Great car for the money!

2024 Honda HR-V Sport 4dr SUV AWD (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

I went from a 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB with all the bells and whistles with AMG stlyling, which I loved, to the HRV Sport. The HRV Sport has the kind of style I loved about my Mercedes and an impressive interior fit and finish for the price. It’s a great car for my daily commute and I appreciate the AWD in case of poor weather conditions. If you are looking for a great standard commuter vehicle with some added style and a nice ride, you will not be disappointed in the HRV. I also appreciate the blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control and automatic headlights with the auto brights feature as well.

GOOD SUV FOR THE PRICE

2025 Honda HR-V Sport 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

After owning and driving the 2025 Sport Honda HRV for 3 weeks now, here is my review and comments: Comfort— The seats are firm but comfortable. However, for those with a sensitive back, the vehicle might not suit them because the HRV rides a bit rough and bumpy on uneven roads. I also purchased a lumbar support cushion, because the Sport does not have lumbar adjustment support. Room— The HRV is roomier than I expected for its size. Perfect for a small family, running errands in town, or for taking a trip—Plenty of room, and it’s easy to get in and out of for those who like to sit higher than in a car. Gas Mileage— To date, I am getting 31.2 mpg combined. Not Bad. With that being said, I am easy on the gas pedal. Quiet: No, the car is not as quiet as it could be. It does transmit road noise into the cabin, especially if the road surface is rough. Perhaps the non sport models are quieter due to different tire and wheel configuaration. If you want quiet, then look elsewhere. Technology— It has all the technology I will ever need, or use. Honestly, I will not use every bell-and-whistle this SUV has to offer. Interior Materials— Door panels are a basic, cheap hard plastic, but then this is a utility SUV. If cheap plastic bothers you, look elsewhere. The dash board is not as hard as my previous Subaru so time will tell if the sun’s UV rays will damage the dash—I hope not. The upholstery is quality and should hold up well over a long time. I did not get the cheap leather-like vinyl. I did invest in all-weather matts and a cargo tray to protect the carpet areas. Eventually, I add front seat covers to protect the original. Mechanical— This vehicle has a well-tested and very reliable 2.0 litter non-turbo engine with a CVT trans. No, I did not purchase the AWD model as this will deliver poorer gas milage and mechanically it will be more expensive to service. Since I keep my cars for a long time, for extra security, I got the extended Honda warranty, and I am covered up to 100K anywhere in the U.S. and Mexico. I also got insurance on the wheels and tires, and the windshield (with censor camera) since these can be pretty pricy to replace. Power—There have been complaints that the HRV is underpowered. I disagree. The HRV is certainly not a MAZDA SUV or Hyundai, or KIA, but it has enough power to get the job done efficiently. Honda knows what they are doing. If the you want more power, then look elsewhere. I hope my review is objective helpful enough for someone that is considering purchasing this vehicle.

I USED to love Hondas but…..

I’ve been a loyal Honda owner since 2007. Accords, Element, CRVs and now this 24 HRV. I have never been to the service department so many times in all of my years of owning. 6 months into owning, the steering cable had to be replaced. Now a year after owning I have experienced the remote start not working properly. HVAC system doesn’t engage. Honda service says “it’s fine”. It’s not! Over it and tired of arguing. Getting out of it before warranty expires possibly switching brands. Honda quality has tanked. Comfort on long trips isn’t the best either.

2024 Honda HRV- Upsized but Underpowered

JBCMKTR, 03/17/2024
2024 Honda HR-V EX-L 4dr SUV w/Blind Spot Information (BSI) (2.0L 4cyl CVT)

The 2024 Honda HRV is our 4th Honda and 3rd SUV. After loving our 2008 CRV and not loving our 2017 model, we opted for the 2024 Honda HRV due to it's larger size (Civic based) versus it's predecessor (FIT based), similar appointments (EX-L) and better driving and handling. This compact SUV is quiet, tight, easy to drive and park and handles our daily 'grocery getting' needs. Styling is more Euro-rounded and a bit bland vs the Japanese styled CRV so neither pleasing nor offensive. Two major shortcomings: no power lift gate option even with the top of the line EX-L. Possibly due to the fact that this car 'came of age' during the COVID chip shortage for surely purchasers of a $30,000 compact SUV can afford the $500 or so added for a power liftgate. The second is the underpowered, overly noisy base/only 4 cylinder engine. We did love the 1,5L Turbo in our 2017 CRV (which was much heavier) and would have selected that same engine for our 2024 Honda HRV if it had been offered. The 2024 HRV would drive a lot more smoothly with the higher horsepower powertrain. From a color and trim standpoint, we had very limited choices to be able to choose off-white/light grey leather - Honda seems to 'lock down' color and trim choices and the HRV is saddled with the 'econo-SUV' white, black, grey, silver shades along with a really unattractive green and a 'does not fit this SUV' bright red (think 2008 Nissan 350z red). We would have gladly paid up for some of the other colors offered on Civic and CRV (like the bright blue). One MAJOR area of improvement from Honda: LED forward lighting. Prior lighting systems were so poor that one of the reasons we traded in our 34,000 mile 2017 CRV was just to get better night driving lights. The 2024 Honda HRV will be in our household at least 7 years before it gets 'handed down' to the next member of the family.
