by Eric_333 on 10/13/2016I had a wonderful experience at Southtowne VW. Hazen Hancock the salesman was the reason I purchased there. He made it so simple and his follow up was exceptional. I will refer him to everyone.Mujo VW
by Sprdnja on 10/12/2016Since you asked, we had an extremely good experience when purchasing my car at VW SouthTown. Mujo Worked so hard to make Me feel comfortable, and to accommodate Me. Mujo was continually patient and upbeat. Mujo even saved Me some money… and time, although that did not make the sale. So Happy with my VW Passat and customer services at VW SouthTown. Mujo is the best persone at VW SouthTown.Great expereince Jeremy was great help
by tlaursen on 10/11/2016Jeremy did a great job at helping me get out of my old lease which carried baggage from a former vehicle tradein, I had long gone over my miles. He was able to make all that go away and help me into a brand new lease. Very knowledgeable… and worked for me to get me the best deal possible with my situationNew car
by Mholmes70 on 10/12/2016Went in to get out of current lease and get a new car. The sales staff and our salesman Mitch were all very friendly and did whatever they could to get us a good deal on the new car. Would definitely refer my friends and family to VW… Southtowne. They have great customer service and great follow up.Dishonest
by Jessica0791 on 05/21/2016Be very aware of this dealership and their deception.I spent many hours working on our "deal" with Trevor and Scott which became a huge waste of time and money! They promised all this discounts that never made it to the sales contract. After… contacting them on the matter, no one can take responsibility of their lies and misleading information. They are horrible at returning phone calls and taking care of their customers, sadly we purchased a vehicle from them for a lot more then it's worth but of course at the time of the purchase nothing was mention to us. All they cared for was to push a sale. They work "numbers" to show you what you want to see while alterig reality and keeping all the extra charges in pure silent. I will never do business with this dishonest company again and I sure don't recomend anyone to step a foot in their doors. After asking if I can work out something with them they suggested a trade in 2 days after the purchase paying $13,000 less then what I had paid originally they're a complete RIPOFF stay away!buying a car
by DC17904 on 04/05/2016I purchased a VW Sportwagen at VW Southtowne approx one year ago. The car buying process was easy and quick with Mujo Kuburic, our salesman. He was great and easy to work with. Mujo followed up via email for the next couple weeks to make… sure we were happy with the car. Even a year later I can still send him an email and he will respond within minutes. Mujo understands the value of a lifelong sale. I would recommend Southtown and especially Mujo to anyone looking to buy a car.Wonderful Experience
by Jeremy1994 on 12/18/2015updated 01/06/2016Just had a great time here at Volkswagen. I am going through a divorce right now and the staff here was wonderful and understanding. They helped me get out off a car that was way over priced and into a wonderful Jetta. Mujo was really… friendly and warm. One of the best associates. I definitely will be coming back once I need a new car.Really rewarding
by SergeyBarmin on 12/21/2015Have to thank Mujo Kuburic to help me have the car I really wanted. I have been a customer of Sowthtowne VW for some years already, and always have only positive experience. The people that work there are knowledgeable and attentive. When I… started looking for my new car, I spoke to Mujo even back in summer, and he was willing to answer all my questions and spare his time, although knowing that I was not ready to buy. I returned in November, and thanks to Mujo I am now an owner of the car that answers my requirements. Mujo is a very pleasant, and HONEST to deal with; he is not pushy and experience working with him was really rewarding.Jetta TDI buyback equals KBB Trade in not MSRP as dealer advertises
by Shaffer87 on 11/14/2015After purchasing a 2015 Jetta TDI SEL in May, my wife and I found ourselves with a vehicle worth 66% of MSRP. The average car depreciates approx. 11%, and 25% after the first year. This carMSRP was $29,825. Today, Nov. 14th, it's worth only… $19,610 due to the diesel and VW as a whole. This dealer advertises that they will buy your car at MSRP, minus miles and damage. Yet, they will only offer KBB trade-in, which is $17,200. The manager insisted that no one would even trade it in, so I'm better off taking their offer. Yet, it completely disregards their advertising. I explained that though VW sold a defective car, they sold it to us. Understandably, I can see their hesitation. However, as a representative of VW Care team, they are also required to assist customers with direct VW complaints. This dealer did not offer and insisted they have nothing to do with our car any longer. Terrible service, and extremely manipulative with their offers.Beware
by sjorgen on 09/25/2015I have bought 3 cars from Southtowne in the last year, yes I should have learned the first time but I guarantee I have learned now. The first one the financing guy, Eric added a bunch of things to my contract that I did not know until of… course it was too late, the second car of course because of being upside down, they had to roll everything over so again I was upside down. I just helped my daughter purchase one and again the finance people screwed us over. MJ the sales guys was really good to work with, when he leaves there I hope he lets me know...other wise I will never set foot in the place again.Good Overall Experiene
by clong2 on 10/26/2010There were a number of dealers that I had called to decide who was the most willing to work with me not only on price but also, someone that I was comfortable talking to and felt like they were willing to get me any and all information I… needed, when i got ahold of PT he was very knowledgable and very informed, he didn't try to push or rush my decision untill he had given me all the facts, He has since followed up numerous time to make sure that I'm satisfied, and everything would have been perfect untill i noticed a small dent on my new car. I was almost embarrased to call wondering if it was something that had happend in a parking lot, when i call him he immediatley set an appointment to get it repaired, something above and beyond that wasn't the average run of the mill response that you get from most dealers, thanks to him i will be doing future business with VW SOUTHTOWNE!never again...
