  • Vehicle Purchase

    5 out of 5 starsby Bkjones4235 on 11/29/2023

Ed and Abby at Autonation were great to work with. We had been looking for a new 4Runner for a couple of months and both of them were clear and upfront on the vehicle price and beat every dealer between San Antonio, Houston, and Austin. They were very fair on the trade in price as well. Would highly recommend purchasing a vehicle from them.
    • Hi, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! We appreciate your recommendation of AutoNation Toyota South Austin and we hope to be of service again in the future.

4 out of 5 starsby HP and wife on 11/30/2023

We went through a couple dealer around Austin and looked for a new Toyota RAV4 They told us that they don't have it in stock if we want to buy it we have to wait at least 2 weeks and the price is kind of high compared to the RAV4 we bought from Autonation

  • They do a great job

5 out of 5 starsby MaPaesM on 11/27/2023

I always take my car to Autonation and I feel they are fair and honest. Never had any issues. Of course toyota dealerships are expensive, but the service has been great.

  • New RAV4 LE Hybrid

5 out of 5 starsby CowboyGuy on 11/26/2023

Salespeople and finance people were very friendly and helpful. I am a very skeptical buyer; especially when it comes to auto dealers. Surprisingly, I believed all our dealings were fair and honest.
    • Hi, we are pleased to hear you had such a positive experience with us! As one of our valued customers, we want to sincerely thank you for your business and we hope to see you here again down the road!

  • Service Rep Looks Up "Wrong" Part Number, Gives Differing Labor Estimates

1 out of 5 starsby nbstosi on 11/25/2023

I brought my 2007 Camry Hybrid in because it was flashing check engine light and VCS and seemed to have stalled several times. I drop it off and later get a phone call from my service tech, Tony Sabatino, telling me that the brake actuator needs to be replaced. He tells me unfortunately the part is on back order indefinitely. I ask him, “What would cause the actuator to fail?” He replies, “Well, there’s no rhyme or reason to it.” (Remember that…) I begin thinking I’ll probably need to get a new car and ask him to send me the contact information for a salesman and tell him I’ll get back to him on what I’m going to do. I decide to try to find the part myself. Looking online I found # 44050-30660 Brake Actuator that matched the make/model of my car and found a dealership that had it. I call Tony back and as soon as I tell him I found the part he immediately begins acting very weird. All of a sudden his computer isn’t working, he can’t get into the system, and he can’t find the part that was needed for my repair and that he needs to call me back. I tell him I’ll hold, and after doing some more tap dancing he tells me I need # 47050-04120 Cylinder Assembly Brake. I tell him to transfer me to the manager, Greg, who I then explain my issues to and tell him I’m just trying to figure out what part I need for my car’s repair. I get a call back from both Greg/Tony telling me that the backorder issue was due to the fact that they were looking up a (incorrect) superseded part number and that the correct part is # 04003-44830 (also a Brake Actuator). Tony tells me that the labor will be 2-3 hours and that the part will arrive the next day. I tell him to order the part and hang up, but decide to call back to get a full estimate. This time Tony tells me it’s actually going to be 4 hours. I end up calling Greg, the manager back and ask him why his service tech isn’t able to give me a proper estimate for labor when it’s all supposed to be standardized. I also lay in to him about the fact that I was about to begin looking into buying a new car because of his service tech’s mistake. He says that it’s the fault of the parts department, not his service tech, but to his credit he is very apologetic and gives me the estimate for labor ($675). I know they charge somewhere around $220/hr. I went in this morning to pick it up and walked up to a random service tech and asked them if they could help me check out. I started to ask him about how they know what parts are needed for a vehicle and if he can show me something verifying the part that was put on my car was in fact the part that was needed for my vehicle. He starts to do that, but another service tech interjects. I tell him I’m just asking because a mistake had already been made and that I just want to verify, because what I was able to find online is different than what they ordered and what was quoted to me by a different dealership. He blows me off and tells me that you can’t look up parts yourself because you need to know the VIN number. I end up checking out and leaving. Still bothered by what had happened, I decide to check and see if there had been any recalls for parts on my car. Sure enough, back in 2014 there was a recall (POL 14-04) for brake actuators that my vehicle’s VIN was covered under. As far as I can tell, the superseded part number was the one they had ordered for my car, and the new part number was the one I had found online. This makes their argument that the reason they had thought the part was on backorder was due to a superseded part number to not make any sense. I’m also shocked that the fact that the part had been recalled was never at any point brought up to me. I know I wouldn’t be covered under the warranty anymore, but every time I’ve taken my car in to a dealership for servicing they have always mentioned if there were recalls on parts for my car. From the Warranty Bulletin labor time to replace the actuator was supposed to be 2.3 hours and I was charged $675.

  • Horrible customer service

1 out of 5 starsby Shelbys on 11/21/2023

After an oil change I noticed my car sounded like it had an exhaust leak. I called and was told my service advisor would call me back. Nothing. I called the next day and left a voice-mail with them. Nothing. Called a third time and finally spoke w them. He said bring it back in a tech would look at it. Be there before six. I showed up little before 5. Was told by another service advisor all techs leave at 5 and sorry for the miss information. My car still sounds like crap and I'll never take my two Toyotas back.
    • Hi Shelbys, we are deeply disappointed by your experience at AutoNation Toyota South Austin. If you'd be willing though, our General Manager would love to talk with you and rectify these issues. You can contact the GM at (512) 518-6900 -- we hope to hear from you soon.

