Great New Truck Less than Impressive Customer Service

We bought a truck over the weekend at Sands Ford.
It should have been an indication after we first got there and we were waiting. One of the sales associates received a call, put the customer on hold and called over to one of the sales… managers and said “your favorite customer is on the phone and wants to talk to you”. The sales manager said tell him I’m busy and that’s exactly what the associate did. Told the customer he was “busy helping other customers”, which was a lie because the place was empty. So if you called about 1:15pm on Saturday 11/23, that’s what happened.
The sales manager Derek was another less than impressive figure at the dealership. Didn’t address my fiancé when going over numbers, which she wasn’t too happy about and I don’t blame her. Also, once the paperwork was done, we had asked about a second key a couple times, but everyone kept telling us Derek is the one that can help and they’ll talk to him. We kept getting passed off until the end as we were leaving we got to ask Derek this time. He got aggravated and said there’s nothing he can do. The car got traded with one key and that’s what you get. We followed up and asked if they could help out and get a key? Derek said you have to go to your local ford dealer. I ask “isn’t this a Ford dealer”. Derek, very red faced by this point, says I don’t have money in every deal to get keys for every car we get. We just don’t have the money in it. Realizing that he just didn’t want to be bothered with it, we left. If I would have had to pay for it, whatever. I just wanted to find out the avenue to get one. Derek was a piece of work.
I’ve been a Ford guy for a while and have a few Ford vehicles. It seems this trend is not isolated when going to a Ford dealer. If you have the choice and are looking to buy, I would avoid this place.
The positive of the experience was that the finance lady was great. Very friendly and made that part of the process extremely easy.
The sales team should take notes from her on customer service.
Ian was good. No complaints there, but if I was that dealership, I would take a hard look at those sales managers. Derek should not be in front of customers.

by Evan Marks on 03/10/2021Having our 2020 fusion for 10 months, the battery was dead after using it 2 days prior. Sands got the car in the next day to evaluate it. The battery and charging system checked okay. There was no parasitic draw and no technical… bulletins about a known problem. I do not think that I should have been charged for the service, since the problem was not fixed and is sure to happen again. I was told to talk to someone at Ford about the problem. Not my responsibility.Poor Service

They waited until the very end to advise there was only one key (2016 vehicle with under 10,000 miles) and that we were on our own for a spare. They also made a mistake on the title for the trade… in. We had to do the leg work to correct and incur expense for a duplicate title for which they promised to reimburse us. 4.5 months later and still no check despite numerous follow up requests. We have really gotten the run around.Shady sales gimmicks
by Rrpracr on 10/10/2015Upon arriving at the dealership i thought I had all the numbers figures out. They then tell me that the price on the internet isn't the actual price. And That they only do that to get the customer in the sales office . (I'd say that's a… bit Shady). They then show me, in what I call fine print, that it only applies to a small percentage of people. So after I drove 40 miles for what I thought was a good deal . I then had to drive home in disappointment because the dealer likes to play games. Also on cars .com they said the vehicle I was going to purchase has a Special Deal ..$2000 off the purchase price or 0 Apr for 60 months.. Needless to say that was not true as well, and they had the nerve to say "well that's cars.coms fault".. Definitely do not recommend this dealer to anyone.. Still not sure how they stayed in business doing shenanigans like this ... Matthew coyleFantastic DealerShip

by fastfred94 on 01/26/2013updated 04/25/2025Sands had the exact vehicle I was looking for, the deal was fair, not exceptional (said they couldn't compete with the "big' dealers). The salesmen were quite personable but it took a few hours to get it done, they couldn't give me a… bedliner for my $30,000 truck but my first oil change is free. Just thought there would be more perks with the experience. Nice truck though.JT