by muchsnow on 10/21/2010They low-balled (by about 10K) me on my trade before I could find out what it's actual value parameter's were. They wouldn't work with anything other than MSRP. They made errors in their favor multiple times on the paperwork (which kept… lowering my trade in value even then, by thousands). They (collectively) would not return phone calls inquiring about errors. High pressure tactics, with a lot of vocal volume and the only interests mentioned are what they are doing for themselves. They tie you up for hours just leaving you sit in sales cubicles or wandeing the place for each micro-descision on the sales process. I wish they could be charged for the time out of my life spent there... They now have my trade as hostage, and I just want the whole deal to go away....Great Volkswagen Dealer!
by dvaldez1 on 07/26/2010We purchased a 2010 Jetta in March and a 2010 CC in May from Volkswagen South Towne. James Hollingshead helped us on both occasions. James is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Volkswagens. He is very friendly and helpful and has a… genuine desire to help his customers. Both James and Luke were great to work with.Volkswagen SouthTowne
by rushracer6 on 11/03/2009I had a wonderful experience at this dealership. Every person that I had to deal with was friendly and objective, not deceitful. The price I paid for the car was far below what it should have been worth, and they gave me a fair price for my… trade-in. From the sales department to the finance department, everyone was easy to deal with and treated me like a VIP. I can't imagine going anywhere else for a new or used car. The bad reviews listed must have been with SouthTowne's old GM, but since the new management has been in place, this dealership is a real gem. I am going to recommend this place to everyone I know, and you too.STAY AWAY YOU WILL GET TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF
by hyper_lite on 09/04/2009This dealership is ridiculous. I spent 4 hours here and got no where. The staff is rude and does not play fair. Several times the financial manager ended up raising his voice considerably. My wife and kids ended up leaving the… dealership. They will try to get you to sign incomplete documents. All they care about discussing is your monthly payment. It is near impossible to get information you want from them (interest rate, final value of the car you're looking at, trade-in, etc). The payment is simple math once the items are discussed. I've filed a complaint with VW of America and will give negative reviews to all sites on internet to help shoppers stay away from this dealership. All they want to do is play games and THEY WILL end up taking advantage of you. STAY AWAY! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED AND THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU IN ANY POSSIBLE WAY!Very Pleased and Happy with VW at SouthTowne
by mascha2020 on 08/09/2009After reading some really negative feedback, I felt I needed to post my review of my positive experience working with this particular dealership in Draper. Let me 1st preface, I never buy used cars; you're just inheriting someone else's… problems. All the used cars I've bought in the past, yes, I could easily blame the dealership. That's unfortunate, but that's just how it is. I've learned to NOT deal with it and instead buy NEW. We actually bought a new SUV in April, 2009. The whole experience was great, albeit long 6 hours. However, the end result was worth it and I even got a free VW shirt. I highly recommend this dealership based on their integrity, follow through and knowledge.Worste Dealer in Utah
by true_story on 07/09/2009My husband and I bought our suv from Volkswagon Southtowne and it was the biggest mistake of our lives! Do not buy a car from volkswagon southtowne it will be the worste experience of your life. The best part of my experience with… volkswagon southtowne was leaving the dealership and not hearing from them again. have had to go back to the dealer 5 times within 2 weeks for the dumbest reasons and none of those visits benefited me. We traded in our sedan and got an suv. Every man that worked with us which was about 7 total- lied to us. A salesman was taking down information on our sedan. I told him it had been in 3 accidents. He asked me what kind and I explained. He smiled and said- ahh lets just say you were in 1 accident. I just found out yesterday that my car was sold and im confident they told the buyer it was only in 1 accident if they even mentioned it at all. When we came to an agreeable loan amount and trade in offer- they kept leaving and came back every time saying "oh, we can't meet this amount" and they went higher even after both sides already agreed. We literally spent 6 hours the first day. 6 hours the second day on just signing and coming to an agreement. Another salesman told us the car we bought was a 4 wheel drive but it was actually an All wheel drive. The fog lamp was literally broken and pushed into the car so i did not work. They would not fix it even after we were given verbal consent from the ultimate [violative content deleted] in the finance department that gave us the biggest problems- James Reid. The cd player was also broken with a cd stuck inside which my husband managed to get out. We signed a "We Owe" saying they