  • No problem with sales

    5 out of 5 starsby rzrbk1 on 07/26/2008

At the end of May 2008, my wife and I were looking for a commuter car due to the rising gas prices. We had gone out to look at the Honda Civic, but after wandering around the Honda dealership for 20 minutes and never being greeted even though several employees walked right past us, we ended up leaving and going to Pat Lobb. When we got there, we were greeted as soon as we got out of our car. The salesman took us inside and talked to us to get an idea of what we were looking for and what features we wanted and the approximate price. Once we were through with that, he suggested 2 cars to look at and went to get the first car. He brought it to the door and all we had to do was get in and do the test drive. When we decided against that one, he had the other one already picked out and asked us what color we wanted to test drive. He then went and got that vehicle and brought it to the door again (notice that we were not required to wander thru the lot trying to find a car we wanted) for us to test drive. After the test drive, we decided that we wanted to think about it before we made a final decision. Since this was the only car in stock in that color, he put it in "safe keeping" for us to make a decision. This was on the Saturday before Memorial Day and they were closed on Sunday. On Monday, we went back and told him that we wanted the car. He brought it around from the back for us and said he would be back in just a few minutes as soon as he got the paperwork started. Our processing time was very quick and we had no problem at all with delays getting the financing and never once did he try to pressure us into buying. I am not sure what was going on with the other people that said they got treated bad....although my experience is 5 months or so after some of them and they might have changed staffing. Overall, we are very pleased with the service from the sales department and will definitely go back to Pat Lobb for our next vehicle!
  • 5-star Dealer

I bought a Prius from Pat Lobb Toyota today, and had a completely different experience than the other reviewers. My husband and I are young, and other dealers treated us like a couple kids trying to buy a car, but the team at Pat Lobb was professional and respectful. We dealt directly with the general manager, and walked away with a great deal we're both pleased with. The team spent over 3 hours working with us, and I couldn't have asked for better service. We will be returning to Pat Lobb for our future purchases!

The sales people at this dealership think they are high and mighty. I was going to trade in a Chevy Silverado RCSB for a Tundra double cab std bed. From the start the sales guy had an attitude pretty much saying the Tundra was the best vehicle out there and all other trucks, including mine weren't worth it. I was originally going to have my credit union do the note, but just to see I had Toyota pull our credit to do some comparison shopping. Now our credit isnt spectacular, but it's not bad either. Toyota came back with 16% for 72 months. Our credit union has 10.45% for 72 months. I asked my salesman "Isn't Toyota in the business to compete?" His reply: "With credit like yours, they don't have to compete." Their best deal was at $510 a month using my credit union. Our budget was $450. I told him this from the beginning. I told him $510 wouldn't cut it, my wife would never go for it. He told me to call my wife to ask. So I called my wife just to appease him, and not surpising she turned it down. I told the salesman this. His reply was "I guess your wife says you are driving the Chevy." I walked out. I went to the Chevy dealer to look at a new Silverado Ext Cab. We nearly had a deal worked out, and was told we would qualify for the 1.9% APR for 72 months. Their bank was closed for the day so we were waiting for final approval yesterday (12/26). The Toyota dealer salesman called me yesterday afternoon and his first remark was "How do you like driving your Chevy?" I told him fine, as I love my truck and didn't think anything negative towards it. His reason for calling was to see if I had budged any. I told him no, $510 a month wasn't going to cut it for a base model Tundra. Plus I told him I wanted more for my trade, as the number they gave me was too low ball. He told me that Chevy inflates their value with rebates. Duh!, Toyota has rebates that match Chevy!! He then told me my Chevy wasnt worth the metal it was printed on (Major insult to me here). He said he would see what he would do. He calls back 10 min later asking when I could come up there. I told him not unless we had a deal on MY terms. He said they made some concessions and gave me more for my trade, and the final deal would be for $452 a month with my bank. I told him I would call my wife to tell her. I still had a possible deal working with Chevy and wanted to give them some time since the salesman was extremely nice there. I call to speak to the general manager today to let him/her know how I was treated. Of course the GM isn't there. I speak to the General Sales Manager. I told him what happened. He apologized and said he would investigate it. He calls me back in 10 min to ask what he can do to earn my business. I told him they could include tinted windows for free (the Chevy has them) and he said he's had customers say they will leave over $100 and he says the dealership will walk away from $100 as well. The customer service just plain sucks with the salespeople. I understand Toyota is proud of their vehicles but don't insult the customer. Today the Chevy dealer says they have us hard approved for the 1.9%. Guess where I'm going? Their truck has more features anyway, for a much lower payment. Pat Lobb Toyota lost our business. My parents bought two vehicles there in the last year. They won't any more. My wife bought her car there. She will take it to another Toyota dealer for service now. Do not go there!!
  • New Facility...Same old story

