I driver 4 hours to buy my truck. Best decision I made. They are extremely professional and easy to work with. I can’t recommend them enough.

Pinkerton customer service sucks. On Friday, June 28th, I drove over to Pinkerton to go and look at a truck that had been on the website saying "in stock" for a week. So, I got pre-approved and talked to a salesman named Mario. Mario told me the bad news, which was that the truck was not there and that he didn't know when it would get there. Well, his supervisor, Joel, got involved as well. He said he didn't know when it would get there either, and that it was supposed to be there two weeks ago from when I got to the dealership. Mario and Joel had assured me that they would put it on a hot load and get it there the following next week. Mario had even talked me into putting down a $500 deposit so that I could say it's mine and that no one else will take it. Mario told me he would contact me the following Monday with an update. Well, Monday, July 1st comes up. I had expected to hear something by the end of the day, but I did not. So, I called Mario, and he said that it wouldn't be there until by the end of the month. What?! Well, I had asked Mario if he had put it on a hot load like he said and he said that he would do it... Even though he AND Joel told me it would be on a hot load, which should have happened by the time I called Mario. I asked Mario if it would be there that week and his words were "I'm going to try". A week and a half goes by and I have heard nothing. I got fed up and started contacting other dealerships. I had a quote on a '22 Dodge ram power wagon that was in great condition. So, I told Mario about the Dodge from the other dealer. Figured I might see if I can get a better deal to keep my money or to get a different brand new truck, one of the '23 Chevrolet Silverado RST's they had. Mario told me he wasn't at the office. So, I come by the next day for a surprise visit to get my money back. Mario talked me into staying with the Colorado instead of getting my money back. When I mentioned the Silverado's, he told me "Aw, those are $70-80,000, you aren't interested in them". I know I'm not a salesman, but I am pretty sure it is not a salesman's place to tell me what I can and can not afford. The next day, Mario called me and said that he called GM and told them about the car being sold and to make it a hot load... Wait, what?! He still had not made it a hot load after telling g me TWICE already that he did?! That's correct. But apparently he did this time... A week passes by, and I hear nothing. I'm checking the website daily to see if the truck is even listed still, and it was, even said "in stock" the whole time. I even drove by the dealership every day after work to see if the truck was there or not, because by that point, I didn't trust Mario or Joel to tell me anything. The following week, Monday, July 22nd I texted Mario at 5:51 PM and asked if there was any update. Mario replied "Hey Grayson I will have a better update in the morning". Well, the following morning, I heard nothing. So, I texted Mario again at 4:05 PM and asked if he had an update since I didn't hear from him this morning. Mario replied "Hey Grayson nothing yet on the Colorado Hopefully soon .I haven't forgot you.I check everyday". So, I guess Mario was pulling my leg and didn't have a "better update". So, I texted him back and said "Ok... I thought I would have received a 'better update' this morning." And then Mario proceeded to call me. I sent it to voicemail. He left a message stating that he had another Colorado ZR2 coming in next month on the 1st. So, I figured I'd call back and humor him. He looked it up while I was on the phone with him and he said "Oh, it's a z71. Not a ZR2." I was angry. I did not get hateful and I did not get rude. But I asked for my money back and I did. I had to go back and get refunded at the dealership. Mario didn't talk to me and didn't stay for me to finish my refund either. I feel violated and taken advantage of. What a horrible experience. If you want to know what the service team is like, take a look at the reviews for Pinkerton on Google. As long as you're not going there for more than an oil change and get your tires rotated, you're good. Otherwise, it's like dealing with a team full of monkeys with hammers.

In and out quickly no random problems
  • Just needed a battery?

    1 out of 5 starsby Cheryl T on 02/27/2024

I went in with my car because it was sputtering and jerking when I accellerated quickly. Pinkerton told me it was a battery and a negative cable. I don't believe it was the battery but it was probably the cable. My car had been jerking for a long time but never failed to start. And it ran fine with no problems at all if I accellerated moderately. It cost almost $500 for them to diagnose and replace these two items. As soon as I got the car, I heard a noise, I have driven the car for 10 years so I am familiar with it's sounds. They refused to even look at it to see if maybe they left something loose. A man came out and told me they did nothing to my car and if I wanted them to look to see what was wrong, I would have to pay the $165 hourly diagnostic fee. I was very angry and refused his offer. I took my car to Apperson Automotive and they said the spark plugs were loose and charged me $110 to diagnose and tighten the plugs. I feel like Pinkerton somehow during the testing and diagnosing loosened the plugs, but anyway, since it was as soon as I got the car back they could have at least checked for what was making the noise. They really acted like I was making it up that it just started and wanted them to go over my car for free.

This dealership always handles my service appointments in a very professional manner. They are efficient and you can depend on them to perform work in a timely manner. They do good work.
  • Nice service call

4 out of 5 starsby Truckin on 02/22/2024

Service was quick and everyone was professional and courteous. The only other thing was why charge a service fee if you pay with a credit card. Nobody walks around with a checkbook anymore. They honor discounts for veterans but, I guess only on certain things. I notice oil changes isn't one of them.
  • Not Happy this time

    3 out of 5 starsby Jamesw24153 on 03/01/2023

I was disappointed this time, they had my car for longer than they said and never called me to let me know. Also was told that they would help me with the cost because of it and they didn't. So I am disappointed in Pinkerton this time and may have to rethink where I have my car serviced from now on

  • These guys are the BEST!

5 out of 5 starsby sdshoosier on 04/06/2016

This is a wonderful dealership. Their service staff is incredible. Everytime I make an appointment for service they are on time and prompt about getting me in and out. They have the BEST waiting room in the entire Roanoke, VA valley. The staff is always friendly and there charges are quite reasonable. I didn't buy my car from them, but the next time I am in the market they will get first choice to earn my business.
  • A Very Poor Experience

1.3 out of 5 starsby adammcm on 10/10/2010

I bought my Nissan Sentra from Pinkerton Chevrolet with the extended warranty. Prior to my wife driving to Connecticut today, I had our daughter bring it to Pinkerton Chevrolet in Salem for an oil change and inspection. My wife made an appointment for 9 AM. When she made the appointment, Randy assured her it would only take an hour. When our daughter brought the car in, it took two hours, she watched several cars come in get work done, and go out while she sat there. When she got home there was oil dripping throughout the engine compartment. So much was spilled it splattered on the outside, of the passenger's side fender. Mike Adams told her a complete inspection was done. He was so focused on pushing new tires on her, (even after she told him it was not her car); he did not notice, The brake lights were not working. Too bad, Roanoke City Police noticed when they pulled her over. I would grade today's experience with Pinkerton Chevrolet a D-. It would have been an F but they did manage to get some oil in the engine. I called and left a message for Mr. Adams, explained how my wife's trip had to be canceled. I will have to wait two days till Monday morning to see how they intend to make this right. Adam McMahon Roanoke VA
