Great dealership, great purchasing experience
by kmaurer on 09/04/2010I had been looking for a Legacy 3.6R for quite a few weeks, and could not find what I was looking for in Salt Lake. I sent an e-mail to Doug Smith regarding a 3.6R on their website showing as "in transit." It took more than the promised… 30-minute window for Derek Schwendiman to contact me (contacted the dealership on a Saturday at 12:58PM, received a response back on Monday at 3:51PM). Initially was not going to work with this dealership because of this, but he seemed genuinely sorry about the delay. When the car arrived at the dealership, I made an appointment to test drive. The car was ready and was clean. Overall, the purchasing process was easy and the F&I department did not "hard sell" the add-ons. (One tip: when you agree to a deal, say you do not want the theft registration. It's basically worthless. I didn't know this dealership automatically added it.) Derek was a great salesperson and knows his stuff regarding the product he sells. He also was very honest & upfront about everything and I did not feel like the dealership was trying to "take" me. Derek has also followed up after the purchase (which a lot of salespeople don't do anymore). I would recommend Derek and Doug Smith Subaru to anyone looking to buy a new or used vehicle.It was a pleasure buying a Outback from Doug Smith.
by maxamuus on 11/18/2008After my three hour nightmare at LH Miller Subaru, on my way home I decided to stop at Doug Smith and see what they had in stock. Boy, am I glad I did. Doug Smith was NIGHT AND DAY better experience over what I had went thru at LH… Miller Subaru. My salesman Jeff Hardman was very pleasant to deal with. I asked what used 08 Outbacks he had and he was able to show me them, and the prices right away. I chuckled and told him he had provided more service in 10 minutes then I had got after 3 hours at LH Miller Subaru. Jeff was able to run the numbers, negotiated a bit but never did the high pressure games. He didn't try to make me sign papers saying if he could get this price or that price I would promise to buy the car like LH Miller Subaru did more then once. In the end I ended up getting a great deal on a NEW 08 for what I was going to pay for a used one. They ran financing for me and got me a better rate then I had been pre-approved for. They sent the car to be washed and cleaned and filled with gas and I didn't even have to ask them to do so. Jeff spent sometime in the car with me showing me how all the cars features work. All around it was a great experience. Do yourself a favor and skip the other guys and start and finish at Doug Smith. I wish I hadn't spent 3 hours of being badgered at the other guys first.Jon B is the man!

After visiting many dealerships and getting our feet wet, we came to the Doug Smith Subaru dealer. Jon came out to greet us, gave us a great deal and was friendly and patient… as we were taking this big step. I recommend this dealership and not only this dealership but Jon specifically. We worked with another salesman here who was a little pushy but when we came back and Jon helped us, it was a great experience. Thanks Jon!Great doing business - love my Tundra

After a few brief emails between Jeff and myself, I had the car I wanted ready for me within a week. The price he quoted… was exactly what he gave me when I showed up, with no hidden fees, and he got me exactly what I asked for when trading in my old '99 Camry. I was in an out of the dealership within 2 hours. The best part was that Jeff was very helpful in getting me the car I wanted, and he wasn't pushy or rush me at all. He should write the book on selling trucks! He is no pressure, doesn't try to sell you… something that you don't want or need. He Is extremely knowledgeable about his product. definitely will be back to purchase another vehicle from him! He is a great asset to this dealership!