2.3 out of 5 starsby brianjames on 09/16/2007

I agreed with the previous reviewer. The sales staff is just going through the motions...using the old book of tricks and tactics. Internet sales guy berated me because my credit is Tier II and not Tier I. Spent several hours at the dealership to test drive a truck. They ended-up giving me keys and left me to go find it. When I finally did, it was out of gas....SAD! It is a shame to spend all that money building a nice sized, enviornmentally friendly "green" facility...without being enviornmentally friendly to the element that matters most...PEOPLE! From what I observed, they are more focused on being honored for being "green" than for being a respected, successful dealership and service to the community.
  • The No Deal Dealership

1.7 out of 5 starsby slickwilly on 09/11/2007

The dealership was new. The inventory was adequate. The salesman seemed disingenuous and unprofessional. The salesman asked us why we wanted to test drive a new vehicle if we had been previously looking at a used vehicle, did we have budgetary constraints? The salesman kept suggesting we trade-in our car even though we said there was no trade-in. Their best deal was $479 off of the sticker, with no explanation and said "No" to including anything else. The salesman wanted to know what payment we would like before we had ever agreed to a price, or agreed to buy the car. They were $350 higher on the extended warranty for less time and miles than their competition. The buying process was slow and confusing. The salesman left us in his cubicle to visit with other customers at least twice. It took two trips, 5-6 hours to test drive and deal with two different salesmen who claimed to be sharing us before we walked out on the car we really wanted to buy. We bought the same car down the road for a better price and a much more enjoyable and friendly sales experience.

2007 Camry XLE (128000 mi) I still have issues with my suspension (replaced strut at 27000 miles and 3 sets of tires all under warranty), a hard shifting transmission into 2nd gear, recalls, extended warranties and now sludge in my engine. The Service Director at Pat Lobb claims nothing wrong with the suspension (20k and scalloping wear is normal), completely ignored the transmission issue and suggested that since they found sludge in the motor I needed to total the car AND in typical Toyota fashion, blamed me for the sludge. I realize he's in a Parts & Service position but he easily could have done something to show that Toyota acknowledges the issues they've had with the 2007 Camry. Instead, it was all excuses, blank stares and blame. He even brought up the topic of my Camry being a "lemon" but then claimed it couldn't be a lemon because it made it to 128000. Really? I guess that says a lot...Toyota has incredibly low standards.

4 years ago I went to Patt Lobb in mckinney and I bought a used Toyota tundra with only 24300 miles on it. it was a fair price but like a sucker I succumbed to the "you need to buy the " 6 Year " 100 k mile warranty. I was told it would cover prematurely worn tires, chipped glass, ... shortly thereafter I went in because 2 of the tires were worn out at 31k miles. I was told this wasn't covered because the previous owner had not had the tires rotated by a Toyota dealer every 5k miles. aggravated but stuff happens. yesterday I took my truck in at 99457 miles. about 500 before the 6 year 100k warranty was to expire, I was willing to pay them to look for anything that should be covered by the warranty and I was told my 6 year warranty had expired in 12 of 2012. the 6 year warranty didn't start when I bought it but when the vehicle first went into service. had I been told my 6 year warranty was actually a 3 year warranty I would never have spent over 1600 dollars on the damn thing. the credit managers comment? "im sorry that wasn't explained to you, I wasn't here at the time." Though I understood the warranty was till 100 k, I did not realize that if I bought a 3 year old truck and I bought a 6 year warranty its only good for three years. That’s a huge item people need to know.
  • The worst dealer I have ever experience

The dealer agreed to sell for me a Camry as the sale sticker price, but later added $1000 over on the paper work (I missed it). Also they sold me a car with hail damaged (on top of the car that I could see). After I found how dishonest they were, I wanted to return the car. The manager told me after you took the car out of the lot and that's your and walk away. I never see any sale man, manager and a car dealer were so dishonest and rude like this one. It's a worst car dealer I have ever experience in my life. I will contact the Toyota financing to cancel the contract and I'll never buy the Toyota again if they won't me to cancel the contract. The reason I rate them 1 star because it doesn't have 0 star in this rating.
  • Great Experience

My wife and I bought a Tundra during the Toyota sale event this summer. I began the process by asking for online quotes from several dealerships. Pat Lobb was responded promptly with a very good no nonsense offer (several actually since I had them quote a couple of different configurations). Actually, based on the offer, I fully expected to deal with the typical bait & switch/good for today only etc. type of tactics that most places put you through. Happily, I didn't experience any of that here. I was originally undecided between the Double Cab and the CrewMax. Our salesman did a great job of asking/answering questions - and more importantly - listening to our questions and concerns. He then pulled several vehicles (based on our discussions) around for us to test drive and helped us pick out exactly what we wanted. Hats off to Larry and Luke in the internet department for keeping things low key, honest and no-hassle. One of the best car buying experiences I've had!
  • Dishonest sales person

Attempted to buy from Pat Lobb Toyota since I wanted to give the business to a local dealer. Unfortunately, the sales person I was put in contact with was dishonest. What sounded like a great deal at several hundred dollars below dealer invoice turned out more than $1,000 over the dealer invoice he later shared with me (probably forgot at that time that he quoted a much higher dealer invoice amount just a day earlier...). I will not buy from a dealership that employs dishonest sales people.
