As the age of electrification for nearly every type of car, truck, and SUV looms large on the horizon, there is no shortage of new fully electric vehicles to get excited about. So far, every major automaker has embraced electrification in some way, and a bevy of new EVs are on their way. The list of exciting upcoming electric cars includes the Cadillac Escalade IQ, Ram 1500 Rev, Dodge Charger Daytona, and affordable EVs like the new Chevrolet Bolt EV and Kia EV3.

But those five EVs are just the tip of the iceberg. Here's our comprehensive list of some of the most exciting and interesting electric vehicles coming for the 2025 model year and beyond.

Am I Ready for an EV?

  • EV ownership works best if you can charge at home (240V outlet) This typically means a 240V home installation, or other places your car is parked for several hours each day. Don't expect a regular household outlet (120V) to suffice.
  • Adding a home charging system is estimated to cost $1,616 in

The new Q6 e-tron is the third SUV in the e-tron lineup. It sits between the compact Q4 e-tron and the larger Q8 e-tron. However, the Q6 sets itself apart with a more modern, updated interior and rides on a new platform shared with the new Porsche Macan Electric. That means faster charging and a longer driving range than the other e-tron SUVs. Inside, the Q6 e-tron boasts large displays, including an 11.9-inch digital instrument panel and a 14.5-inch center touchscreen housed under a single curved display. A passenger-side touchscreen is optional. The electric Audi packs standard all-wheel drive and plenty of power, especially in the sportier 509-horsepower SQ6 model.

Expected range: 307 miles

Expected starting price: around $65,000

2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ

Author=Cadillac

The Cadillac Escalade is a staple of the luxury automaker's portfolio, and the Escalade IQ is its reimagining for the electric era. The IQ is longer than the standard Escalade, features seating for seven, draws power from a huge 200-kWh battery pack, and provides an extensive driving range. It also comes with more tech than a SpaceX rocket, including the hands-free Super Cruise driving aid. A 55-inch interior display that spans the length of the dashboard is standard, and a 40-speaker (yes, 40) sound system will be available as an optional extra. It's a big luxury EV done in American style, and we like the sound of that.

Expected range: 460 miles

Starting price: $129,990

2025 Cadillac Optiq

2025 Cadillac Optiq front 3/4

The Optiq will serve as Cadillac's entry-level electric SUV when it launches at the beginning of 2025. It will join the larger Lyriq and upcoming three-row Vistiq and Escalade IQ. The Optiq will have dual motors that provide all-wheel drive and produce 300 hp. But the best thing the Optiq has to offer is inside. The electric Caddy comes standard with lots of tech, including a 33-inch display, Super Cruise hands-free driving, an infotainment system with built-in Google apps, and a 19-speaker AKG audio system. Cadillac says the Optiq will be the sportiest SUV in the IQ lineup.

Expected range: 300 miles

Starting price: $54,390

2025 Chevrolet Bolt EV

2023_chevrolet_bolt_ev-f34.jpg

Budget-minded EV shoppers, rejoice! The Bolt EV is returning in 2025 and will likely retake the title as the most affordable EV. The second-generation Bolt will be completely redesigned and ride on GM's Ultium platform. Therefore, we expect it to surpass its previous 259-mile driving range and charge faster. The new Bolt should boast several new tech features, most of which will likely be borrowed from the Equinox EV. And like many of GM's EVs, there's a good chance the Bolt will qualify for the federal tax credit, making it even more affordable.

Expected range: 290 miles

Expected starting price: around $29,000

Dodge Charger Daytona

Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept

When the Charger Daytona hits the road in late 2024, it will be the first all-electric American muscle car. The two-door coupe arrives first, followed by the four-door version. The base R/T model produces 456 hp, or 496 hp with the PowerShot temporary boost mode, and is expected to hit 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. The Scat Pack model touts a 630-hp powertrain (670 hp with PowerShot) that results in a 3.3-second 0-60 mph time. Both models have dual motors that provide all-wheel drive. Dodge says it will produce more powerful electric models and gas-powered versions down the line.

Expected range: 260-317 miles

Expected starting price: around $60,000

2025 Hyundai Seven concept

2025_HyundaiMotors-SEVENConcept_eIONIQBrand.jpg

Families will have another three-row electric SUV option soon. The Hyundai Seven concept (predicted to be renamed the Ioniq 7 or Ioniq 9) will be unveiled at the end of 2024 and should roll into dealerships by mid-to-late 2025. We have high expectations for the Hyundai because it will share the same platform as the Kia EV9, which is one of our favorite EVs. Therefore, it will likely provide about 300 miles of range, offer plenty of room in all three rows, and deliver impressive fast-charging capability. Better yet, it should have an attractive price tag for an electric seven-seater.

Expected range: 300 miles

Expected starting price: around $55,000

2025 Jeep Recon

Author=Jeep

When the Recon hits the market in 2025, it will give off-road electric SUV shoppers a smaller and more affordable option over the Rivian R1S. The Recon will likely be about the size of the Wrangler and have removable doors and a retractable roof. Like the Wrangler, it should have impressive off-road chops thanks to an all-wheel-drive powertrain, locking differentials, large all-terrain tires, and underbody skid plates. Range and power details have yet to be released. Still, it should be competitive if it's anything like the new Wagoneer S. But if you're not ready to make the all-electric jump, the Recon might also be available with a gas-powered engine.

