    I recently booked a 15,000 miles scheduled maintenance with Lindsay Lexus through their website. It gave me various options when scheduling the appointment online. The website listed the required maintenance and then did an automatic 'up… sell' on optional items (e.g. upgraded car wash, tire rotation, etc) which I just unchecked and keep the required maintenance package which brought the price down to a reasonable level. I dropped the car off at 8:00 A.M. and I had requested the shuttle service to work which was only 2 1/2 miles away which was fine. I did not hear back from them so decided to call around 4:00 P.M. and was told it would be ready in 5 or 10 minutes. I ask for the shuttle to pick me up and was told, 'honestly I would just get a cab.' Which is not the biggest deal ever but my bill was over $500 and a short shuttle ride to pick me up I felt was not out of reason and this is a service they offer anyway. I arrived at the dealer and after 8 1/2 hours the car was still not ready. So far nothing I couldn't live with, then I got the bill! It was 48% higher than what I had booked on the website. Surprisingly they had add various items to the bill that was not agreed to, nor was I called and asked would I like these items and when I asked why the bill was almost 50% higher than what I had booked on the website I was made to feel like I was unreasonable for asking the question. Obviously what you select on the website is either not sent to the dealer or just ignored. I was told these extras are standard for the required maintenance which if you look at the manual or their website was not listed. After having an uncomfortable and unnecessary confrontation they did reduce the bill but again I was made to feel like a trouble maker for simply wanting only what I had requested from their website. And finally the car was supposed to be vacuumed and washed which if it was you could not tell it. If you are having scheduled maintenance done at this dealer, print off, or stipulate exactly what you want before handing over the keys or your bill will be filled with goodies for the dealer you did not ask for...

    I moved from Maryland, Rockville to Alexandria 3 months ago. I love living in Virginia, except one horrible experience from the dealer shop, which is Lexus of Alexandria. I love my car, that's the reason I'm doing regular check up… whenever it is time to the maintenance. On Saturday, 1/23/2010, I visited the service center, and asked them to 85,000 miles check up. After they looked into my car, they suggested change the front brake pads and grinding the routers for preventing handle shaking. As usual, I accepted and asked them what the total of the price is. They answered first $520 for total. But they provided me with 10% discount for the service, and invoiced me about $450. At that moment, I didn't have any doubt to pay the price. After finishing the service, I just wondered if I did get overcharged. So, I asked my old dealer shop, which was Lexus of Rockville. Surprisingly, they answered $415 without the discount. What the heck!!?? Therefore, I simply called Lexus of Alexandria to discount the price with $400, because I felt bad and I needed recovery from mental and financial pain. I tried a couple of calls, but they didn't give me a call right away. Almost the end of the day, I got a phone call from the service manager. His voice was a kind of grumpy and asked, "What is your problem?" He sounded like, "I'm ready to fight with you". I asked the price down, because the service price was overcharged. Unfortunately, he argue with my price, and denied. He said that he called Lexus of Rockville, and he got the original price, which was $520. I couldn't believe him, because I clearly heard from one of the service guys from Lexus of Rockville. He pointed out that the service will be $415, including taxes. :( By the way, comparing with Lexus of Rockville, Lexus of Alexandria's customer waiting area was simply bad and clouded. The manager insisted that their service and environment with excellent and 99% customer satisfied. The waiting area was small and inconvenient. Chairs were cheap plastic chairs, except two or three were leather chairs. Waiting area was a kind of kids' playground. Tiny space. The manager also mentioned that free soda, coffees, and etc. Oh my God... Lexus of Rockville has much variety of choices, and way better than Lexus of Alexandria. I can say, the price was Lexus, and the price of customer service was Toyota level. What a shame!! I do NOT recommend this service center at all. My suggestion is that if you living in Washington D.C. area, go to Lexus of Rockville around the beltway. You will clearly see what the difference and how high the quality of the service. I don't mind if I got at least a better service. They simply the money what the price is shown. That's is NOT a service. Service is a customer satisfaction. Therefore, I'm NOT going to the service center again, and I don't mind to drive my dealer shop, which is Lexus of Rockville. Lexus of Alexandria will be hard to survive unless they recognize how important the customers reputation. Customers are King! Thanks for reviewing my comments. Joon
    • I had similar bad customer service experience. They treated me and my kids like last people on earth, nobody to help, i had to go around look for my car and after look for my car keys. The assigned consultant was nowhere to show after i made the payment which was not what i have been expecting. While other consultants were treating other customers differently. I was treated very differently in some certain way and i wouldnt know WHY?. Didnt get complete service, called the general manager and was simply told to go find another dealer!!!

