by shiloto on 05/21/2014updated 04/26/2025I had an awful experience buying a car from Van Horn Hyundai of Fond du Lac. In fact they ruined the whole excitement of buying a new car. I found them online; they advertised a Hyundai Sonata 2011 as a certified vehicle, and decided to go… ahead and check it out, although I live 2 and half hours away. The sales person (Robbie) let me drive the car and I really liked it. The trouble started when I told Robbie that I want to buy the car with cash. He was so disappointed, even said Who buys a car without financing nowadays! Well, since when cash money are not appreciated??? So, to continue, he changed the price of the car, since it wont be financed (had to pay more for that). I agreed to the higher price, because Robbie repeated more than enough times that the vehicle is certified. Meanwhile, the sales person was keep pushing me into financing the car, even just for 6 months, and then pay it in full. At one point he was almost begging me! I paid almost $20000 in cash and left the dealership thinking that my new car is certified. After a week owning the vehicle there was a problem, It was raining and my car got flooded!!! I emailed the sales person and he told me to take my car to the nearest Hyundai dealership and theyll fix it for me also the air filter and cabin air filter were very dirty, something that they must have checked before selling the vehicle. And that is how I found out that the vehicle is NOT certified!!! When I called to FDL dealership asking about explanation, they told me that just because I paid cash I cant have that feature of the car and there is nothing they can do about it! I was shocked! I paid more for that feature and for paying with cash that is what I call a false advertising and fraud!!! They lied to me and took my money! In conclusion, I would like to say that the people who work in that dealership are only interested in your money, especially the money youll pay in interest, financing a car. I am going to make sure more people hear about my experience with Van Horn Hyundai of Fond du Lac dealership and none of my friends, family or people I know will ever go there and trust those people! They just dont appreciate your business!!!Never Again
by cheezy1 on 05/20/2013updated 04/26/2025Horrible customer service and do not stand behind what they sell. Purchased a used truck and 3 weeks later, it needs a new engine. Really? Then was told we bought it "as is" and should have purchased the extended warranty. Well, that would… have been nice except we were told that we could not buy one since the mileage was over 100K!! Then we were told that we should use thicker oil so that it can last 40-50K miles yet. Who wants to drive a vehicle wondering if it's going to blow up? They never returned phone calls and overall, we are disgusted by how misleading and uncaring this place is. Would't advise buying anything from them.Fast and painless

I was unsure because my car was involved in a GM recall if I would be able to trade but they gave me a… great deal on a trade and was able to work with my budget. I wanted to bring my car to my parents before buying and they let me take it and show them with no problems. If your looking for a no hassle, stress free buying experience with an awesome sales person go to Van Horn Hyundai of Fond du Lac and ask for Jake!No Customer Service After you Purchase

They are all very busy (at least look like it) and the customer service suffers. Once you buy a vehicle forget it. Multiple phone calls,… multiple emails to Sales, Sales Managers and the General Manager and no call backs, no returned emails, nothing. Do your research online (Edmunds), get the used vehicle checked out before purchasing and get the lowest price because you get nothing from them. One would get better customer service and better treatment buying direct from an owner out of the paper.if its not in writing you won't get it!
by baseball53 on 04/10/2013updated 04/26/2025If you want any of the following from this dealer GET IT IN WRITING! 1. more than 1key/remote for your car 2. a FULL tank of gas at delivery 3. an owners manual 4. floor mats.... even if the car has them in the trunk when you test drive… it. Very pushy on extended warranty also. If you are considering a used vehicle HAVE the car looked at! Carfax does NOT know of all accidents. Please go to Better Business Bureau website and read their reviews if you think I am alone in being burned by them. There are A rated Hyundai dealers within 30 miles of them, you may want to shop around. Once you sign the forms customer appreciation ENDS. Their attitude toward their customers is evident in the BBB complaint responses. Tough $*** STAY AWAY or at the very least get EVERYTHING in writing and have your used car inspected !Hyundai Sonata

My nephew recommended I check out the Hyundai dealership in Fond du Lac. When I drove on the lot I was greeted by a… salesman, Kevin. He spent a lot of time explaining the differences between the Elantra and Sonata. He then let me test drive a few vehicles and helped me pinpoint which vehicle would work best for my very tight budget. I ended up buying a 2008 Sonata from Kevin and Van Horn. They were not pushy in the sales process and I felt very comfortable in a normal uncomfortable situation. I would definitely recommend Kevin and Van Horn to all my friends and family.
