Used 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited 4dr Sedan w/Brown Leather PZEV (2.4L 4cyl 6A) Consumer Reviews
Beats the competition
I was this close to buying a 2014 Accord Touring and test drove both vehicles before deciding on the 2015 Sonata Limited. The car drives with a refinement that I did not feel in the Accord. Yes, both are top-notch vehicles and the comparison of a 6 cyl Accord with a 4 cyl Sonata is not completely apples to apples. But after driving both, I though the power on the Sonata was adequate. The addition of torque at lower RPMs made the difference. Features that come with the technology and ultimate package are just amazing. You would pay a lot more for each of these on any German sedan. Very well executed vehicle by Hyundai and so far have been very impressed.
Troublesome
I am aware that many praise this car, but many don't tell the issues. Of course you already know about the engine problems. But there are actually more problems. There are also VCM problems, oil consumption problems, and more importantly the 2015-2016 cars had a faulty oil plug at the CVVT system which will damage the CVVT sensor which in turn will damage the timing chain. Hyundai is quoting between $1500 and up to $4000 repairs depending on the damage, and it usually happens out of warranty. Other problems, my hood struts failed after 5 years, the leather seats are hard on long drives, the panoramic sunroof has poor tint to block the sun heat and also the shade must be fully opened to open the glass even just a little : basically you will bake in the sun if you want to crack the glass open. There is limited headroom for 6ft drivers. The 17 inch low profile wheels are very harsh and you cannot install 16 inch wheels because the brakes are too big. The 17 inch Solus tires also become very noise early in life. The radar units are very sensitive to calibration error and extremely expensive to replace. The parking sensors have fragile brackets and cost $400/unit. Poor resale value. As you can see, Hyundai has still a rather long way to go. I would recommend going for the base model with 16 inch wheels.
