David McDavid is THE place to get a Honda
by mtdscomm on 06/19/2014I visited various other dealerships and I found that David McDavid provided the friendliest atmosphere and most professional staff. They have great sales people like Jesse G. that made the sales process very easy. Jesse also offered me a… great deal on my trade-in to reduce my purchase price as much as possible. I highly recommend Jesse G. at David McDavid.Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. I am so happy to hear you received such great service from Jesse Garrett. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to earn your business. Please let us know when we may be of assistance to you again in the future. Best, Sonia Heredia, General Manager
Excellent Sales Experience
by lynne56 on 09/21/2010I live in Houston but flew to Dallas to buy my new car, courtesy of the sales manager, Alan Cooper. Salesman Mo picked me up at the airport and drove me to the dealership. Alan had been straightforward on price via emails, and was able to… beat any offer I received here in Houston, also adding a bunch of extras to the car. Because no one in Houston would be straight with me, lying to me about price and/or trying to charge extra fees, I decided to fly to Dallas to buy my car. I got the red carpet treatment from Mo, Alan, and James in finance, and no one tried to talk me into anything extra that I didn't want. I learned a lot this time that I will employ every time I buy a car: Go to Edmunds.com and find out the "True Market Value" of your car so you know what you should pay. Make an appointment with the sales manager before coming in, get the offer in writing with all the details of the car including extras, and also get the drive-out price to be sure that no extra "dealer fees" are tacked on. Find out how long the offer is good (get it in writing), then shop around. According to Alan, they can beat all other offers b/c they sell more cars than any other dealership in Texas. So, go to them last with your other written offers, and I betcha they'll beat it. :)Clearly this is written by the dealership....clearly...
Used Car Staff Was Great - Avoid the Finance Department
by rengo on 05/13/2010We purchased a 2008 CRV EX-L with nav for around $21K. This occurred around the end of last year. Based on KBB, Edmunds and others, it was attractively priced. The sales staff was most helpful. Respectful, knowledgeable, responsive without… being aggressive. I drove the car, liked it, went home to think about it without any parting grief, came back the next day to buy it, with my wife and found a fairly good sized ding in the body. The used car sales manager immediately addressed the issue, explained that it was probably grazed in the lot and said he would personally see to it that the roving touch up guy would take care of it. It happened just as he said it would. Something noteworthy happened when we attempted to finance the car. A long drawn out, high pressure, insulting experience with the finance mgr. which included a solicitation to purchase vitamin supplements from his wife's side business and the accusation that I was placing in physical jeopardy my daughter, (for whom the car was purchased) by not buying his extended warranty. I had assert myself. "We either stop talking about your extended service offer or I get up and go down the street and buy this car from another dealer, which I have already seen." We ended up paying cash for the car. I'm an older guy. This isn't my first rodeo. I feel sympathy for those less experienced, perhaps trusting people like him, who instead are subjected to that kind of abuse and manipulation. It almost killed the deal, frustrating the well meaning efforts of the sales staff.McDavid is a [violative content deleted]
by klevans69 on 10/18/2008Requested internet quote of vehicle, and agreed to price before coming in. Once on site, dealer did not have the vehicle selection. Dealer adds thousands of dollars in add-ons to MSRP and additional profit for "in" vehicles. In… addition, don't try a trade as they valued my vehicle at 20% BELOW wholesale value. This dealer robbed me of three hours of my life which I will never get back. They are unethical in their approach, and are looking to prey on buyers who do not know how to buy a car.STAY AWAY It's a JOKE
by dmcdonald1 on 06/30/2008Went online to see about purchasing a car. Got the Internet salesperson to give me a good quote. Well needless to say I went into the dealership and of course the price jumped through the roof. When I finally stood my ground on the price… two hours later I had a deal. Well this was on a Saturday. I went to pick up the car on Monday I called around 11:30 am to let the salesperson that I would pick the car up at 5:30 well they had just started to clean it. I had to wait for one hour. Once the car was brought to me I went outside to check out my new ride. It had scratches through the clear coat in several spots. Well I asked for the manager and they tried to pull some crap on me. I informed them that I had contacted the bank no to send them a check until I called them back if they did not furnish me a new car. I told them that if I wanted a used car with scratches I would have gone to the used car lot. Well needless to say they choose not to give me another vehicle and voided my contract. So that's they type of customer service that you get at David McDavid in Frisco.Stay away!!
