Used 2022 GMC Terrain SUV Trims Comparison

Trim level differences

The 2022 GMC Terrain is a small five-passenger SUV that is offered in four trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4 and Denali. All models are powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (170 horsepower, 203 lb-ft of torque) that is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available as an option (it's standard on the AT4 and Denali).

SLE
For an entry-level model, the SLE trim comes with a lot of standard features that include:

  • LED exterior lighting
  • Heated mirrors
  • Proximity keyless entry and push-button ignition
  • Auto-dimming rearview mirror
  • 7-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Onboard Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration (with wireless connectivity)
  • Six-speaker sound system
  • Forward collision mitigation (warns you of an impending front collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios)
  • Lane keeping assist (steers the vehicle back into its lane if it begins to drift over the lane marker)

SLT
The SLT trim adds plenty of luxury and convenience features that include:

  • Hands-free liftgate
  • Roof rails
  • Remote ignition
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • 8-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Additional USB ports
  • Leather upholstery
  • Leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel
  • Power-adjustable, heated front seats
  • Driver's seat memory functions
  • Household-style power outlet
  • Universal garage door opener
  • High-definition rearview camera

AT4
The new AT4 trim is touted as the off-road version, though it's more rugged-looking than all-terrain capable with only a few upgrades:

  • Underbody skid plate
  • Unique styling cues

Denali
The range-topping Denali trim adds a good amount of luxury and technology to the mix with:

  • Integrated navigation system
  • Bose premium audio and HD radio
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Upgraded driver information display
  • Head-up display (displays important information in your sight line onto the windshield)
  • Blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert (warns you if a vehicle is in your blind spot during a lane change or while in reverse)
  • Front and rear parking sensors (alert you to obstacles that may not be visible in front of or behind the vehicle when parking)
  • Safety alert seat (vibrates the driver's seat cushion when a safety warning is triggered)

Many features are available on supporting trims as options. Other add-ons are eligible on most trims and include:

  • Sunroof
  • Adaptive cruise control (maintains a driver-set distance between the Terrain and the car in front)
  • Surround-view monitor (gives you a top-down view of the vehicle and its surroundings for tight parking situations)
  • Ventilated front seats (Denali only)

Which Terrain trim does Edmunds recommend?

The SLT trim gets our recommendation since it's noticeably nicer on the inside with leather upholstery and more features than the base trim. Considering all you get, the price premium over the SLE seems justified. We'd also consider adding the Pro Safety Plus option to get adaptive cruise control and more safety features.