will owe a cd player that costs $225. To add to that, They checked my credit report and received my loan amount balance on the sedan that I was trading in. I signed the amount. Since I had no access to the internet and the bank was closed, I did not have the opportuniy to verify the amount. One week later James Reid calls me and says "the bank needs proof of residency and we need it today." They wouldn't accept our driver licsense which they already had a copy of. I was in the ER in salt lake and we live in orem and my husband was at work in salt lake also. Obviously, there was no way we could give them our proof of residency that day- even if we wanted to. So James reid said that he'll send someone over to come get it. How am i supposed to give him proof of residency when im at the ER and all my papers would be at home in Orem? Two weeks later, James Reid calls me and says, " you gave us the incorrect payoff amount on your sedan so you owe us $325 in which you need to pay now." First of all, they are the ones that gave me the pay off amount. At this point, they said they would fix the cd player from the "we owe" and credit the $225 to the pay off differene of $325 leaving about $95 left over for us to pay. I told him that he gave us verbal consent to fix the fog lamp and after arguing with them on how ridiculous this is- James Reid starting laughing at me- literally laughing. I seriously dont understand what was so funny. They are so dishonest and munipulative [violative content deleted]. They will not stop looking for ways to squeeze any kind of money out of our pockets. In the end, they did not fix our cd player ($225) or our fog lamp ($170) and credited the money that would've been spent on them to our $325 pay off difference in which was never verified to the bank in the first place. On top of that, when I was finally leaving the dealership- a woman was at repairs complaining that her car is broken and had several problems and of course, they would not fix it and she had to pay. Worste car dealership ever! They dont car about helping you they just want to give you a crapy car and make a lot of money out of it. I would not recommend this dealer to anyone!!!!SouthTowne VW Review
by oldnotdead on 03/25/2009I recently bought my used Volkswagen from SouthTowne VW and encourage anyone looking for a good buying experience to go elsewhere. If I had any sense at all I would not have completed the deal but I wanted the car too much and there were… very few used ones in this area. The salesman, sales manager and finance guy all took every opportunity to mislead, confuse and even lie to get more money out of me. Thankfully I was able to avoid some of their scheming and the car seems to be a good one. The VW of America web sight showed the car I bought as a certified used car with extended warranty but the dealership told me it was too new to be certified. The dealership web site said they always provide history documentation for used cars but they told me there was no history available. They did not honor their advertised price from their web site and tried to use lies and trickery to sell me an extended warranty. Also, be aware that they will try to get you financed at a high interest rate to get a kickback from a bank of their choosing. I was told the car would be financed locally for my convenience but I don't consider California as local. I could go on but it just gets me upset.I has a similar and just as awful of an experience. They used every under handed trick in the book! They are full of lies and will take you for all you're worth. The general manager is the epitome of evil and sets the bar for any incubus! Every person there is sneaky and will contradict themselves and each other. They even threatened me. They said I had very good credit and it would be shame to have it ruined. I would advise for anyone and everyone to buy a car some where else. I had my heart set on a VW and ended up in Vegas to get it. It was an incredible deal and worth the drive. Please beware and re-consider before you even set foot into the show room floor.
Morally compromised
by amyslc on 06/27/2011updated 04/28/2025I purchased a VW golf 2000 for my son on 6/17/11 for his 16th birthday. After high pressure, and my son liking the Golf we purchased it, cash. After only driving it home from the dealership it failed to start the following day, it was towed… in, they replaced 2 electronic parts then made it sound like they did me a huge favor (they agreed to fix anything needed to pass emissions a car must start to have the emissions checked.) By the time I got the car home it was smoking and the clutch was out. The car operated for less than 1 hour. At time of purchase, I asked how the timing belt was, the manager said We just replaced the serpentine belt and the timing belt is right there if it had needed one they would have put it on guess what I talked to the mechanic it needs a new timing belt and they never looked at it. To help me out these nice guys were willing to give me a break on a new clutch for $1,300 if it needed a fly wheel they would only charge me around $2,000...wow so generous. They may be legally justified by a stupid piece of paper I signed but they are morally compromised. I own three volkswagens I will never go anywhere but Strongs again!Worst possible car buying experience!
