Electrical and Transmission problems
Car in shop several times due to transmission slippage that always has to be adjusted. Shifting from reverse to drive causes a big jerk..and the latest is intermittent battery dying - dealer says battery bad and replaced for $200.00! ...First time owning ford and not happy with it at all! All reviews seem to be consistent and Ford not doing anything but raping pockets! Last one for me! Here I come Chevrolet and may be consider Honda - also the head rest and seat is poorly designed.
'limp' mode
I did not learn that the engine powering this car is well-documernted for going into limp mode. This means you suddenly have no throttle response, just steering and brakes to get you to the side of the road. Ford dealer replaced the throttle body-3 days later, same problem. The service advisor informed that that nothing more would be done, since they couldn't 'replicate' the condition, despite having found codes (they didn't say what codes). Bottim line-I have to pay off this car and buy another. Hopefully, I won't get screwed again.
Ford Fusion sport
I purchased this car used back in 2016 as my first car to make payments on. Over the 4+ years of ownership, I put a good amount of miles on this car and also delivered with it for 3 years. The overall reliability of the car was alright. I never had any major problems with the engine or transmission but I had quite a few electrical issues. One of my window switches went out, the backup speaker blew out, the radio amplifier had issues and the sunroof stopped working properly. Nothing major but all very annoying. The car itself was always fun to drive but with the larger engine and increased horsepower the gas mileage suffered. I believe I averaged 19 when delivering and later 24 when driving mostly highway. I the sport package looks sharp but it’s probably better to just go with the SEL trim. Still a V6 so it has decent power and the gas mileage is better. Parts would also be more common as well. I bent a rim on this car and it was a pain to get a factory rim since they only made the sport trim and wheels for a couple years. Overall I did really like this car up until the electrical issues seemed to keep popping up

Performance and Tire Wear
I am shopping ahead of time for new tires for my 2010 Ford Fusion Sport. In doing so I ran across this site and other with a variety of comments and ratings. I bought my car in Jan of 2010 and have 45,500 miles on it. My tires are good for another 5000 - 7500 miles. And they have at times been put to the test. Rotated every 7000 miles along with oil service. This car kills every other 3.5 I have run against. The average mileage up and down my 27 mile communte is between 24 and 26 MPG. I am surprised that it has been 100% reliable with no additional service needs. I have owned 3 BMW's and this car is more fun to drive. Not as "secure" in high speed turns but good enough. Love it.
Poor build quality and materials
This is the worst new car I've ever bought. After only 1000 miles, I have more defects than other cars having >100K miles. I am appalled this car ever made it off the line. Trunk leaks, bad window regulator, dash and door rattles, failed side sensors, loose sun visor, all before the first trip to the dealer. Why buy this car?
