Overview
The 2026 Honda Passport is fully redesigned. Fundamentally, it's a lot like the previous generation Passport that ran from 2019 to 2025. It's mechanically related to the bigger three-row Pilot but is shorter and lacks a third-row seat. Essentially, the Passport exists for shoppers who want something a little bigger and more adventurous than the typical small SUV (like the CR-V) but don't want or need the full utility of a midsize three-row SUV. Highlights for the 2026 Passport include boxier styling, an improved powertrain, new technology features, and better on- and off-road manners.
Edmunds spotlight: The 2026 Passport's changes
The 2026 Passport is a little bigger than last year and has more interior space. Fold down the rear seats and you've got a substantial 83.8 cubic feet of cargo space to work with. Hidden from view are a slightly more powerful V6 engine and a smoother-shifting automatic transmission. The Passport's advanced driver aids (such as the adaptive cruise control) are also improved to work more smoothly and unobtrusively. As before, there's a TrailSport trim that's aimed at outdoor enthusiasts and comes with features such as an off-road-tuned suspension, all-terrain tires and underbody protective skid plates. A Passport TrailSport is not as specialized or capable as a Jeep Wrangler, but it'll get you farther along in the dirt than the average crossover SUV.
Competitors to consider
Like the Honda Passport, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4Runner and Subaru Outback all go back decades. While they've grown more refined over the years, they haven't given up their SUVs roots and, like the Passport, are a bit more capable off-road than the average crossover. The Mazda CX-70 is another option. It's not meant for off-roading, but it does have a classier interior and sportier performance than the Passport.
Which Passport does Edmunds recommend?
The standard RTL comes well equipped, but we think it's worth stepping up to the TrailSport trim even if you don't plan on utilizing its full capabilities. The jump in price is small, and the extra features really help the Passport stand out from other midsize SUVs.

2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Blackout 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl 10A)
I have been driving the 2026 Passport for almost 2 weeks and have 500 miles. Thought I'd do a quick initial review now.
Positives-
The cars engine has a ton of power even in normal drive mode. I have seen complaints about this but I had a twin turbo V6 on my previous car and this engine on sport+sport mode is smoother with almost the same power out put. 10/10
Paint quality on the … white is very high even sparkling. I didn't get any welding defects build quality is solid. I love the faux leather/cloth interior super high quality and looks great. Orange accent lighting adds a ton of atmosphere. 10/10
Steering and handling has been a 10/10. Excellent turning radius and smooth handling. On road drive quality is great 9/10 just can feel the larger tires a bit at high speeds.
Negatives-
I got some windshield cracks first day I owned it. Maybe a lower quality windshield but could just be the area I live.
Entertainment system has had software bugs and has needed dealership updates. Needing to go to the dealership for software updates and getting a error message on the dash are annoying but not anything major. 6/10
The under body of the car is a bit difficult to wash.
Features i would have liked to have that the Elite trim has-
Acoustic glass would be nice and cooled seats as well. The rest of the upgraded features I really would never use like the trail cam or 360 camera. I personally preffer the 360 sensors on this model cause 360 cameras give me a migraine.

2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Elite 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl 10A)
I bought this car only because my previous car I was driving had been crashed into and I needed a car soon.
I have the Trailsport Elite, to get any other interior besides black on the Trailsport you had to get the Elite, I really liked that it had a large sunroof only to find out it doesn’t open all the way. It was raining when I test drove it, my fault I didn’t try opening it.
I don’t … like the set up for the radio. I have had Sirius XM for years, this isn’t offered in the car. I have to connect my iPhone to Apple Play to make it work. This is a pain.
The one major concern I have is when you try to break suddenly, it takes a few seconds for it to react. It is an odd feeling.
The car rides ok, it does have some road noise you can hear with the windows closed unlike my BMW X5 that I previously owned.
Overall I would say drive it a few days and ask lots of questions.
