Ford Timberline The Good and The Bad 3K Miles

I have had 3 Ford Explorers in 5 years: A Sport, a Platinum and the Timberline. They all have Pros/Cons. I turned in my Platinum after 3 months for the Timberline because I didn't like the Platinum's 6 cylinder engine. I love the interior, the ride is amazzzing with shocks and lowered suspension, the sound system is solid and the 4 cylinder is great WHEN on sport mode. At 25 MPH on the HWY I have no complaints. The bad; the seats are not comfortable on long drives and as you will hear from others there is a hum under the engine that is super annoying. I listen to music full time so no problem but resale may be an issue. Otherwise, it's a great looking vehicle with a third row and the interior is amazing. I test drove BMWs, Mercedes, Hondas, Toyotas you name it and once again I landed on a Ford Explorer. I am glad I did. The safety features are phenomenal, having recently saved me from an accident. I love the 360 view too. Its a pretty awesome vehicle. My partner has the BMW X5 M trim and I am not jealous at all so I think that says a lot!

Explorer ST Old Boomer's Badass Ride

2023 Ford Explorer ST 4dr SUV AWD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 10A)

The ST comes with a twin-turbo V-6 and a ten-speed transmission, which for an old gearhead gets me to church and the grocery store just peacefully and economically. Doesn't sound like a sewing machine like the 4 banger, and looks upscale. A bit firm ride, but that's why townships put their cops in them, including serious 400 HP with low-end torque, all with bucket seats that cradle this old guy comfort. Creature comforts, good mileage if I just drive, but zoom, serious set-you-back in the seat when you want it. Sport mode is honestly a little choppy, so I'm pretty much staying in Normal.

Wanted to love this vehicle, but epic fail by Ford

I really wanted to love this vehicle as they are a nice looking vehicle. After about 1000 miles the seat motor quit working. I had to take it to the dealership and they ended up ordering a new frame. Once the seat was fixed, I noticed the AC was not coming on if I had the heat on earlier in the morning. I would have to drive around and turn the AC on and off about 10 times before it would kick on to cold. Then comes the rattle. When driving on the interstate there is a rattle noise. Took it to the dealership again and they took the dash apart but could never find what was causing the rattle. To this day it still does the rattle even after going back a 2nd time to the dealership. Three weeks after the seat was fixed the lumbar quits working on the seat. Again having to take to the dealership to fix. The final straw was this morning when turning on the defroster. It sounds like a tea kettle when it gets heated. I am DONE with Ford and will never own another Ford product. I am taking this vehicle to trade it tomorrow. Only 5,000 miles on it and already had 5 different issues. Get it together Ford!

Ford Explorers quality/ customer satisfaction gone

I have owned 5 Ford Explorers. I still have a 2007 with under 100k. But in Jan we decided to trade in our beautiful 2019 F150 w 33k for a new Explorer we got a 2023 because there were no 2024's available. We bought a st line. When we got home we noticed places where paint was missing and too long of story but won't be buying from that dealer ever again. Took this one w 300 miles on it and traded it local where we had bought our last 3 trucks. Got the 2023 explorer ST in the star white tricoat metallic. Lost our butts on the deal. Well we went back with a crooked hood. They took it to body shop who said simple fix just adjust screws. A few days later it was crooked again Now they tell us that the body adjusted it they could. Would need to go to another body shop. We had a week to wait for this appt. So we went around the vehicle and noticed many crooked parts along w an edge w no paint. All the rubber seals were sloppy like a kid put them on. Gone for 1 day, Car manager calls and says it will be done tomorrow. they did a quick touchup on the place with only metal. I assume that will be the first to rust. And ordered new rubber for 1 area. Said they maxed out the crooked hood and it was the best they can do. Didn't say a word about the very crooked tailgate that this guy also agreed was crooked. And the many other parts that are crooked. If they think we paid almost 60,000 for this and are ok with it this way they are nuts! Oh and the dealership claims the paint was chipped down to metal by back driver door by rock and are trying to charge us for that now. And the paint touch up they are sending w us. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow. But I don't see this ending well. I'll be posting this on their website if it doesn't get resolved. Btw this one has 1400 miles on it in 6 1/2 months

The Explorer ST actually fun & comfy to drive!

I've had my ST for about three weeks and love it. It's the first vehicle I've had that is actually fun and comormatble to drive- and I hate driving. It has great power and handling like a sports car, yet it has plenty of room for roadtrips. Also, I've had back surgeries & plenty of back problems, but the ST hasn't bothered my back at- even after a 1,250 mile roadtrip in 6 days. I've read poor reviews about the interior being cheap, but I'm happy with it. It has great features and the sound system is better than my home stereo system. I am very glad I bought the ST!