by jwk567 on 06/10/2008You can't believe a word that they say. I dealt with both the new and used car managers. They say pretty things but fail to do them. Both don't tell the truth and fail to get back to you when they claim they will. Stay away. Honda… makes great cars but there are many, many other reputable dealerships to do business with. They are good people, but business is business
by rodrigo_cruz on 01/22/2008Executive resume.Do your homework. You have to do your home work. You have to check edmunds.com and you won't loose money I didn't do it and I ended with a CR-V that cost me $10,000.00 more of what I should have paid, I ended… with $4,000.00 in extended warranty, oil changes and a Lo-Jack and with this I'm paying $6,000.00 more of interest The people in ths dealership will treat you like a king, you will not complain about this, but it is part of their tricks. Also they are loading all their vehicules with $2,000.00 or more of accesories, like the $700 ($699) EPP (Eviromental Proteccion Package) or the $300 ($299) Pin Stripe that they claim to be painted, or the accesories that do not required installation but they will try to charge you the accesory at the MSRP plus the installation fee. they are cleaver, so be very careful. At least I was able to get ride of the accesories, but I had to spent 6 hours in the delarship to get to that point. Those 6 hours save me $2,000.00 in accesories and maybe another $1,000.00 on interest, but if i have spent half of the ime in edmunds.com I would have same a little more :-( I can't complain about the CR-V nor the people in the dealership, but if you don't do your homework even the niciest salesman is going to eat your lunch money. I will buy from them again but with my homework done. They have a great sales people and a great Aftersale Service for the car. by the way, I don't get paid by edmunds.com, it just that they have opened my eyes and I'n really greatful. I wish I have done my homework here, I would have save $10,000.00 at least. DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!!!Good Experience at David McDavid in Frisco
by chigirlintexas on 12/29/2007My husband and I leased a 2008 Civic Si tonight, and it was a good experience. He wasn't sure if he wanted the EX or the Si, so he spent a good deal of time driving both vehicles and getting deals on both of them before finally deciding on… the Si. He got a fair amount for his trade (we had gone to CarMax before coming here, so we already had an idea of what the trade amount would be), and he held out for the monthly payment he wanted. The finance gal was nice, and although we opted only for the minimal coverage (wheels and tires for an extra $2/mo), she was not overly pushy. Our salesman, Jesse, was extremely knowledgeable and very willing to work with us on price. We have had experiences with Bankston dealerships before, and they have never been pleasant. I am surprised by the other review on David McDavid, because we really dislike Bankston and have never had an enjoyable experience with any of their dealerships, including Honda. (The Ford guys are exceptionally bad!) Anyway, in view of how "hot" a commodity the Civics are, we were pleasantly surprised to get one for a very competitive price and not a lot of hassle. We would both recommend this dealership for anyone considering a Honda in the Dallas area. As to the other reviewers comments, I think there are good and bad salesmen in any dealership you go to. It's a crap-shoot when you go in, and you just have to hope you'll encounter a good one. I guess we were lucky at McDavid tonight.Go to Lute Riley instead
by trs422 on 12/20/2007First a little prior service experience: In Feb. of '07 my wife and I took our 97 civic in to David McDavid Honda of Frisco for a routine oil change. We pick it up and stapled to the receipt is a handwritten checklist of things they noticed… on the car. I couldn't even make out what half of the stuff said. Some things were fine, some needed future attention. but since I couldn't read it, I didn't know what was what. Our service rep never bothered to tell us or go over any of it with us, we even called and he never even returned our call. We complain to the customer service rep who called us for a phone survey, and still hear nothing back. Now fast forward to this month (Dec 07) after having another couple of routine oil changes in the months between we take the car in for another routine oil change. The car had no visible oil leak. The service rep calls and says they have found some things that need to be repaired totaling $1000. The oil pan needed to be replaced and also the distributor housing. I'm a reasonable man I said that's fine and agree to the repairs, it is an old car after all. So they make the repairs and I pick up the car and drive it to work in the morning and it's leaking so badly that I can smell burning oil through the vents. I park it at 8:30 and at noon there is a spot of oil the size of a dinner plate. I take it back that evening and the next day they call and say that it was just residual oil that was spilled on the engine during the oil change and that they cleaned it up and it's fine except for a small leak from the rear main seal. A leak so small that I was advised by both the service rep and the technician that it didn't need to be repaired anytime soon. They informed me that in the 5 hours they had the car it had only dripped one drop. The residual oil line that they gave me was total BS. There is no way some spilled oil would leave a large spot over and over. But, rather than argue about that I left it alone and hoped that it was fixed. I pick up the car, drive it home and park it for a couple of days and it's still leaking a pretty good amount. I drive it to work, park