my car salesperson for life and I would highly recommend him and his dealership. Because of my sales experience, I will definitely be using the service department. The whole experience was unbelievably positive and painless! I am still pinching myself because I can't believe that it wasn't a dream.Wow, what a great review! It was so refreshing to work with a professional who holds the same core values I do. Mohamed was honest… direct and clearly hard working. I am not made of money and don't get a lot of free time with a hectic work schedule so it goes a long way with me when someone demonstrates that they value my time and me as a customer. Mohamed had no fewer then 4 customers at a time he was assisting when I went to the dealership on Saturday and at no point did I feel I was getting ignored. I will not do business with any person or company that doesn't understand the importance of good customer service. Good service starts with the employees answering the phones,… and they could not have been any nicer. There were a number of dealers that didn't even answer my initial inquiry with a return phone call. If you can't return a phone call when i am calling you to give you my business, you don't get my business. I started my negotiations for a new Tacoma over the phone with sales person Bill S. He was genuinely friendly, was knowledgeable about the product he was selling, (unlike a lot of part timers), and worked hard to get me a deal that i was satisfied with. Their gain, other dealers loss, and all it took was people knowing how to treat a customer well from start to finish and a competitive price. He found the perfect car for me and proceeded to handle the entire purchasing process for me… to minimize how much time I'd have to take off from work.
