2025 Genesis GV70 Consumer Reviews

great ride and handling poor reliability?
I have a 2024 GV70 and took it on a long cross country trip and was impressed by the driving quality and handling. However there are several issues that concern me. At 3000 miles the brakes were very loud backing up. The dealer told me that it needed new brake calipers. At 10,000 miles the transfer case started leaking. I have owned at least a dozen new cars and never had issues like this occur so early. My last was a Accura RDX. At 48,000 miles no issues. I should have researched the the GV70 more before purchasing. The dealer is waiting for ordered parts and their service has been great. I think they are a bit embarrassed with the cars problems

2024 Genesis GV70 Sport System Malfunction
Bought a brand new 2024 Genesis GV70 Sport Prestige. Only had it for about 4 hours before having to bring it back to the dealership. I went out to dinner with my family and about an hour or so afterwards, I started the car just to see a bunch of flashing warning lights on my dashboard and a message saying that the cameras were without any signal. Basically, all of the electronic features had somehow malfunctioned. The navigation system had no signal. The radio did not work. My blinkers didn’t even flash on the dashboard. Upon getting in contact with a sales representative, we were told that we would have to wait until Monday and that there was nothing that could be done because it was the weekend. We had to drive it back to the dealership while the car system was in failure. Couldn’t even see what speed I was driving at because of the malfunction on the dashboard. It was pretty heartbreaking driving off of the lot in a beautiful, brand new car only to find it malfunctioning just a couple of hours later. We were told that it may be an issue with the battery, but after researching it seems like more of a wiring issue. I have never heard of anything like this happening from any other high quality, luxury brands. I don’t think Genesis will keep my business, to be honest. For a $60,000 car, there’s no way that this should be happening. It’s almost as if the manufacturers are not performing system checks before authorizing these vehicles for sale. It appears that reliability may be somewhat of an issue with this brand. Please beware of this manufacturer. As a first time customer, this is extremely disappointing. This was such a let down. Not sure that I can trust this brand. Looks like we got a brand new $60,000 lemon.

The Different Premium SUV
I give it a four star because I don't believe there's the perfect car. Every vehicle is perfectible and this is an example of that. First with the negatives that make me give this precious SUV only 4 stars: The seats: They are rock hard! Not a deal breaker but be cognizant that the seats are super firm. They are highly configurable and that helps tremendously as well as the massage feature for the driver but, firm they are. On the Prestige Package they come with a mesh insert that pretty much covers 50 percent of the seating surfaces so, yes, you upgrade to leather only to get half of the seating surface covered in fabric. I always opt for leather or vinyl seats because they're easier to upkeep than fabric and they are easier to keep clean as well. So I'd say, keep this in mind if you have small children and or pets. Now with the positive: EVERYTHING ELSE. I loved the buying experience. I was hesitant to set foot at the Genesis dealership for all the bad rep that I see online but my experience was very comparable to what I've dealt with with Lexus. I love the interior quality, fit and finish. I also love most of the features that I actually use on a daily basis. I love the looks, the paint finish (metallic black). The vehicle is quiet and the ride is super comfortable despite the firmer seats and bigger wheels. The 2.5 offers plenty of power and you save at the pump too vs the 6 cylinder. I also love: the fact that it has distinctive looks vs the X3 or the GLC300. The long warranty, the free maintenance for 3 years and the valet service. Keep this vehicle on your list of premium SUV's. It made sense to us and we are loving it 3 weeks and 3000 miles into our ownership. Yes, 3000 miles in 3 weeks. We just drove it from California to Texas and back.

1,100 miles in - I love the GV70
We've never owned a luxury vehicle of any kind so we really wanted to treat ourselves with this purchase. Because this would be our most expensive vehicle purchase by far, we compared and tested many 5-seat luxury SUVs. All had some good points but the GV70 checked more boxes than any of the others. We've now owned our 2025 2.5T Sport Prestige for close to a month and absolutely love the performance, the drive quality, the quiet cabin, the excellent audio system and the luxurious appointments. We're in the Sierra Nevada foothills so we've taken several drives "up the hill" on winding mountain roads and 26% grades, in elevations from 2000 to 10,000 feet, and temperatures up to 110°. The GV70 has handled everything we've thrown at it with competence and poise. There have been no issues whatsoever - we've enjoyed every minute we've spent in the Genesis. Are there any downsides? Well, the GV70 does feel rather heavy on tight mountain turns. A BMW X3 would handle the twisties with a little more balance, but at the expense of ride quality. An Audi Q5 would return better fuel mileage. A Lexus NX350 may be more reliable over time. But every one of these compact SUVs cost more than the GV70 Sport Prestige when comparably equipped, and they don't do as many things as well as the GV. No car is perfect so the GV70 won't get 5 stars from me but 4.7 stars? ABSOLUTELY!

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR
If the title doesn’t relay the message… DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. I purchased a brand new 2025 GV70 in September. No miles on it - I drove it off the lot. Drove it for 3 months and then one day my dashboard, speedometer, all the “tech” stopped working. When I dropped it off at genesis they said they would need to replace my “cluster” and it will only be 2 weeks. Flash forward 2 months, I am still without my car & still without answers. I have to leave a minimum of 4 voicemails each day to even get someone to call me back & give me an update. Paying $60k for a car only for everything to stop working 3 months later and have to BEG for an answer is absolutely ridiculous. This LOOKS like a luxury car but let me tell you it is NOT one. Keep in mind the entire time I did have my car, the Apple car play only works if you have it plugged in. “Works” is also an exaggeration. It would consistently skip while playing music to the point where you would have to unplug, let it reset and try again, MULTIPLE TIMES. So many issues with the tech and system - this car is not worth the price. Save yourself. Do not buy this car unless you enjoy throwing away money & enjoy spending numerous hours going back and forth between service calls begging for an answer.