it, and it leaves a spot about 7 in in diameter in 4 hours. I call back explain what I noticed and they say that I'll have to have the rear main seal replaced to the tune of about $800, and they were arguing and saying that they told us about this before (see above). But they didn't! The service rep never returned my call in Feb. So, basically the service rep either lied to me by saying the repair was unnecessary or has absolutely no clue what is going on. I take the car in with no visible oil leaks, they perform some repairs, and the car is now leaking A LOT. They keep telling me that all of the sudden the rear main seal is leaking much worse and it's all just a coincidence. I refuse to believe this is a coincidence. They have obviously messed something up but refuse to admit it. The service reps and the service dept managers we absolutely no help and mostly argued with me and couldn't comprehend why I would be suspicious. They haven't even attempted to try to make me happy as a customer or offer any solutions other than charging me around $800 to replace the rear main seal. The only choice that I had left was to call the general manager. (I'll update when I hear back from him). We currently own 2 hondas and live in the Frisco area, but I will happily make the drive to Richardson and take them to Lute Riley Honda. I have nothing but great things to say about my experiences at Lute Riley. David McDavid has lost another customer (with 2 hondas) and I hope others will read this and think twice about going to McDavid for repairs.Stay Away
by clwalker on 10/20/2007I went to this dealership to attempt to buy a 2008 Accord EX-L, 5 speed. The experience was bad from start to finish. The salesperson informed me that they did not have what I wanted on the lot and they did not think they could get it.… They then mysteriously located a suitable vehicle but attempted to charge me approximately $2,000 in assorted "options" that were on this vehicle. This was on top of the MSRP they wanted for the car along with an ridiculously low offer on my trade. When I said I wanted to think about it, I got hit with another salesman who wanted to know what he could do to get me to sign. I advised I was not interested in signing and needed the keys to my car. That took another 20 minutes. A total waste of 2 hours. I went to Bankston Honda in Lewisville and purchased the vehicle that I wanted for the price I wanted along with what I asked for on my trade. Total buying experience was under an hour. My advice is to pass on McDavid and work with Bankston.McDavid Honda Frisco is Awesome!
by Andycast on 05/09/2014updated 04/24/2025If you're looking for a new car and don't want all of the hassle of dealing with the process - then go to McDavid Honda. They're right on 121/Tollway in Frisco - easy to get to. I was welcomed warmly (they weren't in my face) and offered a… beverage. My salesman, Steve O. offered to show me every vehicle I was interested in - which was three. I didn't know much about Hondas, so we test drove a Civic, an Accord and a CR-V. I was shown each of the features from each vehicle and then selected the Accord which is a wonderful sedan. I received a fair offer on my trade in - and got a great lease deal on the car for my daughter. Although they were busy at the end of the month, the purchase went smoothly and everyone I met from the managers to the finance dept were friendly and were cognizant of my time (even made popcorn for their guests!). If you're looking for a new car (even used); go drive a Honda at McDavid. Even if you don't buy; they'll be happy to show you all about the cars. I'll definitely go back when the time comes. Two thumbs up.Andy, Thank you for your feedback. I am so happy to hear of your experience with us went so well while you were shopping for your new car. Steve Oakes was able to show you the type of customer service we hope everyone can experience while at our dealership. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to earn your business. Please let us know when we can be of assistance to you again in the future. Best wishes, Sonia Heredia, General Manager
New Car Purchase - 2013 Honda Accord
by Tommy5423 on 08/21/2013updated 04/24/2025I went to David McDavid Honda with no intention of buying a Honda. I had already decided on a Camry but had extra time to look around. The 2013 Accord was surprisingly quiet (I have test driven earlier model Accords - the road noise always… steered me away from choosing Honda). It is also a smooth driving car. The sales representative, CHRIS T., was friendly and very personable. He was very patient with my questions and the test driving of cars. Mr. T. represents this dealership very well. I am glad I purchased my vehicle here.Terrible Experience
by tday426 on 09/09/2013updated 04/24/2025I had a terrible experience with one of the Internet Sales Manager's...Adam. He was rude and insulting. I was ready to purchase a car that day and he all but accused me of only wanting an estimate on my car. I walked out. I would never… purchase a vehicle from this dealershipPlease accept my sincere apology for the unsatisfactory experience you had recently with our dealership. Efficient, Pleasant and Patient Experience
by vadermom on 08/20/2013updated 04/24/2025Our family needed a larger SUV- we loved the Pilot and needed to narrow down our preferred options. Made an appointment for the same night and Stephen had the vehicles waiting with all the possible info I could have asked for- and… more. Very polite and quick- handled my detailed questions with straight answers and showed me lots of little things not always well known about the Pilot. Joshua was also nice and helpful. They both went above and beyond to provide truly excellent service.Great Buyer experience..
