What is the F-250?
While the full-size F-150 gets the majority of the attention in the expansive Ford truck lineup, the real workhorses are the Super Duty models. The 2024 Ford F-250 is the entry-level Super Duty truck and recently went through a total overhaul. With a clean-sheet redesign just last year, we don't anticipate any major changes for the 2024 model.
The name of the game with the F-250 is capability, and the truck delivers with two new engine options for this generation. Standard is a 6.8-liter V8 making 405 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque. For those with even heavier-duty needs, Ford offers a 6.7-liter diesel V8 good for 475 hp and 1,050 lb-ft. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Max towing capacity sits north of 20,000 pounds. Other job site luxuries include the Pro Power Onboard generator and payload scales in the bed.
The F-250 Super Duty competes against other large truck offerings including the Chevy Silverado 2500HD, GMC Sierra 2500HD and Ram 2500. With its fresh design and more powerful engine options, the Ford stacks up nicely against its rivals.
