by teggleston on 07/14/2008I found an advertisement in Auto Trader, being a cautious buyer I did a title check with Auto-Check on the vehicle advertised. It was offered by Skagit Ford Subaru of Burlington WA. The title check report confirmed that this car was a low… mileage and local car. Nothing out of the ordinary was noted. I called the dealer and spoke with a salesman. I asked him if the car was really as good as it appeared in the pictures. I further asked him to personally look at the car. Look at it as if you where going to buy it. He called me back and said it was in extraordinary condition. So I made an appointment to see the car the next day. I drove 70 plus mile one way with the intention of purchasing this car if it drove OK. Upon arrival the same salesman met me and my wife and I started to look at the car. The salesman then informed me that the car really had 120K on it and that the speedometer had been replaced. Of course I was upset and left but the worst part of this unfortunate story is the fact that this Ford dealer is still advertising the car (Auto Trader # AT-EAE428F) 6 days later and is most assuredly using it as a scam to get people like me to there lot. It is the perfect vehicle to lure you in. Low miles and no record of the speedometer being change out. I thought a new car dealer would never lower themselves to this type of low life Car Guy scam, I was wrong. Look Out!09 Subaru
by rkindelberger on 05/22/2008I went in first to look at the vehicles and see what kind of dealership they were before taking wife, she hates the process. Looked at Subaru first, she really wanted a hybrid so told the sales person we were going to Toyota. She had… test driven an 08 Outback and liked it. After driving the Prius and Camry decided she just didnt care for them and loved the way the Subaru handled, back we go and the sales person had taken the time to wash th Outback so she could see it completely clean. We noticed a 09 Sage Green base model Forester and test drove it, That was all it took. They didnt have the premium edition in stock but by the time we got in our seats were on the phone and traded for exactly what we wanted. Negotiations consisted of them telling me what they wanted based off of a dealer added on dealer markup sheet. I crossed out the number and wrote in what I would pay, max interest rate and terms I wanted and took their trade offer. Salesman came back within $400 and we settled within 200 and I got more in trade than I expected. Never even spoke to the sales mgr except to say hi and by going out the door. Have 1600 miles on the car in less than a month and wife loves it. She is getting all kinds of positive comments..