by ejosaco on 09/06/2013updated 04/24/2025Sam S. was my Sales Associate when we visited the dealership. He was very good in providing the details and explained the features of the vehicle I was looking at. In the end, he did a great job in getting me the car that I wanted and gave… me the best price for the model that I purchased. A highly recommended Sales associate and dealership! My Recent Purchase of Certified 2011 CRV-EXL
by MANISHBHARDWAJ on 11/22/2013updated 04/24/2025No surprise! These guys deserve to be #1 volume dealer in US not only Texas! I recently bought a Certified 2011 CRV-EXL and am very much pleased the way Selwyn S. managed this transaction for me. He was very detailed yet with due attention… to all specifics. Specially, I liked his attitude to patiently understand my needs and help me make a good purchase. By the way, I could also get the trade-in value to my expectations. Dear Selwyn, I would like to take just a moment and thank you for an excellent service! THANKS! -MANISHHonda car oil change

by jp128347 on 09/03/2013updated 04/24/2025Robert K. was my sales Associate, he did an excellent job in getting me into the car that i wanted most. He was extremely cooperative with hunting down a car with specific options that i wanted, and providing the most competitive price not… only for the car i purchased, but also for the vehicle i traded.Great experience with Lou B.
by carlwkalb on 08/16/2013updated 04/24/2025Eleven months ago I decided to trade in a car that was already paid for in exchange for one with a lease. Prior to talking with Lou B. I was convinced that my car that I owned cost me less than having a lease. However, when he showed me the… cost of repairs on my vehicle and that I was still driving around in a ten year old car I began to do more research. I found that with a new civic I'd get twice the mileage as I was getting in the old van. So money that I was previously spending on gas was now paying for the car instead! When I went in to look at cars, I assumed we'd just hit the lot and pick something out. Lou sat with me and my wife and listened to our short and long term plans for what cars made the most sense for us. He helped us come up with a strategy to get to that goal and then we looked at cars in the right price range to meet those needs. This overall evaluation was a tremendous benefit to feeling comfortable that we were making a decision that was right for our family. This is the second vehicle that we have bought from David McDavid. I highly recommend that when you go in you ask to speak with Lou B.!Do your research on taxes, fees, and options pricing!!
by oban18 on 12/27/2012updated 04/24/2025I researched and stalked a 2013 Honda Accord V6 for over 2 weeks. DMcD Honda Frisco was one of about 10 dealerships I contacted. 1st time actually at the dealership, I was bait and switched on the contract. I contacted them again through… the internet inquiry to change sales guys, and he ignored what I specifically said I wanted (no options on the car). He repeatedly tried to force a car down my throat that was loaded with options I didn't want and on the lot. This dealership gets an F- for lying and taking advantage of people who blindly buy cars without doing math and reasearch. I bought my Accord in Norman, Ok for almost $1000 less.Great Service from Great People
by maddman627 on 04/14/2013updated 04/24/2025As a recent college graduate , the last thing I wanted was added stress from the car-buying process. Luckily, David McDavid Frisco spared me time and a headache. My salesman, Darren S. had a great personality and empathy for the stressful… in-between period I was going through right after college. In the same day we were able to find a perfect fit for me and my budget and was able to drive off in my new Honda Civic lease. It really is the little things that mean the most in the car-buying process and Darren and the the staff at David McDavid delivered 100 perfect! Thanks again!