Expected range: 300 miles

Expected starting price: around $60,000

2025 Kia EV3

Kia Concept EV3 front

Add another affordable EV to the list. The little EV3 follows Kia's larger EV6 and EV9 electric SUVs; if it's anything like those SUVs, it could be the champ of low-priced EVs. The electric Kia will offer a single-motor front-wheel-drive model first, followed by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. A standard-range battery pack will likely offer less than 300 miles of range, but the larger pack is expected to provide over 300 miles. Kia says EV3 will have a generative AI voice assistant and integrated streaming services like Netflix. The EV3 will hit global markets in 2024 and should reach the U.S. in 2025.

Expected range: 300+ miles

Expected starting price: around $35,000

2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology

2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 EV front 3/4

The G-Class received significant updates for 2025, including the first all-electric model with a long-winded name: the G 580 with EQ Technology. It looks much like the regular G-Class, but instead of a six- or eight-cylinder engine, a battery pack and four electric motors generate 579 hp and a whopping 859 lb-ft of torque. The electric G-wagen impressed us off-road more than the gas-powered versions because its four-motor configuration allows the exact torque to be distributed to each wheel. Thanks to the G-Turn feature, the G 580 can also drag a rear inside wheel for tight turns and spin in place. We expect to see the G 580 hit showrooms in late 2024.

Expected range: 250 miles

Expected starting price: around $170,000

2025 Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman EVs

2025_Porsche_718_Boxster_EV.jpg

To the dismay of many sports car enthusiasts, the 718 Cayman and Boxster are going all-electric. We'll miss the rumble and feel of the outgoing flat engines, but the electric version will likely boast improved performance. Porsche has yet to release powertrain and range figures, but we expect single-motor rear-wheel-drive models to have about 400 hp and dual-motor models, which will likely be all-wheel-drive, to crank out almost double the power. As for looks, we expect the electric Cayman and Boxster to look similar to the gas-powered versions. When the electric sports cars launch in 2025, they will join the Taycan and the new Macan Electric.

Expected range: 300 miles

Expected starting price: around $80,000

2025 Ram 1500 Rev

Author=Ram

Ram is joining the electric truck party late, but it's arriving in style and with some strong numbers in late 2024. The Rev looks like a sleeker version of the gas-powered Ram and shares the same impressive interior, which can be equipped with an optional 14.5-inch center touchscreen and 10.25-inch passenger-side touchscreen. Underneath the truck, the Rev boasts a standard battery pack expected to deliver 350 miles of range and a substantial 500 miles with the larger battery pack. The truck's dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain is targeted to produce 654 hp, which is enough for a projected towing capacity of 14,000 pounds, the most of any electric truck. Ram will also offer the 1500 Ramcharger, an electric truck that uses a V6 engine as a range extender, increasing the driving range to 690 miles.

Expected range: 350-500 miles

Expected starting price: around $70,000

2026 Rivian R2

Rivian R2 front three-quarter

The R2 SUV won't hit driveways until 2026, but it's likely worth the wait because it's essentially a smaller version of the compelling R1S SUV. The Tesla Model Y rival is about 15 inches shorter than the R1S but retains its boxy shape, large center touchscreen, and off-road prowess. Shoppers will have a choice of a single-motor model with rear-wheel drive and dual-motor and tri-motor models with all-wheel drive. Rivian says the top-spec R2, likely the tri-motor variant, will blast to 60 mph in under 3 seconds. We expect a solid driving range and quick charging times thanks to the new architecture that underpins the R2. A smaller SUV called the R3 will follow.

Expected range: 300+ miles

Expected starting price: around $45,000

2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz

Volkswagen ID. Buzz

The VW bus is back, and this time it's all-electric. The Volkswagen ID. Buzz will be just the second ID model the company launches in the States, and it looks like a faithful reinterpretation of one of VW's most iconic models. Even better? The big cruiser has guts this time, with the dual-motor version pumping out 335 hp — about six times the output of the flower-power Volkswagen Type 2 T1. The ID. Buzz will also have the distinction of being the first electric minivan when it hits our shores toward the end of 2024.

Driving range: 231-234 miles

Starting price: $61,545

2025 Volvo EX30

Author=Volvo

The Volvo EX30 isn't big, but it is a big deal. This fully electric compact crossover is notable for being an electric SUV from a luxury automaker with a relatively affordable starting price. The EX30 is full of interesting touches, including an interior that's been designed with sustainable materials throughout and has no display in front of the driver (à la the Tesla Model Y), and the lineup offers a potent 422-hp dual-motor model. But because the car is so pint-sized (and weighs presumably less than other EVs), Volvo expects it will deliver a competitive driving range. The EX30 was slated to go on sale in 2024 but has been delayed until 2025.

Expected range: 265-275 miles

Expected base price: around $36,000

2025 Volvo EX90

2024_Volvo_EX90_4.jpg

The EX90 swings to the opposite side of the size spectrum compared to the EX30. It's about the size of the current XC90 and has three rows of seating. It also features built-in lidar for its raft of advanced driver aids and will have integrated Google apps, including Google Play and Google Maps. The EX90 will serve as the brand's electric flagship, but it won't replace the gas-powered XC90 when it goes on sale. Size, space, and classic Scandinavian design make the EX90 yet another very appealing EV that should be available before the end of 2024.

Expected range: 296 miles

Starting price: $81,290