  • Bad service from sales man and his manager

1 out of 5 starsby Arnold Ntaga on 11/16/2023

The worst dealership you could ever get a car from. The sales man lied to me and sold me a car that had and accident and they refused to fix the sensors and wheel bearing as well. They sold me a mess. Really disappointed would never recommend anyone.

5 out of 5 starsby Katy Nail on 11/09/2023

  • I specifically wrote on my appointment I was there for my 5k oil change

    1 out of 5 starsby David G on 11/03/2023

I took my truck in for the first 5k service. I SPECIFICALLY wrote on my appointment that I was there for an oil change, if it was not included I would have paid for it. VERY upset that I now have to waste more of my time to go to a different dealer that will do what I ask for.

  • Service

4 out of 5 starsby Highlander on 11/03/2023

I approved cabin filter and don’t think it was done as I didn’t see it on my receipt. Edmund must be new, compared to my service at this location, he was better than the others I have had. He kept me in the loop, communicated with me, actually got my recall done when others have always said, “machine down, will take a couple of hours”, that can’t be true as I was a service adviser as well. The paperwork took a little long to complete but if he’s new then I’m sure he will get better. For this location; why are ALL the advisers that are inside STILL take minutes to come outside to meet your customer after the Porter has merely said their spiel ? Thanks Edmund for servicing my car, I would have rated super low had it been another adviser.
    • Hi, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Drive safe, and we'll see you on the road.

  • Extremely bad problems with the dealership

1 out of 5 starsby rosesylace on 11/03/2023

    1. Am not sure if it was the manager, the owner, or the assistant manager told us that all prices were fixed. Yet we'd been shopping in the area where we live and up north and this same policy did not apply at those dealerships! 2. During the paperwork process I had to lend the saleslady my driver's license. Then the license went missing for about 2 hours to my recollection. If I had not been stubborn about not leaving the dealership, I would guess that my license could have ended up with an illegal or on the way to Mexico that same day. The manager and the sales lady have two completely different explanations for its disappearance. What the sales lady didn't know is that I had worked with copy machines off and on for over 40 years. I rejected her explanation. 3. I had to go to the financial officer more than once to resign paperwork. The service department had recorded the mileage incorrectly. 4. The service warranty was advertised in LARGE letters for seven years. That was not what was given on my contract. False adverstising! 5. We checked the tires before we bought the vehicle. We both knew they were in poor shape. I asked for new tires and the manager laughed it off as a joke. It was not a joke that within the week two tires blew. AND this supposedly passed state inspection? I'm concerned about that inspection. 6. Our plates were to be mailed to us because of the distance where we lived. I had to call about the plates and someone there told me that the sales people rarely or never actually contact them beforehand with that information. 7. I received an email from the service lady asking if we had any questions. I asked a question. She didn't bother looking at my email then. In fact it wasn't until she asked me to recommend her to my friends that I told her no way and one of the reasons was that she never opened nor answered my first email! 8. We still haven't received the title. I knew it was supposed to be mailed by the state but this late??? I am really concerned. 9. There is more, but I just wanted to say that if there was a no star rating, this dealership would have been given a no-star by us.

  • Another wasted morning

1 out of 5 starsby Ruserious on 10/27/2023

Einstein once said "stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results." I arrived at 6:45 for a 7:00 a.m. appointment. I was second in line for an oil change and inspection. Even after telling the technician that I had an important appointment, the service took 2 hours and 17 minutes. I should have known, after my last service, which also took an inordinately long time, that I should not have expected anything other than what appears to be a totally dysfunctional system. I will NEVER return to this site, and advise others to approach with caution. Cost of oil change and air filter was exorbitant. I have purchased three vehicles from this dealership, but shall not do so again.
    • Hi, we are deeply disappointed by your experience at AutoNation Toyota South Austin. We care about all our customers and wish to restore your good faith in our dealership. If you'd be willing, our General Manager would like to speak with you at (512) 518-6900 to discuss ways to improve your experience with our dealership moving forward. • 50k mile inspection

5 out of 5 starsby The Dizz on 10/26/2023

It was great, the service person was accommodating and I was able to get my state inspection done at the same time. He also did not try to charge me for services I did not need, while letting me know issues I would need to take care of later.
    • Hi, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! We're always here to provide exceptional service at a great value -- we hope you'll consider us again in the future!

  • Outstanding experience at AutoNation

5 out of 5 starsby Drewmyc on 10/25/2023

After a brief call to explain my issue, Tony sent me a text to explain some options. I communicated with him almost exclusively through text which was very convenient. Tony was highly communicative and always responded very quickly. My service experience was equally as seamless. I dropped off the car and he knew exactly who I was and why I was there so I didn’t have to waste time sticking around to explaining anything. My windshield was replaced same day and I was out the door without a hiccup. Highly recommend Autonation for your servicing needs.

1 out of 5 starsby Kristina on 10/23/2023

Paid to have my cabin filter replaced in July & was sent a picture of it while I was waiting for my service to be completed that it needed to be replaced. Clearly I paid for it to be done and it wasn’t.