by Lewie519 on 08/01/2013updated 04/28/2025This was the worst possible car buying experience of my life. The experience started out the day before I bought the car when we met with the salesman. (Oops.. I should actually refer the the salesman as a Wal Mart greeter as they were only… allowed to conduct medial tasks - this would have been nice to know 24 hours ago). The greeter was friendly and nice but brought in the big guns when it came time to discuss price. The apparent decision maker asked us what he needed to do to get us into the car before month end (this was actually the day before month end). We told him where the price needed to be and made it very clear that our price was an out the door, total price (Inclusive of all fees, costs, registration, tax, etc). "Sure, we can do that". He then wrote down the deal price on his card that he gave me. The next day I called him and asked him to confirm that the deal was firm and I don't hear back from him. Oh, he says he called back but didn't leave a message. As if I have esp and should have known that he called. Customer service lesson number one, a call returned without a message equals no call returned...Duh. After, a call to the greeter, we are told to come out, we have a deal. If I had known the greeter "isn't even allowed to sharpen the pencils" (as he later stated), I would have known not to venture out to the dealer and waste 5 hours of my time. But no, I arrive at the dealership at 5:15 and was greeted warmly by our greeter. After exchanging pleasantries we fill out a form that he asks us to sign that says we agree to close a deal today if certain terms are met. Seems odd doesn't it? Kind of makes you feel untrustworthy. Like after we negotiate the deal we are going to back out of it. Yea thats it, I came to the dealership to spend four hours of my valuable time, only to say gotcha and walk out....After waiting an hour I insist on talking to the decision maker. He doesn't come but the greeter brings in a hand written agreement that bears no resemblance to the "deal" we had already agreed to in principle. Before he can finish, I send the greeter back to star command (that one office where grown men shuffle paper around and whisper back and forth - likely figuring out their Tee times and occasionally laughing as they make reference to the poor suckers waiting for hours in the glass cubicles) to get the deal we already negotiated. Finally the decision maker arrives and informs us that he can't get the deal done that we agreed too. I guess I was duped. Turns out he only has greeter authority. The real decisions come from the guy in star command. At this point, I'm not sure this decision maker even exists. Maybe its a computer and ALL the warm bodies are just greeters. I inform him that I won't pay the revised price and assume we will have to buy elsewhere. "No, what will it take" I'm asked? I reiterate the deal for the third time and make sure he understands my price is out the door inclusive of all possible add ons. After a 20 minute visit to star command he returns with good news. We have a deal. My son is relieved, the haggling is over. "You wish" I tell him. Unfortunately, it is far from over. "That won't be the final price", I tell him. He has spent too much time at McDonalds and the Apple store where pricing is fixed and greeters can actually sell you something. It is now 7 o'clock, almost two hours after we first arrive. Now we wait, and wait and wait. Finally I tell our greeter that it is extremely irresponsible to keep us waiting for all this time. Is my time not valuable? If you wanted to close the deal by month end, shouldn't you have the resources on site to close the deal timely. As I get agitated, they send in the German to share his stories of the autobahn and diesel prices in Germany. I'm not even sure he was German, his accent was more like an american who had served a mission to germany and acquired a funky drawl. He was the 7th inning reliever, good for about 1 inning and able to get the dealership into the home stretch which they knew was going to take at least another hour. Finally at about 8:30, I insist we will have to leave if we don't get into the closing office in the next ten minutes. At this point we had met or been handed off to 5 people. Finally we are escorted to the office where we meet our sixth person. He types all the numbers into the computer and gives us the final price, which is about $1,000 over the final, three- times negotiated price. Oh yes, and just in time, as most of the decision makers in star command have now gone home and can't confirm that the price we negotiated did in fact include the items we were now being charged for separately. We are now handed off to person number 7. The negotiated price can't be right, we are losing money on this deal, is his response. Why does every dealer lose money on every deal and somehow they are driving the best car on the lot and living the good life (not the greeters, just those in star command). At this point my son is helping me with breathing lessons and making sure there are no sharp objects near by. Despite the prior decision makers notes on the deal sheet the say the fees and costs are all included, they tell me (person #7) that the deal can't work. More than 4 hours and 7 greeters later and I just now find out that the deal can't be done. (By the way, the woman next to me had been waiting for an hour longer than me). The complete lack of respect for a customer was not just limited to me. The joke, it appears, is on me! He beats me up for another $700 and we get the deal done as I cannot bear to think about starting over. This dealership does not value its customers and utilized questionable ethical tactics to mislead potential buyers. I can't imagine they will gain a single repeat customer.twice happy
by poizen on 05/21/2013updated 04/28/2025I've purchased two cars from VW Southtowne and both times have had an awesome experience. My first was from James and the second from Bo. Even though I'd only been leasing my Golf for just over a year, they worked hard to get me into a new… TDI Jetta and my payment went DOWN $3 a Month (same term). No games, just straight-forward and easy. I'd strongly recommend these guys as I don't like the hassle of car shopping and they made my purchase simple and straight-forward.

I wish I would have read your review before visiting Southtowne. You are absolutely correct in your statements!