    Been to Lindsey Lexus three times now. Each was a very pleasant experience. I frankly expect the car to be serviced correctly and have had no issues in that regard. What I'm more interested in is an efficient experience. Let's face it,… we're busy professionals and time is scarce. In each visit, I was processed in, had a loaner car, and out the door quickly. Ditto with the pickup. Ask for "Ski" as your service writer -- aces. BTW, didn't stay, but waiting area seemed nice -- free food/drinks, internet, separate kid's play room, etc.

    The internet rep has not shown much interest in answering my questions other than asking my name and phone #. I am interested in buying a car from them, but he certainly did a poor job to woo me even coming out to the dealer office...

    I would not recommend to go to Lindsay Lexus of Alexandria. Customer service is really bad, they will be annoyed if you ask Qs about this and that. And if you try to complain.....??????, i was told to go find another dealer. So up to you.

    The salesman exceeded my expectations. He was there for every question I had, returned every phone call promptly and even came in on a Sunday when the dealership is normally closed and it's his day off.

    I've been getting my Lexus serviced by them for years. They do provide a very high quality of customer service, but be warned. The will try to upsell on everything from unneeded windshield wipers and tire rotation/balancing to outrageous… fluild topup charges. I insist they only do the specific maintanance listed in my owners manual and nothing else. They must call me if they find a problem. No additional services of any kind without my approval. This has cut my maintenance costs by at least $100 per visit. They recently attempted to charge my for windshield washer fluid topup (typical of them) when I had filled it just before going in for service. When confronted they retracted this item. Be specific and carefully check your bill with them. They will attempt to upsell on everything from unneeded

    Dealer provided estimate for a trade in and then low balled it after I traveled 35 miles to dealership. Sales person gave General Mgr incorrect information and basicly killed any deal that may have been made. Get all price offers in… writing!

    The customer service is definitely first rate and extremely professional; afterwards I felt like family. All my requirements were met, all my questions were answered and not once I felt like I was wasting their time. The Lindsey Lexus Team… is very knowledgeable, courageous and provided awesome service that I can remember once one I was in contact with. From the service that I received by Tim, Mario, Alex and Mathias and the quality of the vehicle, I am definitely a Lexus owner for life.     I have now purchased 3 Lexus from Bob. He is easy to work with, very knowledgeable, knows what the customer needs to make a decision and is never pushy. Bob explains the options and will give as much or as little data as you want. He makes… shopping fun.

  • Played games and did not honor commitment

    On the Thursday before a holiday weekend, I was given a price for the new 2013 SUV RX350. I intended to buy the car the next day. Several times during the phone conversation the dealer confirmed that the price he had quoted included… everything except tags, title and taxes. I postponed leaving on vacation so that I could go buy this car while the special finance offer was still being offered. At 9 a.m. the next morning, just as I was about to leave my house to go to the dealership to buy the car, the dealer called. Seems he had misunderstood the manager and that the cost he had quoted did not include an $895 fee. I asked for the manager who also told me that the car would cost $895 more than the quote I had been given. Well, I did buy my car that day -- at a better price and from a different dealership. My advice -- forget Lindsey Lexus and head straight for Towson, MD Lexus. It was well worth the drive!

    I wouldn't use this place if they offered me service for free at this point. I know this sounds far-fetched, but I firmly believe they stole my car battery (bought at Advanced Auto) last time I had the car in for an oil change, and replaced… it with a worn out battery (Lexus OEM battery) that ended up dying and stranding me a week and a half later. Maybe it was a mistake, or maybe one of the technicians has a little side-operation where he sells secondhand car batteries, or maybe it's something the dealership employs as a tactic to hopefully get you back in there a week later so they can hit you for a battery replacement service and who knows what else. The Service Manager respectfully disagreed with my complaint, and the truth is, I wish I could come up with a feasible explanation that would allow me to agree with him, but I can't. I know I didn't swap the battery, and there's no other way it could have gone down. To be fair in my assessment of the operation, the people out front who deal with the customers are all very polite, and considerate. They try to take care of everything quickly. The waiting area is clean, well appointed, free wifi, up-to-date, etc. but does what you see matter at all, if what you don't see is money getting siphoned out of your wallet based on dishonesty?

    As a first time Lexus buyer and more importantly, this being the first car purchase I have made by myself without outside help or advice, I entered into this process with great trepidation. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised by… the entire experience at Lindsay Lexus and especially with my sales representative Josh W. I was very concerned that I would be manipulated, fast talked or taken advantage of when purchasing a vehicle by myself. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Josh W. went out of his way to ensure I got an excellent price. He was easy going, pleasant, straight forward, professional, direct, fair and honest. He made the entire process pleasant and stress free, something I never expected from a car purchase. My entire experience at Lindsay Lexus of Alexandria was the epitome of what a luxury car purchase should be. Every step was handled swiftly and professionally with clear emphasis shown to customer comfort and satisfaction. I would enthusiastically recommend Josh W. and Lindsay Lexus of Alexandria and will be a happy customer for many years to come.
